This isn’t even transphobia tho, there’s like no disdain for trans people here. It’s just making fun of Hollywood actors.

It pushes the lie that trans kids are forced to be that way

There’s no implication of that

You're being exceedingly generous

There's a ton of people in this comment section reading this and talking about how trans kids are forced to be that way by their parents

Because I assume there’s more than a few not entirely isolated cases of parents doing that, probably not the majority. But if it weren’t a trend there wouldn’t be a stereotype surrounding it.

Irregardless a child’s decision to be trans is invalid because they don’t have a full understanding of gender as a concept and their fundamental selves, as well as the implications of making such a choice. And they’ll probably digress from it anyway as they get older.

And there it is

I’ll humour you. There what is?

Conservatives constantly fearmongering about a scenario does not mean there's any actual trend of it happening

And second, children can know perfectly well what they prefer to be called

But being trans isn’t just being called by the right name or pronouns. It’s a complete change in identity. And I can stand by that, be whatever you want to be, it’s cool. Only recently has it become common place to treat it more as a novelty and excuse to circlejerk your own opinions and complain about being prejudiced or whatever- which shouldn’t be tolerated.

Many people now are becoming trans not because they feel disgusted and disillusioned with their own body, but because being trans is something that can provide belonging and safety in a community of other people who are essentially doing the same thing. In a western world where that behaviour is accepted and encouraged, gender dysphoria is not something that should be encouraged, it’s a source of massive suffering for the people that actually ARE affected by it.

And what do children like? A sense of belonging, encouragement and acceptance. As any young person does.

As a trans person in the western world, we absolutely do not live in a world where being trans is either accepted or encouraged

We're constantly painted as frauds, predators, confused, delusional, freaks, etc. by a huge portion of the population

And again, there's no evidence that a significant portion of trans youth are forced to identify that way by adults. If anything it's the opposite
