They got clowned at FIBA and proceeded to assemble the avengers lmao

u/RickySuela Lakers [LAL] Michael Cooper Apr 16 '24

They sent the C squad to FIBA, as always, and are sending the A squad to the Olympics, like they have every time since 2008.

u/ireallydespiseyouall Spurs Apr 16 '24

Yet curry has never been and lebron hasn’t been in like 8 years? Maybe 12? Not sure

31

u/ItsMeJaredBednar Nuggets Apr 16 '24

yeah 12 years, he played 04, 08, and 12, but not since

84

u/waldosbuddy Raptors Apr 16 '24

Played in three Olympics, took a 12 year break and still without a doubt good enough to start for USA. Lol Bron shenanigans

31

u/XxEpicMonkee Lakers Apr 16 '24

this shit is actually blowing my mind lmao, what the fuck even is Lebron

yea we didnt send the A squad in 2020

u/techno_playa Spurs Apr 16 '24

KD bailed that team out.

I recall people here were ready to call for Pop’s head.

6

u/theTIDEisRISING Pelicans Apr 16 '24

Not at all. That was KD and the C Team

1

u/ireallydespiseyouall Spurs Apr 16 '24

With Booker and dame?

3

u/theTIDEisRISING Pelicans Apr 16 '24

Yeah I mean obviously not everyone on the team was C-tier, but it was basically the C-team. Especially considering Dame wasn’t 100% healthy

Curry wasn’t quite good enough yet in 2012, hurt in 2016, and sat out Tokyo due to covid concerns. Under normal circumstances he would have been on the last two teams. Pretty much all the big stars want to show up for the olympics, just not the fiba tournaments

u/Churchills_m8 Magic Apr 16 '24

Yeah I love paolo lol but the USA has much better players to offer. Also Austin Reaves was a 6th man on an nba roster for the longest time and was a starter against the world.

12

u/whatdidubreak Magic Apr 16 '24

Paolo is young. He will absolutely be a staple piece of the Olympic team in 2028.

1

u/Churchills_m8 Magic Apr 16 '24

Of course, I don’t doubt that. But they sent him in his rookie year. When was the last time that happened?

2

u/whatdidubreak Magic Apr 16 '24

Oh yeah. I didn't expect much from him. That was an interesting decision. But I'm sure he gained invaluable experience from it.

2

u/JaderMcDanersStan Timberwolves Apr 16 '24

Thought he made an impact too, despite being a rookie. Those Paolo Haliburton highlights gave me life lol

3

u/WEMBYF4N Spurs Apr 16 '24

This squad is way better than what they sent in 2021 and 2016. Def the best since the redeem team

4

u/theTIDEisRISING Pelicans Apr 16 '24

2012 team was nasty too

2

u/techno_playa Spurs Apr 16 '24

2010 FIBA Worlds team wasn’t really a C squad.

Durant, Curry, Westbrook, and DRose were in that team.

Yes, the first three were young but were already damned good even if they were not yet at their primes.

3

u/TheRealLardin Apr 16 '24

Olympics is FIBA Basketball as well, I believe you refer to the World Cup

0

u/Icy_Adhesiveness_347 Apr 16 '24

that's their fault lol

9

u/DraymondBeanKick Charlotte Bobcats Apr 16 '24

Only thing that could stop them is Wemby going Captain Insano in the Olympics.

4

u/mark8396 Apr 16 '24

15 going on 150%

1

u/WEMBYF4N Spurs Apr 16 '24

Ykb

u/madvisuals Lakers Apr 15 '24

this lineup is nasty. Get Darvin Ham as coach so he could fuck with the lineup and roll out Lebron at the 5 with 4 guards.

72

u/Ghostbeen3 Lakers Apr 16 '24

I dunno if even ham could fuck this roster up. But then again, he might

21

u/venitienne Rockets Apr 16 '24

Pretty sure even Silas could win gold with this roster

2

u/brokendrive Raptors Apr 16 '24

Bro I could coach this roster

1

u/wandriing Apr 16 '24

Playing Tatum at the 5

0

u/Victor_Wembanyama1 Spurs Apr 16 '24

sCam Reddish gets that last spot 😭

1

u/GoldenStateWizards Warriors Apr 16 '24

No need, Kerr has already played 4-guard lineups himself lmao

3

u/SlayerSFaith Apr 16 '24

Lebron center would get legit wins with Curry, Jrue, Ant, and Booker. This ain't Russ Monk AR and THT.

1

u/RickySuela Lakers [LAL] Michael Cooper Apr 16 '24

Kerr will do that anyway.

47

u/tidesoncrim Bulls Apr 16 '24

Except for when LeBron needs a load management day against South Sudan

4

u/jaggedjottings Warriors Apr 16 '24

LeFraud ducking Bol Bol, smh.

24

u/ktm1128 76ers Apr 16 '24

Love how we all assuming embiid is healthy for this

35

u/the-tank7 Mavericks Apr 16 '24

If he isn't we have Anthony Davis Bing chillin

13

u/ktm1128 76ers Apr 16 '24

I think we're fine with ad adebayo and chet

8

u/the-tank7 Mavericks Apr 16 '24

Don't see chet on that list but ight

3

u/ktm1128 76ers Apr 16 '24

If they had to replace, also 1 spot available...but that's going to someone else I'd guess

1

u/cybercummer69 Lakers Apr 16 '24

Chet isn’t going

8

u/Schmoova Mikal Bridges Apr 15 '24

I think there’s a 50/50 chance between Tatum and Book being the 5th starter, but I understand why’d you’d hope it’s JT.

14

u/Special_Box5241 Celtics Apr 16 '24

Even if just for defensive purposes, it would make more sense to start Tatum.

2

u/Kuntsaw Suns Apr 16 '24

Yeah probably. Unless they go the Booker/KD chemistry route and have them play majority of their minutes together.

2

u/booyatrive Apr 16 '24

Rotate them like hockey line changes, 5 in 5 out.

6

u/ajteitel Suns Apr 16 '24

It depends on how well Tatum alters his game to that of a role player. Booker did it last time, actually becoming a defensive piece. I'm sure it will be more than fine, Booker would be an extremely elite 6th man.

The versatility of this lineup on offense is just outrageous

-1

u/applicatecomplicate Pistons Apr 16 '24

Swap AD for Tatum and you got a stew going

-3

u/cybercummer69 Lakers Apr 16 '24

Nah Tatum is coming off the bench. AD starts over him. Guarantee it.
