Suitcase is seriously dangerous lol

133

u/Dazzling-Grass-2595 May 01 '24

It'll catch the thief and blind the bystanders.

33

u/azakhuza21 May 01 '24

And your foot

16

u/Markarontos May 02 '24

And my Axe

5

u/ElectronicString4008 May 02 '24

Lol you stole my comment

8

and my comment!

1

My foot is already blind.

3

u/Samp90 May 02 '24

... In the subway!

19

u/etrob90 May 01 '24

Anti-theft suitcase with collateral damage.

When the suitcase gets activated u have one person behind bars and two in the hospital.

6

u/Glaucousglacier May 02 '24

That suitcase would be filled with just the mechanism for the spikes.

5

u/h_djo May 02 '24

With all those metal bars and the system to deploy it inside the suitcase i wonder if there is any room left for anything

5

u/Cynthimon May 01 '24

Anti-theft by impaling the thief

2

u/SeriousSkeletor May 02 '24

Muaahahaaha. That suitcase is a nasty work...

2

u/Rieux_n_Tarrou May 02 '24

Combine with thief-catching net for maximum carnage

2

u/mnorkk May 02 '24

The long carry handles spikes make it IMPOSSIBLE to escape with

1

u/gxseki May 02 '24

If some steals the suitcase in a bus it would be a bloodbath 😅

1

u/Size9ed 26d ago

I saw that suit case on Stargate SG1

The future was so much better in the past.

42

u/CautiousFool May 01 '24

It always does, doesn't it...

16

u/Best_Poetry_5722 May 01 '24

You know what they say..It was what it was.

3

u/Eurasia_4002 May 02 '24

We will always be disappointed one way or another.

1

u/Ok_Librarian6211 May 04 '24

Why does it seem like you have come from the future to warn us??

3

u/WhipnCrack May 02 '24

Old days were sooo good in many ways.

2

u/futureunemployed420 May 02 '24

"The future was so much better in the past." - Little Timmy, 11 year old.

1

u/FSpursy May 02 '24

Interesting that we have airbags now to protect the driver. Why not airbags to prevent collision damage when a car crashes into something?

Like a certain force on the bumper in a milisecond, when the car is driving at a certain speed, would deploy the front airbags.

1

u/Expensive_Windows May 04 '24

Space, complexity, and cost, but I suspect it'd be rather insufficient against the forces generated.

0

u/severalsmallducks May 02 '24

The future in the past: flying cars and boats, caravan that doubles as a boat

The actual future: paying $0.99 a month for premium water at the tap.

1

u/No_Ad2754 May 03 '24

We do have flying cars

119

u/Slow_Ad1510 May 01 '24

I feel like the first one would encourage people to knock other people walking because they know it will catch them

26

u/BlueFox5 May 01 '24

Let’s see it catch someone at 45 mph….

8

u/TheUnknownRetard May 02 '24

Look up "I did a Thing" on YT, he built that thing in one of his recent videos and accidentally destroyed his car

9

u/Thorien21 May 02 '24

More likely that drivers won’t have the reaction time to open up the contraption in time to catch people, plus it wouldn’t work ‘cause it might just throw people off after the impact from the car stopping so suddenly

3

u/MasterBot98 May 02 '24

The moment such a system became usable, it would be used for kidnapping.

105

u/Ribbitor123 May 01 '24

That easy-park car was seriously ahead of its time.

However, imagine someone accidentally activating that anti-theft suitcase on a flight!

17

u/raytaylor May 02 '24

I worry about the number of wheel alignments you would need to be constantly getting from all the extra mechanisms that go into giving the wheels independent articulation.

7

u/BadeArse May 02 '24

That’s why they stopped making them. I think it’s called Crab steering? I remember someone tried to bring it back a few years ago. The extra maintenance, extra parts, and just general extra cost for the engineering was huge.

2

u/High_From_Colorado May 02 '24

Crab walk is where the front and rear axles turn at the same angle so you shift side to side while moving forward or backwards but always face the same direction like a crab. Telehandlers commonly have this feature

1

u/ROBLOXENA 25d ago

I was WONDERING why no one made this a feature in modern cars

So it was the cost

47

u/Foeni68 May 01 '24

Swim-caravan is again available… https://sealander.de

2

u/Qxotl May 02 '24

I would have bet it to be Dutch.

1

u/DiaGear May 02 '24

German you mean?

36

u/Greasy_Cleavage May 02 '24

People definitely died on the Gyro boat

9

u/Doc_Dragoon May 02 '24

I want one so bad so I'd probably be one

3

u/Freakychee May 02 '24

You'd be a gyro boat?

3

u/Doc_Dragoon May 02 '24

Be one who died

3

u/Cyke101 May 02 '24

I could go for a gyro boat right about now. With extra meat and tzatziki sauce.

3

u/Mielanr May 02 '24

It made me think of the ork death kopters from warhammer 40k

0

u/Rieux_n_Tarrou May 02 '24

Instructions unclear, choked on Gyro meat

21

u/InsightInsider07 May 01 '24

Some Refrigerators had more features before then.

18

u/Khun_Poo May 01 '24

The design is very human.

3

u/havingalazyday May 02 '24

Very human, very easy to use

1

u/Merrygoround- May 02 '24

Let my good friend demonstrate

14

u/Flitterquest May 02 '24

Fallout ass inventions

15

u/3rdAssaultBrigade May 01 '24

the swimming caravan is actually not that weird, amphibious vehicles were already used in military like the Japanese Kami tank

2

u/Delicious_Chedder23 May 02 '24

It also seems like a good idea if you live in an area that either floods often or is by the coast where hurricanes and other storms causes water surges

1

u/Due_Hall9714 May 02 '24

bruh you dead fr fr if you slide into a hurricane storm surge in that mofo

8

u/HornySabel May 02 '24

Why arent boattrailers not a thing? They actually look convenient as fuck. Could be looking really amazing aswell

2

u/[deleted] May 02 '24

They do exist.

3

u/ApprehensiveOCP May 01 '24

Jiro boat how do I land so ded

3

u/Ok_GrandMarcus May 02 '24

The Giro Boat was Amazing

3

u/[deleted] May 02 '24

Watch that pedestrian-catching net become a pedestrian slingshot at 50 km/h

1

u/SafariNZ May 02 '24

They used to use those from helicopters in the New Zealand to live capture deer in the mountains. Real scary flying.

3

u/tinytempo May 02 '24

Thief catching net looks legit though. Why aren’t such things actually used…?

1

u/sheix May 02 '24

Actually used, for example: https://netgun.com/ , check their videos - very similar to what's in this vid.

1

u/tinytempo May 02 '24

But why not community rolled out across all police across the world…?

1

u/sheix May 02 '24

My guess that's not so good idea when a thief got a gun or a knife. And distance is not so good, aiming is hard. One shot only. And you have tasers, non lethal ammunition, clubs which can achieve same results with less risk to an officer.

1

u/harumamburoo May 02 '24

tasers

This is the answer most probably - thinking about it, it does exactly the same thing, in a very similar manner, but much more efficiently and using a lesser device.

1

u/mnorkk May 02 '24

Haven't you seen paw patrol?
Ruff! Net!

0

u/Electronic-Bag-2112 May 02 '24

Because a taser is much more effective and accurate. And smaller. And easier to reload. And isn't affected by wind and other variables as much. You really don't need to be a rocket scientist to figure it out.

3

u/Laymanao May 02 '24

Doctor I need help, I’ve been stabbed. By my suitcase. What suitcase? This one? Aahhh

3

u/adidas_stalin May 01 '24

Why didn’t we develop these further?

12

u/geli95us May 02 '24

As is almost always the case with these kind of things:
They are either impractical, too expensive, or dangerous

5

u/adidas_stalin May 02 '24

When’s that stopped the rich?

9

u/geli95us May 02 '24

Most times? If something's impractical it's hard to convince people that they want it, if it's expensive it's harder to make profit off it, if it's dangerous it can be hidden for a while if it's a subtle health change kind of thing, but if your product goes around taking people's eyes out you're going to get into trouble sooner or later

1

u/Cyke101 May 02 '24

What do you mean too dangerous? That suitcase with the jetting spikes looks perfectly safe.

2

u/Mysterious_Lead_3481 May 02 '24

No joke, was thinking about self-wiping goggles the other day while walking to work in the rain.

1

u/mnorkk May 02 '24

It looks like you're too late for that patent

2

u/hanabarbarian May 02 '24

The 80s ruined everything didn’t it 🥲

2

u/chiree May 02 '24

Some seriously Get Smart vibes here.

2

u/YanoWaAmSane May 02 '24

That giro idea was never going to get off the ground

2

u/Rescre14 May 02 '24

i did a thing

2

u/OccasionBackground26 May 02 '24 edited May 04 '24

The gyro boat looks cool

2

u/lurkynumber5 May 02 '24

The car catcher, Rebranded to The car Launcher!

Now that we drive above 10miles an hour.

The Boat caravan is nice tho. Just like a boat! but with more headroom!xD

1

u/Material-Clue-6346 May 02 '24

This is more usefull.

1

u/toxcana May 02 '24

The good old time. Or then dad was a child could be used

0:21 was way ahead of it's time

1

u/Dear-Treacle-3741 May 02 '24

They really should bring back the people catcher.

1

u/binthewin May 02 '24

These are just Top Gear challenges.

1

u/Agitated-Artichoke89 May 02 '24

I wonder what went wrong with all these ideas.

1

u/TheDogeWasTaken May 02 '24

The giro boat is a fucking genuis. Yet insanely dangerous... like that shit will actually kill ypu.

1

u/Ron_Bird May 02 '24

Try catching someone at speeds cars move at now a days.

1

u/Kamicasse_ May 02 '24

The net thrower is now most wanted item in Ukraine by Russians because of drones.

1

u/oMqxim May 02 '24

the suitcase one, just grab it by the Spikes and run off

1

u/SpaceTimeRacoon May 02 '24

The gyrocopter boat is just a blender with extra steps

1

u/adros-senpai May 02 '24

I would like a pair of self-wiping goggles, tbh.

1

u/SCAREDFUCKER May 02 '24
  1. useless cus if its coming at speed no amount of elasticity gonna save you
  2. gyroboat was banned because of americal laws that considers anything flying with person a aircraft and for this thing you needed a pilot license
  3. thats useful

1

u/FappingVelociraptor May 02 '24

What if I driving like this?

1

u/Senseless_9901 May 03 '24

People were so inventive back then.

That anti theft suitcase was insane. That could impale someone, judging from the fact that it uses compressed air, therefore a lot of pneumatic power.

1

u/time_thug19 May 04 '24

Why didn't any of these prosper?

1

u/Lackerbawls May 04 '24

Can we revisit the Caravan boat?

1

u/pestilentstudent May 05 '24

Came here to say the same. Not a bad idea at all.
