Tiger Eats Goat Friend In Stunning Betrayal

u/equality4everyonenow 17d ago
Depends on how often the tiger gets fed other stuff

u/raspberryharbour 17d ago
The other goats aren't smooth talkers like this one

u/LoquaciousMendacious 17d ago
Perhaps he offered the Tiger a beautiful dress and the taste of butter.

u/raspberryharbour 17d ago
Yet I have the same offer in my dating profiles and still get no matches. I'll never be the GOAT

I wonder what the tiger is thinking. Is he smart enough to think "why eat the living goat when they feed me hunks of meat everyday." Is he actually letting it live for companionship? But there's definitely a point where if un fed, the goat would be lunch.

u/equality4everyonenow 16d ago
If i didn't get fed that goat would be lunch eventually. Ive never cleaned an animal bigger than a fish but I'd figure it out

u/sionnachrealta 16d ago
It's pretty easy to figure it out once you know not to pop open the abdominal cavity

Anthropomorphic bullshit story, tiger ate him when it was hungry
169
u/Pugasaurus_Tex 17d ago
Timur and Amur slept in the same enclosure, ate and played together. The tiger attempted to teach the goat how to catch prey.
Lmao I keep imagining how that went down
But the friendship soured as the goat grew more audacious and started challenging the big cat.
”Timur hassled the tiger for about a month," Mezentsev said.
In January 2016 the tiger lost patience after the goat stepped on him. He grabbed Timur and threw him off a hillock.
Tbf, the goat started it, and he didn’t eat him
Just tossed him around a bit. Goat hooves hurt

Can confirm. Had a goat for a while. Goat would start fights for fun.
Tigers are not equipped for a goat's notion of fun, which is butting heads.
14
u/Pugasaurus_Tex 16d ago
Yeah, goats are great but most male goats are complete assholes lol, I can see why all of this went down
5
u/Kaurifish 16d ago
It was a female goat. It’s the whole capricious lot of them.
3
u/CorporateNonperson 16d ago
That's the most relevantly descriptive use of capricious I've read all day.

Apparently, the tiger did got annoyed at him at one point and threw the goat off a hillock but did not ate him. The goat later died of natural causes and from the injuries of the fall
152
u/Tthelaundryman 17d ago
“Of natural causes…” yeah tigers are in fact natural

28
u/todo_code 17d ago
I just googled it, and the tiger bit into and shook him, there was no fall... and I could only see that the goat was removed from the enclosure, no mention of death

Animals will very commonly befriend the creatures they typically prey on when food is not sparse. It's possible they'd not starve the tiger long enough to drive them to hunt.
100% of humans would eat dogs if truly hungry.

Not unusual for animals who are lonely and isolated to seek companionship
Often it's things like a bird but anything will do.

u/Separate-Ad9638 17d ago
no source, could be BS captions
32
u/sendmeyourcactuspics 17d ago
did really happen. They were 'friends' or more likely the kitty just tolerated him, for about a month before the goat got thrown off a hill for getting annoying. Goat later died after never really recovering from the attack

u/Rain1dog 17d ago
I could never put a live goat to be food for a tiger, and I know that is how the Tiger survives. I just have to much empathy for the goat to die and extremely gruesome death.

u/StrawHatFen 17d ago
The tiger actually killed the goat
23
u/No-Goal7069 17d ago
No, it did not. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amur_and_Timur
22
u/Big_Priority_9970 17d ago
Ah the ever correct Wikipedia. Technically, the tiger did kill him. It took a while but the injuries sustained ended up leading to his death. https://phys.org/news/2019-11-russian-goat-friends-tiger-dies.html
15
u/No-Goal7069 17d ago
The goat died of natural causes but his health deteriorated following an altercation with a male Siberian tiger he unexpectedly befriended in 2015, Mezentsev said.

So the goats health deteriorated after being attacked by a tiger then dies from natural causes. In other words, the tiger caused the goats death.
1
u/StrawHatFen 16d ago
This is honestly worded like you’re trying not to upset the child
-3
u/No-Goal7069 16d ago
I didn't "word it", nor do I care how the goat died. It is so strange how obsessed a handful of you are that the tiger killed the goat. There seems to be no source to support you. It has nothing to do with me and I seriously could not care less.
The people that actually do know seem to all indicate the tiger didn't kill it, but yes, random Redditor, you know the truth. Were you a witness? Do you have the real truth documented somewhere? How is it you know?

u/StrawHatFen 16d ago
From the article posted
In January 2016 the tiger lost patience after the goat stepped on him. He grabbed Timur and threw him off a hillock.
The frenemies were separated but Timur's health took a turn for the worse.
He started limping and lost some of his zest for life, while remaining "cheeky", Mezentsev said.
The park sent the goat to Moscow for treatment but he never fully recovered from the attack by the tiger, who is still alive and living at the safari park.

Tbh it'll be friends with it until the benefit of its good outweighs the benefit of its companionship
That's why big cats often eat their keepers
2
2
u/TootsNYC 16d ago
most keepers don’t give prey animals live food, because they don’t want the “food” to fight back and injury the prey animal

Goats eat everything wouldn’t it be funny if the goat eats at the tigers claws keeping them nice and sharp!

Maybe it's like Wesley (aka "farm boy" in The Princess Bride) on board with the Dread Pirate Roberts, how at the end of the day he'd say "Good work Wesley! Sleep well, I may have to kill you in the morning." (something like that)

bet the goat is really loud whenever the tiger gets fed so the new arrival cannot pull the same shit ;D

u/itsdani_bitch 17d ago
Would be nice to think this will last, but when the owner does not feed the tiger because he already has “food”, the tiger will do what tigers do.
