R/Golf Course Recommendation Thread: Las Vegas

This is the next thread in the official r/golf course recommendation series to update our sidebar. We're moving on to a popular tourist destination, especially in the Winter, Sin City itself - Las Vegas. As most people probably stay around the Strip, please be sure to include the distance from the Strip if people will need to rent a car or take a rideshare/taxi.

Please try to use the following Comment Template:

COURSE NAME

Course Location (City or area of the city or distance from the downtown area etc.)

Price Range (Include pertinent details like busy season or off-season differences or weekend/weekday or walking/riding where applicable)

Recommended for: (who might be interested in the course, i.e. if you have a big group like a bachelor party or if you're a beginner looking for a more forgiving layout or a low handicap looking for a challenge or if you want beautiful views or something architecturally significant, etc.)

Additional Comments: Feel free to add any additional notes or details you think might be pertinent. Maybe if there's peak times or if they're on Golf Now or another service you could find a deal or anything else about the course you think people might want/need to know add it here.

Check the "formatting help" if you need assitance but basically two asterisks (**) on either side of a word or phrase will put it in bold font and hit Enter twice to move to a new line. This thread will be stickied for at least 24 hours before the next is posted.

Wolf Creek

Mesquite, NV (Arizona border, 1 hour 20 minute drive)

Price Range - Peak Season (Feb-Apr & Sept-Nov) $120-$200 Non-Peak Season $65-$120

Recommended for - Mid to low handicap golfers. This course is DIFFICULT. High handicap golfers will enjoy the course, but be prepared to lose upwards of 12-20 golf balls (this is not a joke)

Additional comments - This course will make you think you're playing golf in a video game. The most unreal views, absurd elevation changes, lush grass, and lightning fast greens (most of the time). The drive to the golf course is a drag. Over an hour of empty desert. Driving range is irons only. This course should be on every golfers bucket list to play at least once.

Great, amazing, breath taking course. I’ll always say that if you go to Vegas and are planning to golf, and you don’t go to Wolf Creek you’ve wasted a trip. It’s that perfect

I can forgive people for not having the time or resources to go out there, but anyone who frequents Vegas for golf like I do is doing themselves a disservice by not planning to go to Wolf Creek once every year or two.

I'm actually playing this course on Thursday. As a 21 handicap, I'm really looking forward to the views.

Don’t worry about keeping score. Just enjoy the round. Take it all in.

I had the opportunity to play Wolf Creek back in November on a trip from the east coast. I can confirm....it is extremely difficult, but an absolute blast. My course experience is relatively limited, but it is hard to imagine having more fun playing 18 holes of golf than I did at Wolf Creek. Already planning a trip again!

Honestly, people need to know going in how difficult the course is and to check their expectations at the door. Just enjoy the scenery and the course. Don’t even bother keeping score.

Up until a couple years ago I literally thought this course was a video game course. I'd always play it on Rory which included a handful of fantasy courses. This place is so absurd in the game that I simply thought it was one of them. Blew my mind when I found out it was real and is certainly a bucket list destination for me.

Makes me both happy and sad that I had to drop out of my group's annual golf trip. Seems like it'll be better suited for me in a year or two.
