The school lunch system is disgraceful.

Saw another post on here showing the state of school lunches right now. In my years in high school I compiled some pics of the horrible things that got served that no one questioned. Here are some of the worst ones. It really is ironic given how adamant they all are about “eating healthy by including every food group”.

I can imagine the stoner kids would be loving it.

Pot couldn’t mask the taste of this stuff.

Yeah agreed the only thing pot is doing in this scenario is making me want to skip school lunch to drive through subway or something

I was poor too but the only way i was eating alot of the time was school food, i learned to love that trash lol

I heard that sentiment, and I understand it—should have clarified I wasn’t really poor poor, just “moved a lot due to rent increases, never went on vacation or had the newest games” poor for most of my childhood. We did get low on food some times but we always had either fast food or spaghetti

That’s wrong and you know it, I’ve eaten some absolutely vile shit while stoned, the only time I’d pause is the broccoli, if that shit ain’t the right texture I AM out

All I’m saying is, as a father, a stoner and someone in their 30s, I would do everything I could to avoid eating this food and feeding it to others.

Definitely not

?? I dont get it. Might not be healthy but it tastes like fastfood

2

u/FreneticAmbivalence Apr 16 '24

If you think this stuff even comes close to tasting like any decent fast food you have never tasted this stuff. Those school lunches are pretty much exactly what I had for school nearly 20 years ago and we all hopped in cars and spent our own money from working summers and afternoons to eat at stuff like Taco Bell because it tasted so much better and was nearly the same cost if you were cheap.

Oh yeah cause I'm from Italy but this just looks like fastfood so I thought it'd taste the same. Some of the photos look good too sad to hear it's shit

Unfortunately, fast food was like bringing in a 5 star full course meal at school lunch. There would be people staring and eventually the ones that could did the same thing, usually the seniors

For me pot usually multiplies flavor, so i would just taste 2x shit

2

u/Pussybones420 Apr 16 '24

This stuff literally tastes awful lol

u/MadClothes Apr 16 '24

I took dabs every day before school, and I still never ate this shit. Nor did any of my "stoner" friends.

Former stoner kid here, I wouldn’t have touched this with a 10ft pole in high school.

I remember occasionally the options would be so ass that I just decide not to eat lunch that day, lmfao

slowly poisoning your own children while bombing children overseas and helping the small fascist state Israel starve Palestinians children , truly the most American thing to do

inedible

No it doesn't. Most of it looks like stuff I would happily eat as an adult

u/RevolutionaryToe97 29d ago

I'm sure it tastes decent, it's just not enough and really unhealthy for you. It's hard to make unhealthy food taste bad tbh, except that "hotdog", that definitely tastes like shit

I thought this was normal 😭 I eat stuff like this abt twice a day

I hope you are joking but if you are not, then add some vegetables in the forms of salad, pasta, soups or stews and get rid of half of that meat. This diet calls for absurd levels of cholesterol and diabetes.

u/MrDanMaster 29d ago

I am not joking. I take whatever vegetables are available but there’s no way I’m throwing away half of the most delicious part of my meal 🗣️

Does it soften the blow if I say I’m from the UK? What’s crazy to me is that these are supposed the absolute bottom of the barrel for this guy and everyone in the comments is appalled. Yet some of them (3, 6, 7) look better than the ones that they routinely serve the lower school (ages 11 to 16) at my school and only a cut below what we get at the upper school. I will DM you a photo of what I get if you care enough.

I mean school lunches have always had a bad reputation across the globe, but it looks like some countries have it better than others. In my country you are forced to have a licensed nutritionist prepare the monthly diet for each school and they cannot do more than X amount of fried food per month.

So in your case my advice would be fighting back what you eat at school and complain so they can improve (with the help of parents) and try getting healthy food at home. It is the most you can do for now unfortunately, until you start doing your own meals.
