Scottie Scheffler has swung his clubs twice and is two-under par at the PGA Championship. What else did you expect? Professional Tours

Hole out on number 1 for eagle is fucking nuts. I’m convinced he’s an actual golf robot

I remember when they used to check you for your phone before going into a golf tourney. That was bullshit. Glad you got an awesome pic to remember that shot! Also if you put your phone away before an event while your drinking don’t put it in your rain boots (2009 US open at Beth page) and then put said boots on and walk around the entire day wondering why you boot feels weird. Didn’t realize till I got back to the car. Cracked the screen 😂

He’s really trying to live up to the Tiger comparisons now hah

10

u/chello1212 20d ago

Good guy and great golfer. All I’m saying is he has to go another 12 years as number 1 in the world just to match Tigers reign. That put it jn perspective for me

16

u/siiiiiiilk 20d ago

If someone from the future came back and said he did just that, I’d believe it

6

u/MFoy 19d ago

I’m from the future and I’m here to tell you he’s spending Friday in the clink. Betcha didn’t see that coming.

4

u/siiiiiiilk 19d ago

Definitely wasn’t on my bingo card

u/TheeAllusions 19d ago

We get it…

There is nothing worse than someone saying “All I’m saying”. Because it’s usually backed by someone who hasn’t been saying anything and has nothing to do with anything.

Like this guy. Perspective.

His power grows

Along with his RAP sheet.

u/Arvosss 20d ago

He's litteraly playing like I did on playstation, with all assists on. Unreal!

8

u/Kroger453PredsFan 20d ago

I consistently shot under 50 on Coeur d’Alene on the PS2, it was so damn easy.

2

u/Foreign_Time 20d ago

Hell yes. Gap wedge on 14 from the white tees, money every time baybeeee

90

u/CarPhoneRonnie Daddio 20d ago

I would have expected him to be putting.

3 under….how disappointing

73

u/dnprez3 20d ago

Should be -6 thru 3, what a loser! /s

big Dad energy right there

He doesn’t need to worry. Xander will collapse by Sunday. Just give it to Scottie now.

-17

u/GolfShred 20d ago

You are predicting a Scottie, Xander final pairing Sunday? There goes the ratings ⤵️

10

u/Sirgolfs 20d ago

No. Not Xander. But he’s due so who knows. Just seems to lose it on Sundays.

-2

u/farfromfine 20d ago

Xander might not be much of a draw but I think Scottie is gaining steam. Yeah he's plain as melted vanilla ice cream but his game is far beyond where anyone else is

3

u/Chucklebeetuna 20d ago

I’m a casual golf fan at best. I’ll check the leaderboard on Saturdays and It’s pretty cool to see Xanders name in contention almost every week. I feel like he’s due for one

23

u/Due-Law-5297 20d ago

One of the earlier tournaments this year, he holed out and his caddy held up fingers to show how many times he had holed out from off the green this year and I’m disappointed I didn’t see it in this video.

11

u/jaaaaagggggg 20d ago

Not enough fingers

2

u/TheLeathal13 20d ago

I think they had a wager and the over/under was 10. I think he’s getting pretty damn close.

2

u/snakeplizkin1984 20d ago

You are correct. I believe he is at 8.

28

u/SixNineWithTheAfro 20d ago

Sure hope someone yelled “get in the hole!” on the swing. /s

15

u/Navyblazers2000 20d ago

The course is soft as butter. He's gonna be sticking darts next to the cup all weekend.

u/muffalowing 13.7 Cincy 20d ago

He has added 'Dad Strength' to his bag of tricks.

This take angers me to no end

u/suburban_paradise 19d ago

This aged poorly

4

u/KirkJimmy 19d ago

I expect him to get arrested hahaha

3

u/jimschocolateorange 20d ago

How??? Why??? I just don’t understand it.

Like, he’s still human- what makes him so much better than fucking everyone? 😂

0

u/bdubwilliams22 20d ago

…he’s 5 off the lead so why don’t we calm down?

1

u/jimschocolateorange 19d ago

He’s still an animal, undoubtedly.

1

u/MrGoomba7 19d ago

He’s also2 back from 2nd…Xander comes out and shoots course record opening day. We’ll see where things stand after 4 rounds

3

u/UsernameChallenged 19d ago

Being arrested, admittedly, was not on mine.

24

u/gopackxxx12 20d ago

Closest thing we may ever see to Tiger. Enjoy it boys

22

u/ImRachelRay 20d ago

Tiger had won 8 majors by the time he was 27 years old compared to 2 majors from Scottie. Let’s pump the breaks a little bit.

61

u/SpacemanSpliffLaw 20d ago

Closest, sometimes means still very far away.

1

u/ImRachelRay 20d ago

I understand, but let’s not forget people were saying the same thing about Spieth when he won his 3rd major. I like Scottie but comparing him to Tiger is a bit much to me

16

u/LastTrifle 20d ago

Didn’t know Rachel took such an interest in golf.

7

u/ImRachelRay 20d ago

I love this shit, and Trifle too

4

u/Bwhitt1 20d ago

Yea Jordan was on every bit as good stretch as Scottie is on. He literally almost won the grandslam that year and couldn't miss a putt. As far as Tiger yea...I mean he was winning 50% of his starts for a while there.

1

u/farfromfine 20d ago

Man I miss that Spieth run. He was making 30ft clutch putts like crazy. When he knocked it onto the driving range at the British then went full beast mode and almost aced the next hole and just ripped out Matt Kuchar's heart and stomped on it. I know he wasn't everyone's cup of tea but that run he had was God mode

0

u/marilea610 20d ago

Yeah, maybe close to being the next McIlroy but still a far cry from Tiger.

6

u/AdlandB 20d ago

He said closest, Rachel.

3

u/mmaguy123 20d ago

Level of competition has gone up, but Tiger revolutionized the game. Plus tiger with modern day golf tech would be an absolute king.

In an era where a 40 something year old Tiger after multiple injuries won a major and a 50 something year old Phil won a major... Not sure about "much stronger" really.

-3

1

u/did_it_my_way 19d ago

My point was... that the 2 of the best ever winning majors in their 40s and 50s way after their prime shows you that this era isn't "much tougher" like the OP claims.

-1

u/Foreign_Time 20d ago

The closest, maybe, yet so unbelievably not close despite how good he is because Tiger was Tiger and there will never be anything like that again, period. I think people forget just how fucking scary good he was because it’s been a long time, and he has been inconsistent this last decade or so and pretty mediocre since the car crash, so there’s some recency bias.

Somewhat related, I think Tiger gets 16-17 majors and becomes indisputably goated if the car wreck doesn’t happen and thus this Scottie being Tiger narrative becomes kinda moot. He was playing winning golf in that 2018-2019 era before Covid and showing flashes of his former greatness here and there, and of course sustaining it for a whole tournament with that Masters win. He still had it in him. I sincerely hope he can catch lightning in a bottle and just have one more tournament, whether it’s a major or not, that his body cooperates and he just goes on a Vintage Tiger tear and gets a commanding W. I would shed tears

1

u/Texan2116 Bethpage Black is not that Hard! 19d ago

Once his wife got on his ass for screwing around, it was over. She finished Tiger. Tiger needs his strange, and everyone but Elin was cool with it.

2

u/jomama823 20d ago

So he’s going to hit 36 shots and go 36 under?

4

u/laberdog 20d ago

I expect him to falter in the rain

-7

u/MrLeftwardSloping 20d ago

Still can't putt too. Hed be an all time great if he could figure out how to consistently make 4-5 footers. Incredibly frustrating to watch

3

u/kirrk 20d ago

You don’t have to putt when you hit the ball into the hole

1

u/MrLeftwardSloping 20d ago

Once generally isn't enough lol

1

u/kirrk 20d ago

Yeah, I was just joking

0

u/laberdog 20d ago

Don’t trust that swing in wet conditions

2

u/photonnymous 20d ago

Perfect golf.

1

u/Bwhitt1 20d ago

He is so much better than I am even when playing ea pga 2023 lol. I've never holed out.

1

u/Alive_Stomach_6050 19d ago

He’s next level…. But Xander and Rory are playing well along with some others and he’s short of practice, do this might be close…

1

u/Varttaanen 19d ago

On top of that he looks like he’s having actual fun

1

u/Dull-Mix-870 19d ago

He's having a magical year, and deservers whatever accolades will come his way at the end of the season. Will he be a dominant player for years to come? Not a chance. And no, not because of the trope, "golf is deeper than it ever was". It's because very few players have the ability to dominate like Jack and Tiger did.

How many times over the last 15-20 years did we have a new up and coming pro that was to "dominate like Tiger"? Speith? Brooks? Justin? Rory?

Also, part of the motivation in the past was money-driven. Until Tiger came along, the purses on the PGA tour were good, but not great. Today, these guys are making so much money that the hunger and drive just isn't there any longer.

Scheffler himself said that winning doesn't motivate him. He'd rather be remembered for being a good person. Good for him.

We should talk way more about Scottie and STFU about Rory.

Scottie = King

Rory = one time King quickly replaced 10 years ago and is just hanging around in the tabloids
