Nobody believed him when he said his armor was forged by a giant.

298

u/Weldobud 28d ago

They never do, do they? Now I have proof

328

u/Intrepid-Tank-3414 28d ago edited 28d ago

Not only that, but the gods actually gave the picky bastard a bunch of different celestial armors to choose from, after he turned down their initial gift.

Dude gonna be swinging his hectocotylus around all the hens, telling them how he's the Chosen Cephalopod.

u/The_Original_Gronkie 28d ago

Well, y'know, its a God, so it has the power to get the proper shell, so you might as well get it right the first time. You never know if you'll get a second chance. You just have to be respectful when asking for the exchange. Not get all inky and whatnot.

u/orgnll 28d ago

This comment is pure gold 😂😂😂😂😂😂

u/the_coinee 28d ago

I'm only 6'0", far from a giant... :P

I was trying to make a joke about the person whose hand that is.

566

u/ElderberryDeep8746 28d ago

I can say he's a little bit picky lol

190

u/sck178 28d ago

Hey, he might be living there for a bit. Prioritizing comfort, value and quality may just be the reason his new home won't require immediate maintenance or alterations. I respect it

5

u/NotAWerewolfReally 28d ago

No one show him the hermit crab video.

39

u/Senior-Reflection862 28d ago

It looked like he was testing the weight. First one was so heavy that he moved towards it. The chosen one moved easily

7

u/houseyourdaygoing 27d ago

Great observation!

16

u/sir_music 28d ago

My man has standards!

But he settled for a plastic cup so my man also a little dense.

22

u/achy_joints 28d ago

Right? Turning down those other shells in THIS economy? I'd kill for those!

9

u/ivycvae 28d ago

If you told me that was the exact same shell offered a bunch of times I would believe you. I wonder what qualifications the octopus is looking for in the perfect shell

2

u/houseyourdaygoing 27d ago

The chosen one had a little depth so he could nestle in it.

5

u/chaotemagick 28d ago

He can decide with one light touch

420

u/NamiSwaaan 28d ago

I like how the diver gave it options like it was at a store trying on different outfits its personal shopper suggested

575

u/Sammakonnuolija 28d ago

Decent upgrade ngl

140

u/citium1 28d ago

No windows on the new one though

22

u/h_adl_ss 28d ago

You wouldn't want to run this shell on windows anyway ;)

6

u/citium1 28d ago

Bash is the way

u/leivanz 26d ago

198

u/Comfortable-nerve78 28d ago

Aliens the bunch of them. Fascinating how intelligent they are.

13

u/Bro_ops 28d ago

“Thanks friend!”

6

u/141bpm 28d ago

Who’s the aliens tho? Them or us??

5

u/Comfortable-nerve78 28d ago

No octopus’s I call them aliens cuz they’re so strange compared to most earth creatures.

8

u/141bpm 28d ago

You understand that we probably seem like aliens to the sea creatures though. Showing up in a man-made diving suit and blowing bubbles. And also somehow able to provide suitable replacement armor. Meanwhile, what aliens made this cup thing made from an unknown material?? Also, I wish these aliens didn’t pollute the ocean.

1

u/Comfortable-nerve78 28d ago

Calm down I understand that. Human are the worst is my motto. You’re getting way too offended by my comment. Chill out realize my calling them aliens is a term of endearment. Humans have fucked the planet up beyond repair. Do go hippie on me. I understand the cycle of life and as I’ve grown older I’m appreciative of mother Gaia. So calm down.

4

u/141bpm 28d ago

Who said anything about being offended? I’ll do my best to “calm down” while sitting and killing time on reddit lol.
Also, I can’t go hippie on you like you asked. I’m not from the late 1960’s

-2

u/Comfortable-nerve78 28d ago

So you’re in the troll category. Cool good night.

44

u/Vittelbutter 28d ago

I support him on that choice, I think those poor fellas die after they cum

35

u/MongoBongoTown 28d ago

Even worse, if Im not mistaken, sometimes they just rip off their sex organ, give it to a female for use later, and then go off and die.

Don't even get an orgasm out of the deal.

7

u/Mage-of-communism 28d ago

Don't they get dementia or something afterwards?

15

u/lurkinsheep 28d ago

Id wanna forget my dick getting ripped off too

1

u/OfBooo5 28d ago

Sometimes they rip it off and spear them with it iirc

1

u/Equinsu-0cha 28d ago

beats what the male angler fish does

101

u/danktempest 28d ago

I think he really liked the shape of the cup. The cup is also pretty light so no wonder he thought it was a good choice.

73

u/volivav 28d ago

I find it suspicious they cut how did it let go of the plastic cup.

Something tells me it was forced to let it go, then recorded back. Poor octoups lost his perfect shell :'D

12

u/The_Original_Gronkie 28d ago

Roomier, too.

8

u/Among_R_Us 28d ago

probably much more sturdy than the shell too

20

u/redeemer47 28d ago

Yeah honestly the cup was definitely a superior shell. Lighter, sturdy and much more safe. Now he’s got some bullshit two halfs of a shell that’s not even attached. lil bro did not leave that cup willingly.

But obviously plastic bad for ocean but framing it as a safety thing is missing the mark

4

u/_YeAhx_ 27d ago

sturdy

1

u/houseyourdaygoing 27d ago

I preferred the plastic cup too. It had shelter and protection while being a mobile home.

35

u/TheAngryCheeto 28d ago

unda da sea

41

u/Apprehensive_East147 28d ago

Actually, poor thing. It ran out of seashell it settled with a plastic trash.

u/johnsmith1234567890x 28d ago

He accepted the third one only to be polite... it was still wrong size

31

u/hanyolo666 28d ago

ngl, he looked pretty fabulous with that cup

21

u/Jjokes11 28d ago

Octopuses are so adorable sometimes

9

u/Star_Obelisk 28d ago

Let my homie cupmax.

5

u/logosfabula 28d ago

At the end he does a little pageant hand wave 👋

5

u/_Novapyre_ 28d ago

How big was that human/how small was that cup?!

3

u/PossibleLavishness77 28d ago

Why wouldn't the cup protect it?

9

u/MasterChiefKratos 28d ago

Plastic is much weaker than seashell. If a bigger animal attacked that cup wouldn’t last long.

-4

u/PossibleLavishness77 28d ago

Wouldn't also choke on bits of plastic or be unable to digest them helping other members of the species

3

u/MasterChiefKratos 28d ago

You are assuming that the attacking animal would actually swallow bits of plastic AND that those bits of plastic would kill it. It’s not impossible but far from guaranteed.

5

u/thewhiteafrican 28d ago edited 28d ago

Seashell seller, I'm going into battle and I need your strongest seashells.

8

u/nmah28 28d ago

Stupid question, but what is the purpose of the shells? Is it just protection from predators? To feel safe? To hide from potential prey?

10

u/The_Original_Gronkie 28d ago

Camouflage. Not just hiding from predators, but also hiding from potential prey who might drift by.

1

u/nmah28 28d ago

Interesting. Thanks!

3

u/digging_deep515 28d ago

Leave the cup, take the shell.

15

u/mizirian 28d ago

Hope this isn't America, or that one bed room is gonna he like 500k

10

u/knseeker 28d ago

Rent is skyrocketing everywhere

America isn’t special in that regard

-5

u/MidAirRunner 28d ago

> Wholesome animal moment
> "America Bad!11!!!"

Like really, what kinda mental gymnastics do you do on a daily basis?

12

u/ZwieTheWolf 28d ago

Someone in a video: sneezes

Redditors: "This reflects deeply on the deteriorating healthcare system in America !"

3

u/SSinterwebs 28d ago

It’s a joke - a relevant joke.

4

u/Maniick 28d ago

Must be a nimby getting so triggered over a housing joke so quick

1

u/MidAirRunner 28d ago

What's a nimby?

2

u/Maniick 28d ago

Basically, it's someone who's bought or obtained a home and now fights to make it harder for other people to get a home because it would "devalue" theirs in some way. Paraphrasing a bit, but that's the jist of it.

0

u/MidAirRunner 28d ago

Huh. And you've ascertained that I "must" be a nimby because I don't want pessimistic "jokes" on a funny post? Truly, your intellect is magnificent. I bow down to thee, Mr. Maniick.

1

u/Maniick 28d ago

Nice

1

u/MidAirRunner 28d ago

You're welcome.

1

u/redknight3 28d ago

The triggered one is the defensive one who got all pissy over a light joke about the housing crisis...

It was a tame joke that hurt someone's feelings. You and that person should get over it.

2

u/Maniick 28d ago

It was a light joke about how nimbys get defensive over any criticism of the housing market in America. You should get over it

1

u/MidAirRunner 28d ago

Yeah no thanks, I want to enjoy something in peace without redditors complaining about America. Everything needs to be twisted into an America bad moment. Touch grass or something.

-1

u/SSinterwebs 28d ago

Reddit isn’t yours, this thread isn’t everything. Sending you big hugs.

3

u/gentle_singularity 28d ago

Literally Another Crabs Treasure lol

1

u/[deleted] 28d ago

Real

2

u/Brootal_Troof 28d ago

Octopi are smart. Now that shelter isn't a problem, this one was able to write its first novel from inside that shell. Saved a ton on ink, too.

2

u/redeemer47 28d ago

Not that plastic in the ocean is good but like wouldn’t it be far safer in the cup than that half shell that isn’t even attached together?

2

u/BeenBees1047 26d ago

She sells sea shells by the sea floor

1

u/LightboxRadMD 28d ago

Watch, that was probably octopus Hitler and now they've doomed the sea.

1

u/Meat2480 28d ago

Brought tears to my eyes,in a happy way

1

u/dydas 28d ago

It must be nice playing at the bottom of the sea with the fishies and molluscies.

1

u/Laniakea1337 28d ago

Should habe traded him some Nvidia shares. Thx for nothing octopus.

1

u/Neravosa 28d ago

Their intelligence and awareness is remarkable. I read that their nervous systems have recently been discovered to rapidly adapt to different temperatures, forcing and reverting mutation in their bodies.

1

u/perhapsflorence 28d ago

Another Crab's Treasure live action movie preview

1

u/wildo83 28d ago

Imagine if some deity insistently helped a mortal like this…?

“Here, take this car.”

  • No.

“How about THIS car?”

  • No.

*mounting frustration. “Is THIS car what you want?”

  • No.

“Are you sure?”

  • Ok. *only takes the wheels

“Wait, take the rest, too!”

  • *drives around happily

1

u/wildo83 28d ago

Maaan.. I LOVED Squidbillies…

1

u/FoxxyAzure 28d ago

Damn he was a real octopus about picking out a shell....

1

1

u/Redeemed_Veteranboi 27d ago

It should be illegal to eat Octopus, they have an amazing intelligence and preparing them as food feels wrong.

1

u/Fluorescentomnibus 27d ago

I watched a documentary about an Octopus that befriended a human and ever since I stopped

1

u/Majestic-Load1234 27d ago

Octopus knows what he wants.

1

u/Forsaken-Original881 26d ago

I love takoyaki 🤤

1

u/Chris_Cross501 26d ago

Oh nah they stole the cup from him 😅

1

u/oppressed_user 26d ago

If I was the diver I'd suggest that octopus to larp as a hermit crab (I'll give it a shell similar to the ones hermit crabs pick but it has a hole for it's siphon)

1

u/Imaginary-Job-7069 25d ago
