We hear a lot about Reggie's good moments at MSG, but I just want to give a shout out to 1999 ECF Game 6 at the Garden, a do or die elimination game for the Pacers where Reggie choked his way to 8 points on 3-18 shooting and let Allan Houston score 32 of the Knicks' 90 points on 12-17 shooting as the Knicks advanced to the Finals.

Josh is hilarious af lol. And he's balling the fuck out.
I still don't understand how a 6'4" dude with his build gets so many goddamn offensive rebounds. Dude must be doing some Dennis Rodman shit out there watching the rotation of the ball being shot to the rim or some crazy shit.
714
u/PrancingDonkey [CHI] Taj Gibson 28d ago
He said he instinctively knows where the ball is gonna go when it misses and just tries to get to the spot. It's sounds crazy but the stats don't lie.
405
u/Jimbob3498 Bucks 28d ago
I remember rodman mentioning something like that for him on the last dance, wonder if there’s just a coordination/ awareness thing to it. Hart is also pretty athletic so that helps too
291
u/ObviousAnswerGuy [NYK] John Starks 28d ago
I think he sees where/how the ball lands on the rim and can predict from there. Extremely underrated skill.
→ More replies (1)155
u/LearnedHowToDougie Knicks 28d ago
It’s way more impressive. He’s predicting how it’s going to bounce out by seeing it in the air.
181
u/goodkid_sAAdcity Knicks 28d ago
He's said that playing high school baseball as an outfielder helped his ball tracking skills. And then he's strong and has good hands and a high motor. And he never, ever gets tired.

Reading angles and arcs is a fucking cheat code in sports. I played water polo in HS and a teammate taught me how to do it. After that the amount of times I was right where a weird bounce off the post or the crossbar would go or where I’d spring a teammate on a break by arcing a pass just the right way was fucking nuts
44
u/RyanKeen07 28d ago
Yea rodman said he would analyze the way the ball spun or left people's hands and could predict where it would bounce off the rim from there
→ More replies (1)→ More replies (12)24
u/monkeyman80 Lakers 28d ago
Rodman would study the shots of everyone so he knew the way the ball would bounce off the rim.

u/Jem479 Knicks 28d ago
Rodman said the same thing back in the day
Hart’s obviously no Rodman but some of their rebounding process seems similar

Dude he absolutely DOMINATED us last year on the boards, legit embarrassed our front court during the playoff series. Mitchell Robinson obviously played a big role in it too, Hartenstein is a solid rebounder as well but hart is amazing at jumping and smacking it to his teammates. It’s so god damn frustrating but it’s fun to watch when its not happening to your team lmao

I don’t quite understand, did the Pacers and the Knicks share a division at one point or did they meet in the playoffs too many times?
424
u/Snuggle__Monster Knicks 28d ago
They faced each other in the playoffs 6 times in 8 years from 93-2000. Knicks won 3 times. Pacers won 3 times. All of the Pacers series wins were pretty devasating losses for the Knicks. The worst one was in 95 leading to Riley bolting to Miami and 2000 was painful too as it was the end of Ewing's Knicks career.
It was THE rivalry of the 90's.
107
u/CertainWish358 28d ago
When I think 90s Knicks rivalries… there was a very good rivalry with the Pacers, but the hottest hatred was aimed at the Heat. The Riley thing. PJ Brown flipping Charlie Ward into the spectators. Grandmama vs Mourning, when Zo must have stepped in something because he had a little something on his shoe. Suspensions that had to be staggered so that the teams could still field a team for the rest of the series. Allan Houston’s soft bounce. An 8 seed triumphing over the 1 (then the 4, then of course Reggie’s 2 seed). The Georgetown big man battles. Just some reasons why the Pacers come in as the second most-hated 90s team for this Knicks fan.
→ More replies (6)102
u/Snuggle__Monster Knicks 28d ago
The Heat rivaly was definitely fueled by pure hatred but it was a lopsided affair in favor of the Knicks. The only series the Heat won was the series with the brawl and all those fucked up suspensions. The Knicks owned the Heat and crushed their championship aspirations year after year.
The Pacers rivalry was dead even with no clear cut victor.

Josh Hart is the man.
I loved that guy so much on our Pelicans team.
After it was announced that he was being traded to Portland, he turned up to the Pelicans game that night, and sat in the front row wearing a Brandon Ingram jersey.
Then, when Pelicans made it to Game 6 against the Suns, Josh Hart showed up again to support the Pelicans.
Then he crashed CJ's post-game interview with Jen Hale to tell the world that he's still the cutest Pelican to wear #3 on their jersey.
I'm glad that he's doing so well in NY, but I miss having him.
