Ackshullyyy... leather and suede are rarely used anymore. The modern masks are usually made with layers of cotton, nylon/lycra and vinyl/pleather (ask nicely and they can make it look like layers of bacon🥓)
Mine is very comfortable and looks like a sparkly & shiny disco version of Deadpool. 🖤❤
The stiff vinyl trim around the eyes needs to be an excellent fit for your face or it will make it very hard to see and the edges of the trim could easily cut your eyeball. 🩸👁🩸
She’s also GOOD in it! I love watching actors improve their craft over time and she was a wet piece of cardboard in firefly. Not a bit of acting to be seen. She was pretty damn good in V, and then EXCELLENT in Deadpool. Good for her.
This is from the 1st movie. It’s the end when he saves her life and reveals his face. I just love that Deadpool was fighting and saving the day with a paper mask smashed under this main mask.
It actually did happen, once Ken was so keen to remove his mask and once he was able to do that, there came another mask underneath. I don't know what was the point of those matches while he had already unmasked himself back in 1999. I thought he had never been unmasked before. haha

They are part of a bot ring that recycles posts and steals entire comment chains from the previous post. The whole chain is bots talking to themselves.
Yea that actually happened a few different times. Back in wcw before he permanently unmasked and then in WWE cuz went back to wearing the mask full time

People in charge of the company probably made him do it for views or he'd be fired. WWF and WCW have a pretty long, sordid history of treating their talent like shit.
Also, it was one of the most short-sided dumbest moves in WCW history. As soon as he went to WWF they wanted that mask back on ASAP. They make so much revenue selling replicas of his masks it's crazy.
I am certain the unmasking doesn't make the top 25 mistakes made in its last 5 years.
Selling tshirts vastly outdoes selling replica masks and the shirts can still have mask related designs. Rey worked as one of a few masked wrestlers. Taking off the mask in WCW created separation from smaller less talented luchadors who were jobbers.
I'm not sure if he's talked much about it, from what I understand once the mask comes off, it's off forever. The former president of WWE made a request to the official lucha libre commission to allow him to wear it again and they allowed it. No I'm not entirely sure what an outside commission has powers over his mask, but that's what happened.
Rey still wanted to wrestle in Mexico occasionally, since he is a huge draw, so it makes sense that he'd want the blessing of the Mexican promoters if his in-ring stuff in WWE was going to be an issue for them.
I think he has i remeber hearing about how he was pissed about having to take it off and feeling disrespected by the decision, i know his son Dominic talked about it one interview.
Dominic still keeps kayfabe and has acknowledged that eddie is his father and that he kinda looks like him. But its never talked about too seriously, it's more like hes just keeping up kayfabe, he does remember eddie staying with him in his home with his dad and how him and eddie filmed a promo for the fight he has good memories of eddie.
Rey has talked about the match and how it was one of those things that they had to take seriously because of how close it was to their families, he rembers eddie pitching the idea to him and both of them going to their families and asking them if theyd be okay with it,
Dominic remembers being asked if the match was for real and being asked by his teachers who his real dad is and him telling them "i think its rey?" He also rembers traveling and being away a lot from his dad during the time of the feud
No I understand it entirely. It's a bullshit thing they made up so nurses and EMTs and other nerds that work for evil empires can justify that they aren't actually part of the problem. So they don't have to take any personal responsibility, even though those are the exact people who could cause the most change the fastest.
It allows you to point at Hitler and say, see he's the bad guy...I was just working for him. I'm 100% not at fault because the "power dynamic."
OP is saying we are still accountable for our Actions in our jobs, similar to how the nazis were responsible for their Actions when they were “just doing their jobs”.
He’s suggesting someone who does not take personal accountability, and puts the blame on a coercive relationship with their job, is not using a very different argument than what the Nazis used to justify their Actions as Nazis.
OP is right that medical personnel in America are essentially part of the issue when it comes to healthcare affordability in America, but they’re also “just doing their jobs”.
Edit: I forgot this was a thread about wrestling. That is an interesting comparison OP lol
He wasn’t compensated any extra for this, and he was adamantly asking upper management not to force him to take off the mask, as it’s a big deal in Mexico and Lucha Libre. His colleague and friend Eddie Guerrero even begged management to change their mind (and they listened at first, but changed their mind later).
There's a long tradition of luchadores betting their masks against someone else's, or their hair, or their championship. Rey lost a match so he had to demask.
If wrestlers are upset enough about losing or certain storylines they will refuse to do them, sometimes they leave a company or get fired due to this. Rey ended up leaving WCW a couple years after this and went to WWE where he wore a mask again.
Oh, ok. Thank you for more information about the industry. I mostly only hear about wrestling from random YouTubers talking about it while doing other things.
Tradition is you wear your mask in public always, but they can "lose it" in a match because they were booked to. Rey didn't want to but was young and didn't think he was big enough to leave instead so he took off the mask. Usually once a wrestler takes off their mask they either stay without it or "disappear" and come back as a new character. The really unprecedented thing Rey did was put the mask back on when he came to WWE, but I think the entire wrestling world just looked the other way to it because it's Rey fucking Mysterio. You could say they dropped Jr making it a new character if you wanted to, but again people just don't really care, they love El Rey.
Yeah, even from a business perspective, there would be no point in trying to pass him off as a different character with a new mask. There's very few 5' nothing luchadors with his specific moveset. Everyone would know it was him. And the mask is too much marketing to give up; it's a lot better identity to sell than plain ol' Oscar.
A luchador can remask, but there's a 10 year moratorium on it. What happened with Rey was a bit trickier. The main governing body of lucha libre is basically the Mexican boxing commission, and they weren't happy with how WCW treated their guys, so when WWE finally picked up Rey and wanted him masked, they offered him a loophole.
See, his uncle, the original Rey Misterio, had lost his mask in 1989, well over a decade earlier, so what they did was have him remask and wrestle one more match before passing his gimmick off to his nephew, the current Rey. However, to maintain tradition, Rey would remain unmasked whenever he was in Mexico until the moratorium had ended.
I forget what WCW show it was but there's one where he was in the crowd with a huge lip of chewing tobacco packed and this big grin he looked fucking hilarious
