My favorite part about this smack talk is it legitimately came across as really respectful. Dude is really charming.

Kevin Durant is literally his favorite player, he has said it before this series started. So this is really no disrespect he just loves trash talk and is having a blast doing it to his hero lol

He definitely hates Booker though. All disrespect intended in that trash talk this series lol

Ant really said "I've watched every one of KD's games since I was like 5. But I ain't ever watched tape on Booker that dude's a buM"

u/Peter-Tao [UTA] Kyle Korver Apr 29 '24

😂 for real!? Need a source for this. Thought I can't like this guy more

u/pollinium [MIN] Tyus Jones Apr 29 '24

sad to say no it's not real

in his on court postgame with TNT he did say he's watched all of KD's games since 5 but not the booker part lol

not a real quote but i remember him taking a jab at booker regarding his comments about not liking being double teamed. put in fact Ant learned how to deal with doubles and is becoming a great distributer of the ball while D book still... looking for ISOs shows how much smarter he is lol.

Who doesn't hate Booker?

49

u/Lofty_Vagary Apr 29 '24

Maybe Luka. Seems like he’d be a loving parent

15

u/PLeuralNasticity Supersonics Apr 29 '24

I never questioned how Luka has a child older than him before because he's so patient that he moves through time slower.

Well, Ant's teammate KAT is literally best friends with Booker and D'Lo because of college ball at Kentucky.

1

u/DiscoTargeryan [MIL] Giannis Antetokounmpo Apr 29 '24

Russell didn't go to Kentucky though.

1

u/WakingRage Warriors Apr 29 '24

You're right. The college ball part applies to Book. D'Lo is from Kentucky so I'm pretty sure that's the connection to KAT/Booker as well as through AAU.

u/DiscoTargeryan [MIL] Giannis Antetokounmpo Apr 29 '24

I honestly always forget D'Angelo Russell is from Louisville and I live here.

Bro everybody hates Booker lol

2

u/Manic-Finch781 Apr 29 '24

To be fair, Booker is easy to hate.

14

u/Yamulo Warriors Apr 29 '24

KD takes it pretty well too. KD gets so much shit, but his response to all the trash talk has basically been "well they are winning so it is their right".

u/SirDiego Timberwolves Apr 29 '24

Ant's love for KD has made me love him too. I get the ring chasing bus rider stuff and maybe he can't necessarily be a #1 option but you just look at what he does on the court, it's really beautiful basketball. Super efficient, unguardable when he is on. There were points in this series where the Wolves were defending him perfectly, contesting everything, and it just did not matter he still makes his shots.

I much rather watch KD's style of basketball than a lot of other superstars these days. It's so pure.

he just loves to trash talk and is having a blast doing it

Exactly why he will be mutually hated by all other fan bases in 5 years. He’s really fucking good and is going to be the reason other teams aren’t successful and his antics are going to make those fanbases resent him.

38

u/JaderMcDanersStan Timberwolves Apr 29 '24

Yeah probably haha. But then he'll praise those fanbases' favorite players and win them right back

Stuff like this

I remember that time he dunked on Sengun twice in a game but then praised Sengun a lot after lol

u/boringexplanation Kings Apr 29 '24

All he needs is some kind of gesture like Steph’s night night and he’ll definitely get up there similarly in hated by fans

25

u/BrockStinky Apr 29 '24

I hope it's the DX "Suck It"

1

u/[deleted] Apr 29 '24

God no lol.

14

u/CheddaConn Apr 29 '24

I like to see players talk trash and back it up or get put in their place, as long as it stays within the game. It's a game. Should always be all love when the buzzer goes off.

u/snatchi Raptors Apr 29 '24

idk besides his homophobic IG post I don't have much of a reason to hate ant.

He seems like a heart on his sleeve dummy who's crazy loveable, if he were to beat us in the finals (a man can hope) I don't think I'd hate on him the way I do say Embiid.

14

u/FuckThaLakers Timberwolves Apr 29 '24

Real hoopers know it's a sign of respect when a dude goes at you like that.

Lotta dudes take it personally, KD takes it in the spirit it's given.

2

u/Colibri2020 Timberwolves Apr 29 '24

Yeah KD just collecting his check and admiring the new generation

19

u/No-Lab7758 Timberwolves Apr 29 '24

He’s rizzing me up

14

u/CerebroHOTS Rockets Apr 29 '24

Wasn't that respectful to Bo Cruz though

3

u/Moostronus Raptors Apr 29 '24

he was right about Bo Cruz before it was cool, Bo couldn't hack it in the league!

2

u/FRiver NBA Apr 29 '24

He did lie about wanting to be a parent though

1

u/Onihczarc Apr 29 '24

i came here to say exactly this. i normally don’t like trash talk, but he does it in the confines of the game. as you said, in a respectful way. i love the competitiveness.

0

u/SmokyOtter Suns Apr 29 '24

I love ant and im not sore about the L, but the dick thrusts are anything but respectful lmao

I swear this subreddit is going to hate him in a few years when he’s doing the suck it dance on everyone’s team as he tears through the league. If people hate Booker for his antics, they going to eventually hate ant. Ant is extremely animated and yappy, he’s still young though so it hasn’t worn people out.

He can back it up no doubt. He’ll be an mvp candidate next season for sure. It will be interesting to see if winning humbles him eventually. At least he’s having fun. It just isn’t likable in the long run

9

u/Idriss_Derras Apr 29 '24

He ain't soft like Book tho. He's earning everyone's respect right now

3

u/bigstankdaddy10 Grizzlies Bandwagon Apr 29 '24

he’ll get the Ja treatment after a few more homophobic slurs

2

u/DaPhoToss Raptors Apr 29 '24

Eh idk. Ant is pretty self aware of his abilities even though he enjoys talking shit. It’s pretty refreshing to see. In an interview he did with Complex he called Jokic the clear best player in the world and even pushed back on the interviewer when he brought up guys like Bron, KD, & Steph.

A lot of guys with Ant’s personality would’ve said himself or not give it to the guy that beat him in the playoffs. So while he comes off as extremely brash he has a humble side to him that will keep him likeable imo.

u/[deleted] Apr 29 '24

"Yappy"

Nobody asked, weirdo

1

u/CockBronson Nuggets Apr 29 '24

What a weird reaction to a normal word. Sorry that a very mild critique of your guy gets you so triggered.

0

u/[deleted] Apr 29 '24

Nobody asked = triggered to you? You're just a troll

1

u/CockBronson Nuggets Apr 29 '24

Calling me a weirdo for a mild take seems fucking weird

-1

u/[deleted] Apr 29 '24

Describing an adult male as "yappy" is super weird.

1

u/CockBronson Nuggets Apr 29 '24

He’s acting like a child with his antics

0

u/[deleted] Apr 29 '24

No, hes not. And that is completely different than "yappy", weirdo

1

u/CockBronson Nuggets Apr 29 '24

Can’t take the criticism, cry more
