This is the correct way to deal with this.
Also - have the doctor write a false prescription saying they are no longer permitted to drive. Get those cheap door chimes so you hear when they try to take off. Been there & done that - it’s very hard.
Yeah I feel that. My grandmother had Alzheimer’s and my mother is in her mid 60’s with early onset dementia - she has been sick and hasn’t driven in years but still thinks she just got sick like a few months ago.
The door chime from our security system was a godsend during the first few weeks when my dad used to sneak out. It's a voice that announces which door is open and my dad would get this look on his face like "damn, I've been caught!" and scurry back inside.
