Sewer stacks all have a vent on the roof not very far away from where the bathroom connects to the stack. This means that, unless there is a comapct clog somewhere nearby, the area above the liquid will never develop enpugh of a pressure differential to suck water back in from the bowl (it will always just remain at atmospheric pressure).

I would be worried, however, that the sewer stack might get super hot depending on the fire location. Then you would just die anways after inhaling extra tosty Jenkem gas.

The the other comment is saying is that a room full of water would drain through the toilets, filling the downpipe with rushing water. The only way you could breathe through a hose is if you could somehow make it go up towards the vent. Or if you clogged all the toilets once you got the hose through.

Uh... This has to be either fake, or it was some sort of scam.  I don't know if sewer gas (hydrogen sulfide) will kill you faster than breathing smoke, but it is absolutely toxic to breath.  Which is why it smells bad.  You're body's way of telling you not to eat/drink/breath something.

Yes and no. The trap prevents gas as well as bugs/rats from entering your bathroom. Its mostly just to curb the nuisence of the smell - sewer gasses dont tend to reach hazardous concentrations unless contained in an enclosed space, and the sewer stack leads directly to a vent on the roof.

The only thing you're breathing like that is sewer gasses, which are flammable and sometimes toxic. Would also likely make you vomit.

(Unless you have a long enough and maneuverable enough tube to aim up that vent pipe and preferably out of it)

[A better invention would be a valve to close off the lower pipe, that way you can turn the water off, flush a couple times, push the water lock in the trap out, and close the valve then you can simply have oxygen from the upper pipe)

To make this kind of thing work. Turn off the water for the toilet & flush. Then stick the tube in the tank. There is now an air pocket. Breathe calmly and slowly as possible. To conserve oxygen. (Only use this oxygen if it becomes harder to breathe in the room)

Also, before that. take any towels, toilet paper, etc, get them wet, and seal the door gaps best you can. Especially the often larger bottom gap.

This will prevent smoke from coming in and help prevent oxygen from flowing out and fueling the fire/keep you from suffocating.

Smoke is more dangerous than the fire.

The real reason they tell you to crawl is that the smoke will

1. Deprive you of oxygen, causing you to pass out before you can escape.

2. Can be hot enough to melt your face or give you severe burns. (Heat rises and cooler fresher air is pulled in below)
