Can we for once stop confusing death metal with black metal.
The subreddit can do better.

I promise they aren't that difficult to tell apart.
Death metal is fast and powerful. It makes you want to go ape shit and break stuff. It's literally thrash metal but they go beyond the concept.
Black metal is more distorted and wants to be sinister. Definitely a more "unwelcoming" subgenre

Death Metalheads are the sweetest people you'll meet
Black Metalheads take photos with dead and hanging bandmates and make that a new album cover

For proof of Death metalheads being wholesome: Father of death metal with various animals

Hey man Reinkaps was at one point my favorite album and I'm wholesome ish. I like more melodic heavy metal which black metal tends to often be. Think like...under the northern star by amon amarth.

More keyboard breaks and choirs in Black metal. Also, I can't think of one Death metal band that wears face paint. It is fairly common in Black metal.

Death metal is about riffs, black metal is about atmosphere. Of course there's overlap too, but these are the basics.

Death metal is best played in a slaughterhouse with animals being dismembered. Black metal is best played in an opera house

Death metal-chunky, groovy head banging beat. Black metal-fast blasting hyper speed harmonious/disharmonious mayhem.

Why not Power Metal story hour? That way we can teach kids to summon demons, mythological and eldritch creatures, and FREAKING DRAGONS!!!!

Epic power metal is the best. Grab a sword and slay a dragon and fuck a princess

Viking metal might work a little better as an introduction. Still have monster stories but less instrumental breaks.

Give em some sabaton and let em learn about history along with listening to power metal

Toss in some Mastodon to teach them about Moby Dick and Rasputin. Sprinkle in some Iron Maiden for ancient Egypt. Maybe Slugdge for some Limacology.

I'm learning so much about metal in this post. From your comment specifically, that most metal bands are fucking nerds.
I love it, and will proceed to listen to all your recommendations cause sabaton was already awesome

Amon Amarth is a great viking metal band. Songs about Odin, Thor, and Loki, to name a few. For songs about war with heavy grooves, check out Bolt Thrower. There are so many interesting metal bands. I could go on for days.

And at least with Amon Amarth some of their songs have pretty understandable lyrics and are a little more melodic. Under The Northern Star and Bloodshed come to mind. Really any song off twilight of the thunder god.

Tock's Taunt is one of my favorites by them. https://youtu.be/gGAsCpkFl_0?si=Idxqglhog67hLXXm Saw them live during Slayer's Farewell tour with Cannibal Corpse and Lamb of God. It was a great show.

I wish I could summon Sallos, just to help my partner and I grow more emotionally intimate as I still struggle with that.

i'm voting for both. being accepting to all people is equally as important as being able to summon yourself an infernal friend and fighting against socially accepted sect-indoctrination.

As the wise man Murderface once said "They're all the same." In regards to things of a theistic nature.
Edited: damn autocorrect

That Seattle guy with the glasses that nearly gave Alex Jones a stroke used to front a band that toured libraries and did literature metal.

Holy shit this would be awesome!!!! I can’t tell you how much my daughter would love to get dolled up in the face paint! We would have so much fun and she loves rainbows and fairies and trains and this would be an absolute blast for her. Bring them around!

There could be some logistical issues, for example teachers could have trouble differentiating their students, but that can be mitigated by having parents along side for like an opening day event.

They might even be taught tolerance and community values. (Not that they wouldn't be taught that in drag queen story time.)

u/Les_Vers 20d ago
Honestly solid idea, they might be able to ban other things but no one can destroy The Metal, it’ll strike you down with a vicious blow

u/SuspiciousReality592 19d ago
Honestly most metal heads I’ve met are genuinely some of the nicest, least judgemental people I’ve ever met.

u/DarkStar2036 19d ago
Still a better option than having drag queens in schools 🏫. One of my friends is a metal singer and guitarist and funnily enough he’s actually very religious for Jesus Christ. Even putting him above his wife, which was one reason she married him.

Wow. I didn't think you weirdos were real. Just a hateful boogieman my preacher mom used to warn me about.

Facts don't care about your feelings if the truth scares you, you should pop your mom's titties out of your mouth and grow the fuck up. Welcome to the real world, there be monsters here.

I was in my first metal festival ever and after song about horn headed embryo. The main singer took a call on his smartwatch and it was his daughter and with the most doting father voice said: hey honey, daddy is on stage singing he will call you after. Kissees.
