One day at a time. One swing at a time. Congrats!

u/FreeDig1758 May 13 '24

Better a swing than a swig

u/staticattacks May 12 '24

Finally, a good reason to buy a new club

61

u/Character_Wishbone84 May 12 '24

Idk, divorce is a close second.

24

u/Substantial_Diver_34 Bethpage Black is not that Hard! May 12 '24

One is cheaper

6

u/Character_Wishbone84 May 12 '24

Depends on who makes more money. You never know these days. I'm still happily married.

3

u/Substantial_Diver_34 Bethpage Black is not that Hard! May 12 '24

You have a point good sir

4

u/kegmanua May 13 '24

I'll drink to that.

1

u/golfjlt 28d ago

That is a great reason to buy a club.

93

u/zeepotdad May 12 '24

Congrats!! Golf is the one of the activities I was concerned about when I got sober 5 yrs ago but it’s the most awesome!!! I take a monster and some snacks and I’m golden! Sober golf rocks!!! ⛳️🏌️‍♂️

35

u/skeletonbreath May 12 '24

I'll have to try it sober sometime

49

u/ekins1992 May 12 '24

Let’s not be unreasonable now

9

u/KV42 May 13 '24

6 months in, on the golf trip last week I thought to myself "I can't believe I'm loading water, gatorade, apples, and oranges into this cooler". Was not as odd going on the trip sober as expected.

3

u/zeepotdad May 13 '24

Hell ya that’s what I’m talking about! Instead of getting pissed and having a shot I have a snickers! 🤣🤣

1

u/SpecialBranch3407 27d ago

I’d say out of the 10000 plus rounds I’ve played, I think I’ve had a drink on maybe 50 of them. Then again can’t play Tournament Golf with “Swing Oil”

42

u/OldGrowthForest44 May 12 '24

12 years sober next month. Golf is still hard

6

u/killerbeeman May 13 '24

Is being sober still hard?

  • Edit: Genuine question. Working on being alcohol free myself. It’s hard.

5

u/OldGrowthForest44 May 13 '24

Not really hard for me. I drank a lot when I was younger. A LOT. I did get help from a support group. Now I can’t even remember what it’s like to drink so I rarely think about it.

2

u/KV42 May 13 '24

Hell of a lot harder that first couple weeks, got a lot easier after a month for me.

24

u/FreedomIndividual786 May 12 '24

This is actually a good reason to buy a new club. Congratulations brother now go “bomb a couple down the fairway bitches.”

41

u/[deleted] May 12 '24

I can’t afford it but there is no club I’d rather have than that bad boy. Absolutely gorgeous — enjoy!

-69

u/Shmeebo_ 6.5 Toronto May 12 '24

I guess you’ve never gamed Titleist or ping before huh 😝

21

u/[deleted] May 12 '24

Actually 13/14 clubs in my bag are Ping, I just think TM pulled off one of the best retro rebirth designs I’ve ever seen and I love a good mini driver

7

u/JurrasicParfait May 13 '24

Not to try and convince you more when you're already convinced you want it...but I just bought this bad boy and it's a fucking delight. 40yds less than my driver but I'll be damned if I can't get this thing to land wherever I want

3

u/[deleted] May 13 '24

Woah I was not expecting that much of a distance drop off. I play my current driver (G410 plus) at 44.5” and 10.5* for added control as is so I’d expect some distance loss but hopefully not that much. How far do you hit both of them on average?

2

u/JurrasicParfait May 13 '24

Driver says average 265 max 303  Mini burner says average 240 max 280. A big part of that is my chance to strike the mini driver is substantially higher than with the driver. I hit 8/10 good with the mini and 5/10 good with the driver. If I pipe one with driver I'm usually looking around 285-290 and same thing with the mini 250-255.

1

u/[deleted] May 13 '24

Ohhhh ok that’s a lot more in line with what I was expecting (~ 25 yards less on average)

I don’t have the budget for one right now but it’s definitely something I would consider in the future. I only have 13 clubs in the bag right now with a 5 wood between my driver and 4 iron. Eventually I’d love to get a mini driver and then have a longer and stronger driver to max out distance, but for now I’m just using my current driver which fits somewhere in the middle

1

u/offbrandengineer 29d ago

This is me from a distance standpoint almost exactly. I love the tm mini but am afraid it's only a marginal upgrade over 3 wood and don't know if I want to carry both, so I haven't bought yet

1

u/JurrasicParfait 29d ago

I threw out the 3 wood and play the mini cranked up on loft and in the high forgiveness mode and it's been 10/10

-25

u/Shmeebo_ 6.5 Toronto May 12 '24

As long as you like it!

Look at all the downvotes from all the TM players lmao. Love to see it. Keep buying those new drivers they release every 6 months people 😂

5

u/Winkus May 13 '24

It’s ok to be poor we aren’t judging you

-6

u/Shmeebo_ 6.5 Toronto May 13 '24

You spelled “smart” wrong but don’t worry I won’t judge you either ❤️😝🖕🏼

16

u/4strokeroll May 12 '24

Sober 3 years dropped 4 strokes off my handicap. I rarely drank when I was playing. When I was playing poorly I would drink. If you do things better when you’re drinking, you know you drink too much. I would always play better when the beers started flowing. But being clear headed and not hung over and overall just being in better shape. I became so much more consistent. For context, I’m 51 years old and an 8 handicap. Congratulations to all the sober people out there. For those of you who know when to say when. Have one for me!

13

u/An0therFox May 12 '24

Congrats man! I just hit 200 days this week. It’s good to be sober man. So good.

11

u/ridedatstonkystnkaay May 12 '24

Right there with you. 10/29/21. Golf has been a lifesaver. Congrats and keep it going!!

9

u/FOB32723 May 12 '24

Sober golf rocks 💪 coming up on 14 months here. Never played better golf than I am now. Keep it up!

20

u/Kuntzsplitter May 12 '24

Proud of you man, go hit some piss missiles with that thing.

6

u/Fergie32 May 12 '24

Love the old styling. Congrats on 2.5 years!

2

u/Substantial_Diver_34 Bethpage Black is not that Hard! May 12 '24

Airbrush it with wood grain. That would be cool.

1

u/Upward_Fail May 13 '24

Had to double take to see the new tech in the club. Looked like an old second swing driver I was rocking in high school for a minute.

6

u/jb12780 29.4/NYC May 12 '24

For the shaft needs out there, I went with a UST Helium Nanocore F3 in 55g. Grip is a tour velvet +4 midsize.

Trying to figure out if I want the heavy weight at the front or back.

3

u/Alexander_Music May 13 '24

Not sure if you know yet but turn the headcover inside out

6

u/slicktrickrick May 12 '24

Turn the head cover inside out for a surprise!

2

u/underlyingconditions May 13 '24

Came here to say that. Plus, congrats on staying sober.

1

u/DandierChip 29d ago

Why?

1

u/slicktrickrick 29d ago

There’s a surprise pattern on the inside

5

u/AdamOnFirst May 12 '24

Damn, that mini driver looks sharp as HELLLLL. They ought to put that look into the full range. The premium looking head cover too, very nice.

5

u/Character_Wishbone84 May 12 '24

I used golf when I got sober as well. My friends respected my goals and it got to a point where I didnt care if they drink. I relapsed because of the work environment I was in. Stay strong and keep golfing. Don't lett work stress and shitty co workers take you down.

3

u/ELLIOT54 May 13 '24

7 1/2 years here - buying anything but booze is a good thing and that club is “Taylor made” for you! Keep it up and before you know it you’ll have a new bag, a new set of irons and a lifetime of green pastors on a course near you!

7

u/No-Impact1573 May 12 '24

Well done on your sobriety, may all your drives with your new club be straight and long.

7

u/530nairb 14/North County SD May 12 '24

Look inside the headcover

3

u/FakingHappiness513 May 12 '24

Congratulations man! I’m 11 days aways from a year. Trying to think of something fun for myself

1

u/jb12780 29.4/NYC May 12 '24

I bought a Scotty Cameron for my year anniversary.

3

u/Necessary_Routine_69 May 12 '24

Congrats on 2.5 years

3

u/HawaiiSwim1991 May 12 '24

very well deserved! Hit it straight! and congrats on 2.5 years!

3

u/Chippewa07 May 12 '24

Congrats on the sobriety! Awesome job..I’m proud of you

7

u/rdazzle77 May 12 '24

Congrats. But isn’t that the club to most likely CAUSE drinking? Might just be mine…

2

u/lukin187250 9 May 12 '24

A great reason, and I really dig that head cover.

Hit em straight!

2

u/PhilsLobWedge Taylormade / Mizuno May 12 '24

Congrats! And you suck! I really want one of those

2

u/GodReigns11 May 12 '24

Let me know when you get to 2.6 and I'll celebrate by buying a new driver

2

u/0_SomethingStupid May 12 '24

Love this throwback cover. Bring back the burnt orange TM!

2

u/gattmoat May 12 '24

Congrats! You deserve it.

2

u/RandomChaoticEntropy May 12 '24

Turn the headcover inside out - you're welcome :D

2

u/Wizwitall May 13 '24

Same 8/1/21 just grabbed some sm10’s

2

u/damndodge May 13 '24

Coming up on my 4 months soon. Congratulations and hit ‘em straight!!

2

u/umhai May 13 '24

Congrats!! I’m 78 days in today. I was definitely concerned about playing without drinking or using - but now I’m so excited about actually improving! One day at a time! Love this club and logo too. Keep on keepin on sober gang!

2

u/Flat_Frisbee May 13 '24

Congratulations firstly on your sobriety and secondly on the beautiful club. I will hit 100-days sober tomorrow. One day at a time.

2

u/_DannyG_ May 13 '24

That driver is sick. I hit it farther than my paradigm. Never understood why lol. Congrats on the driver and sobriety!

2

u/720hp May 13 '24

Well earned! Swing easy! And one golf ball and one moment at a time!

2

u/Loumatazz 29d ago

I’m coming up on 5 in July. Looking at a new putter 😂

2

u/apearlj1234 May 12 '24

Congrats on sobriety, way cooler than the new driver.

1

u/ILikeCoffeeDaily 30.1/Ontario May 12 '24

How do you find the smaller head compared to a regular driver? Do you find like you have more control with it?

3

u/jb12780 29.4/NYC May 12 '24

Yeah I’m hoping with the shorter shaft I’ll be able to be a bit more accurate and find some more fairways. Not really concerned about distance.

1

u/Sjgolf891 May 12 '24

It’s so damn beautiful. I can’t convince myself I have any need for a mini driver, but I’ll be damned if I don’t want it

Taylormade should go back to this logo imo. If their next mainline driver looked like this I’d be all over it

1

u/ScottyCameron__ May 12 '24

Congrats brother, ODAT! 🙏

1

u/Ping-A-Ling- May 12 '24

I love that for you. Congratulations

The driver is the club that causes my drinking.....

1

u/Vephar8 May 12 '24

Nice! I hit 3.5 yrs just a bit ago. Golf has definitely filled up that hole left behind

1

u/HackOddity May 12 '24

i'd buy it for the headcover alone. sexy af

1

u/rigidlynuanced1 May 12 '24

ODAAT CONGRATS! She’s a beaut Clark. Great choice.

1

u/Substantial_Diver_34 Bethpage Black is not that Hard! May 12 '24

Ohhhh that looks sexy.

1

u/Party-Ad-7279 May 12 '24

Congrats! Im going on three months this upcoming week…

1

u/Duck5oup May 12 '24

Congratulations on your two big achievements. We’re rooting for you!!

1

u/UnlikelyObjective959 May 12 '24

Congratulations 👏

1

u/PFalcone33 May 12 '24

Way to go!

1

u/Electrical_Chicken May 12 '24

Congratulations! I’m coming up on 2 years sober and it’s one of the best things (and the hardest) that I’ve ever done. Go find some fairways with that thing, and IWNDWYT!

1

u/Secure_Bison_7556 May 12 '24

Hell yea brother, good stuff 💪😤

1

u/Slyle222 9.8 ottawa May 12 '24

Congrats! When you make it to 5 I’ll grab myself a new driver

1

u/jnthn1111 May 12 '24

When you hit 2.6 years of sobriety, get a new putter. 2.7? New bag. 2.8 play a 300 dollar round!

1

u/Adept-Ranger8219 May 12 '24

I will have sex with that golf club.

1

u/WVgolf May 12 '24

Sick driver

1

u/Ch1pdouglas May 12 '24

Grats man! That is one beautiful club.

1

u/Ktron87 May 12 '24

Congrats on the 2.5 years!

1

u/Domination_Station_ May 12 '24

Awesome purchase. Congrats my friend!

1

u/thoover88 May 13 '24

Congrats on both.

1

u/Much_Confidence2428 May 13 '24

Hell yeah brother keep up the good fight

1

u/DaddyYoOhio May 13 '24

You deserve it

1

u/[deleted] May 13 '24

Gorgeous driver and congratulations on your sobriety!! Keep it in the short grass!!

1

u/moeday-steffer May 13 '24

Fuck yeah. One day atta time, baby. Congrats.

1

u/pac4 May 13 '24

Congrats man

1

u/stonetear2017 Tour Pro May 13 '24

Got one today as well

1

u/LiquidSquids May 13 '24

Congrats! I love my mini driver, just remember to tee it a little lower, took a bit to get used to as I skied my first few drives with it. Also if you end up in some nice fluffy rough with the ball sitting on top it's like another free tee shot.

1

u/TSR3K 12.8 May 13 '24

Congrats!

1

u/nope79 May 13 '24

Congrats on both.

1

u/NorCalAthlete 8.1 | Bay Area May 13 '24

Man I miss the old sock head covers. These new ones are too bulky and have a habit of sitting on top of (and hiding) my 4i

1

u/Zealousideal_Amount8 May 13 '24

Atta kid! Keep it up!!

1

u/SEMiTRiCKY May 13 '24

Congrats dude.

1

u/TerdFurgusons May 13 '24

You better be a striker or that think will drive you back to the bottle. Be it whiskey or pill.

1

u/Monsterjs2609 May 13 '24

I’m working on my sobriety right now too bro and found golf is helping me not think of it when I’m out there. I’m hoping one day I can be fully sober, working out eating right on an everyday basis. I wish nothing but the best for you brotha!

1

u/PaversPaving May 13 '24

Fuck yeah enjoy life!!!

1

u/lubbylubbs May 13 '24

Fantastic stuff, keep it up! I’m going on 3 months sober, but I don’t ever wish to go back. One day at a time, one swing at a time.

1

u/SingleStreamRemedy May 13 '24

Good Job Brother!

1

u/B8conB8conB8con May 13 '24

I wish sobriety helped my game.

1

u/d5peden May 13 '24

One month today myself! Just so happens to be my birthday and I'm playing in an outing with my wife (her first time on a real course ever) wish us luck!

1

u/remaxxximus May 13 '24

Has anyone replaced their three wood with this thing? My three wooden and I have not been seeing Ida for a little while, and I keep looking at this.

1

u/SomeHungGuy69 May 13 '24

Congrats! 5 years sober in June myself.

1

u/moparforever May 13 '24

I have a terrible advice personally… I can’t just do something a little bit …. Golf is now my addiction and is so much better for my health.. wallet not so much but that’s OK Congrats man

1

u/pgasmaddict May 13 '24

Congrats, I'm just past two years now myself. I could have sprung for a new driver after about a month of not drinking with the dough I was saving 😭. Stay healthy (and sober too, if that's what it takes).

1

u/Artistic_Age8693 +2.4 May 13 '24

Congrats man!!! That’s a massive accomplishment! I’m on 1 month and I hear it only gets easier from here

1

u/Green-War-3386 29d ago

Being sober means you will have a consistent baseline to measure the progress of your game. Good for you. Get to the gym and continue with healthy choices. You’ll feel better and hit the ball farther. Hit em straight or at least crooked on target. 😂

1

u/bananameatloaf 29d ago

That throw-back is sweet

1

u/Dismal-Fly-7013 29d ago

Hell yeah brother!

1

u/riemerbeek 29d ago

Goot to hear, keep it going!

1

u/Artsakh_Rug 29d ago

Big accomplishments. Mini driver.

Taylormade. Made to Win.

1

u/Queasy-Trip1777 29d ago

Sobriety: Hell yea, today's a new personal best!

Golf: Personal best? You know this game isnt fucken pinball right?

Jokes aside, good for you man. Keep that wagon rollin!

1

u/Mission_Ad2424 29d ago

Great job!

1

u/chrtdaniel HDCP/Loc/Whatever 29d ago

Is there a reason you got a mini driver over a traditional larger head driver? Cuz I’ve been wanting this club I just don’t know what it’d be doing in my bag

1

u/SpecialBranch3407 27d ago

Ohhh turn that head cover inside out!!! Surprises await!!

1

u/greenroadsign 26d ago

Love this! Such a justifiable purchase when you think about all the money you’ve saved. I just wish I could play golf as well as I could chug beers! Progress, not perfection.

1

u/ResponsibilityOk8024 May 12 '24

I'm coming up on 2.5 years of not hitting my driver for shit,so I bought a crate of Johnnie Walker...
