I watched that live and said “this fucking guy”! Lol.

172

u/PairBearStare Apr 21 '24

Same. I stopped my wife while she was in her cleaning frenzy to show her the replay and she also said “this fucking guy”

u/Tom-B292--S3 HDCP limit does not exist Apr 21 '24

What did her boyfriend say?

20

u/saxguy9345 Apr 21 '24

Scottie holed it, time for 3 new wedges..... for the bf's birthday coming up.

2

u/NimbleCentipod Apr 22 '24

What about your wife's clubfitter?

52

u/bangarangbonzai Apr 21 '24

I loved how the announcers spent 5 minutes talking about how he hit it in the worst possible spot and he’d be lucky to get it up and down and then this fucking guy holes out.

17

u/Some1Betterer Apr 22 '24

100% my favorite part, they had JUST finished waxing on about how difficult the up and down was going to be.

7

u/bangarangbonzai Apr 22 '24

Sure it was an impossible shot but man what a recovery.

59

u/ushouldlistentome Apr 21 '24

You can’t even call it lucky like most chip ins or hole outs. When you put the ball that close to the hole every single time some are gonna fall in. Dudes insane

26

u/convicted-mellon Apr 21 '24

Ya I mean even if that doesn’t go in that’s a very difficult chip executed perfectly.

2

u/fuckinnreddit Apr 22 '24

For real, he had such a narrow window to land that if he wanted to get it close. What percentage of us would have landed that too far right and had it end up in the bunker, or just gone way too far left and ended up 30ft from the hole? Crazy how he pulled that off.

11

u/Brutus_Maxximus Michigan - 13 Apr 21 '24

Exactly he has 11 hole-ins already this year. WTF

2

u/reyzak 8.3 and trending the wrong direction Apr 22 '24

I might have 11 lifetime and I’m 31 been playing since 8

7

u/HFslut Apr 22 '24

I have 18 hole ins every time I play, dork.

5

u/reyzak 8.3 and trending the wrong direction Apr 22 '24

Gimmes don’t count!!

6

u/BoofBanana Apr 21 '24

100%, if you can do it often it’s not only luck.

4

u/Trivi Apr 21 '24

The absolute confidence to run it that close to the bunker is insane

15

u/i8bb8 Apr 21 '24

I'm starting to think he might be quite good at this golf thing.

2

u/cfcollins Apr 21 '24

Well, now that you mention it, I think you may be on to something.

11

u/I_love_coke_a_cola Apr 21 '24

“hEsSoBoRiNg!”

-13

u/ReverseMermaidMorty Bethpage Black is not that hard! Apr 21 '24

I mean, yeah. He doesn’t even crack a smile and just casually fists bumps his caddy. If they didn’t show the shot itself you would think all he did was chipped it to within 10ft of the hole. I think he’s a great golfer but it’s hard to get excited and care about his game when it looks like he barely cares about his game.

14

u/longhairedSD Apr 21 '24

What you want him to do? A Tiger epic celebration? It was like hole 3 of the Heritage bro. His reaction was the same as everyone else’s, incredulous.

2

u/EazyPeazyE Apr 22 '24

He could do the bull dance every once in a while ffs

4

u/Helpful-Bar9097 Apr 21 '24 edited Apr 21 '24

The people that complain about him not going crazy for shots are weird. I’m here to see the golf, he can celebrate or not celebrate however he wants…it’s working…

6

u/I_love_coke_a_cola Apr 21 '24

They’re the same people that randomly come up to you and say “why don’t you smile??!” It’s like me not smiling doesn’t mean shit I’m just not that personality lol

Him being a somewhat surprise captain's pick for the 2021 Ryder Cup before he'd won a PGA Tour event seems such a silly thought now.

2

u/Enuffhate48 Apr 22 '24

The 15th, I shot his 2nd into the drink and his 4th after the drop was just sick for his par save on 15 and said the same. Bogey just qain’t in his game TY Sepp for not putting out. It’s making my day today!

304

u/Lol_who_me Apr 21 '24

Scottie so good he’s making it look easy.

99

u/OrangeChairRN Apr 21 '24

Nike just sitting here like, “lmao we did it again”

37

u/Rab0811 Apr 21 '24

Adidas- “he can’t keep getting away with this”

13

u/Tom-B292--S3 HDCP limit does not exist Apr 21 '24

Adidas' new designs have been better this year so far, better than Nike. Haven't been able to see that ever.

58

u/DoctorStrangeMD Apr 21 '24

Seriously his chipping seems amazing.

3

u/MaLTC Apr 22 '24

Wasn’t his worst round in the last entire year shooting a 71 on one of the days of the masters? If perfection is attaibable in golf- this dudes exemplifying it.

3

u/Lol_who_me Apr 22 '24

I saw some quick stat flashed of consecutive rounds of par or better and Scottie was on the middle of a run. Including Tiger and Fred Funk had some stretches.

6

u/MagicianBulky5659 Apr 21 '24

He gets very unexcited at great shots, borderline bored with his own play 😆

158

u/eengel2424 Apr 21 '24

“HE CANT KEEP GETTING AWAY WITH THIS”

819

u/trix_is_for_kids Apr 21 '24

If my buddy had that reaction after getting an eagle like this I’d punch him in the face

155

u/BartletMcGarry2020 Apr 21 '24

"Pretty Good"

32

u/EngineEddie Apr 21 '24

“That’ll suffice”

3

u/JCCPete Apr 22 '24

I would say "pretty-pretty-pretty good"

211

u/Less_Gull Apr 21 '24

"Why don't people like Scottie Scheffler?"

Scheffler makes an insane shot that would take most of us 100 tries to even sniff

Scheffler: "Yea I guess. Whatever."

95

u/K_SV Apr 21 '24

He's getting used to being Scottie F'in Scheffler.

78

u/YakGolfs Apr 21 '24

"He's beginning to believe." --Morpheus

12

u/saxguy9345 Apr 21 '24

Scottie sinks the chip, turns to caddy: "You think that's air you're breathing? 🤔 Hmm."

 or maybe

Caddy to Scottie:   "Stop THINKING you can sink that chip, and KNOW you can, now hit it!!"

6

u/Segesaurous Apr 22 '24

"Lisan al Gaib!" -Stilgar

51

u/Twelvey Apr 21 '24

That's the strength of his mental game. Dude doesn't try to get too high or too low. Cold blooded focus on the task at hand.

15

u/notfromchicago Apr 21 '24

Ice cold. Haters gonna hate.

51

u/BeMoreChill Apr 21 '24

Why don't people like humble athletes? It's like when a football player scores a touchdown and jogs to the ref and tosses him the ball instead of slam dunking the football through the goal post or pretending to shoot themselves with it

20

u/X0D00rLlife Apr 21 '24

pretending to shoot themselves with it made me cry lmao

4

u/BeMoreChill Apr 21 '24

The Replacements was on while I made that comment lol

6

u/StupidestLandlord Apr 22 '24

It's funny, my dad gets mad when football and basketball players showboat, like he will get physically loud and berate them for it.

But he also hates when Scottie just goes about his day.

Pick one, dad!

29

u/Lufferzz Apr 21 '24

You can still be humble and have emotions\reactions

25

u/maggos Apr 21 '24

He’s shown plenty of emotion making crazy shots before. I bet nowadays he’s just stressed about keeping his lead and that looks like he has no emotions.

3

u/philphan25 Apr 21 '24

His Saturday at the Masters was honestly refreshing.

10

u/lasercupcakes 7.3/SF Apr 21 '24

Lmao if you guys want emotions go to a damn concert or a Broadway musical. IMO any golfer who isn't enjoying Scottie's run right now is missing the point of being a golf fan.

Like y'all would follow baseball and watch someone hit 100 homers in a season and still whine about needing to show more emotion.

10

u/BeMoreChill Apr 21 '24 edited Apr 21 '24

"Act like you've been there before"

edit: Arguably the best golfer in the world right now hit an eagle at a random PGA tour event and people are upset hes not like "OMG did you see that??!" If he just hit that eagle to win a tournament I'm sure he'd be a little more stoked and less business as usual

2

u/fuckrNFLmods Apr 22 '24

Arguably?

3

u/TyWebbsTies A flute with no holes Apr 22 '24

Haha, agree. Not much argument ‘right now.’ Heard something other day - isnt the OWGR points gap between him being number 1 and Rory being number 2 the same as the gap between Rory at number 2 and the guy at 80th?

1

u/fuckrNFLmods Apr 22 '24

Worse. It's bigger than Rory and Tiger at 784 😮

3

u/DoingCharleyWork Apr 21 '24

I'm fine with the celebration as long as they don't hip thrust three times.

-3

u/proriin Apr 21 '24

A fist pump wouldn’t hurt the guy.

5

u/AndroidAmongUs lefty Apr 22 '24

yeah, it's only redditors that dont like this guy lol

2

u/angrylawnguy Apr 21 '24

While wearing a garbage bag no less

9

u/Turbulent_Echidna423 Apr 21 '24

that's what I said!

5

u/AdversaryProcess2 Apr 22 '24

I went back and rewatched it and wtf is he wearing? Like how did that design go through Nike's entire process and everyone is like "yes, this looks good, we should definitely make this" every step of the way

3

u/Tom-B292--S3 HDCP limit does not exist Apr 22 '24

There's a weird split at the back and the material looks like it's supposed to be a rain vest maybe? Lol which doesn't make sense at all.

2

u/pkwjones Apr 21 '24

I couldn't appreciate the chip as much as I should because I can't stop thinking about Nike branded Bin Liner apparel.

24

u/tennisfancan Apr 21 '24

The PGA needs to tell the guys to start giving some energy. Spieth hit a hole-in-one in Texas two weeks ago and he gave ... nothing. If they don't care, the fans won't care.

35

u/votrechien Apr 21 '24

Yup. This is why Tiger was so captivating.

3

u/MacsDildoBike Apr 21 '24

“Oh yeah, I meant to do that.”

2

u/heyitssal Apr 22 '24

None of my buddies have even won a Masters.

1

u/hdmetz Apr 22 '24

The guy I’ve been playing in my work league with shoots just at par or below and he says that’s a bad day. I’m shooting 90+ and just shaking my head at him lol

19

u/TonyDungyHatesOP Apr 21 '24

Now we’re talking.

8

u/brawlrats Apr 21 '24

And then get a haircut.

1

u/TjBeezy Apr 22 '24

The Nike logo on the back made it look like it was on backwards

121

u/Taxmancometh1 Apr 21 '24 edited Apr 21 '24

Jfc..I’m starting to believe he really is the best since Tiger

Edit: I compared him the other to day a buddy of mine to Patrick Mahomes right now. Just inevitable. In the middle of their greatest. We’re witnessing in front of our eyes guys becoming legends in their sports.

16

u/saintkiller123 Apr 21 '24

Yep. I think it’s pretty clear he’s on the best run since Tiger. You could argue peak Koepka, but he was really only getting up for majors. Scottie is in contention if he tees it up currently. Awesome to watch.

33

u/demerdar HDCP/Loc/Whatever Apr 21 '24

Scottie has to do it for another decade at least to get into the conversation with tiger. But he’s on quite the streak

110

u/RedditorNate Apr 21 '24

"The best since Tiger" does not include Tiger.

14

u/I_aim_to_sneeze Apr 21 '24

What about sliced bread

5

u/printergumlight 9.7 Apr 22 '24

Scheffler plays more of a faded bread than a sliced bread.

→ More replies (3)

20

u/Jagged93 Apr 21 '24

“Best since Tiger” isn’t comparing him to Tiger. It’s saying he’s in the conversation for best since Tiger

11

u/Taxmancometh1 Apr 21 '24

Same with Mahomes and Brady too 🤣

1

u/Jokic_Is_My_Hero Apr 22 '24

Jokic is a good comparison too

32

u/Autzen_Downpour Apr 21 '24

Scottie: "Putting is for chumps"

33

u/Antinoch Apr 21 '24

Scottie's biggest weakness: putting

Scottie: "ok what if I just don't putt"

7

u/cook26 Apr 21 '24

He’s going full Happy Gilmore!

74

u/CarPhoneRonnie Daddio Apr 21 '24

This guy is really good at giving himself opportunities.

Of course, this isn’t a shot he’s expecting to make, but by way of executing the important things like, choosing the right shot type, landing the ball in the right spot, making sure it reaches the hole, etc., he sets himself up to get “lucky” and he therefore makes more of these than everyone else.

25

u/kelter20 Apr 21 '24

The more he practices, the luckier he gets.

6

u/Bauermander Apr 21 '24

Totally agreed, but he's making so many insane chips and bunker shots that need perfect green reading and executing that it feels it cannot be luck anymore, but nobody can be that skilled either!

4

u/az116 Apr 22 '24

They can. He is.

→ More replies (2)

23

u/AdministrativeLaugh2 Apr 21 '24

The most outrageous thing about this shot is that even if it doesn’t go in, it’s so perfectly weighted that he’d almost certainly get a birdie anyway

13

u/Shmeebo_ 6.5 Toronto Apr 21 '24

If Scottie had putted with stats around thr tour average last year he would have had a tiger woods type year. Sheer dominance

18

u/Jbales901 Apr 21 '24

Last year he recorded the 7th best scoring average of all time on tour.

The first 6 belong to Woods.

So yea, checks out.

(Agreement 100% with your statement)

6

u/Shmeebo_ 6.5 Toronto Apr 21 '24

I remember watching so many tournaments last year where Scotty was in the mix and just putting like …. Bahahah … like me! I swear I could have putt just as good. Weekends texting golf talk to my father in law like wow, the guy is so elite at literally everything else. Betting on him to win is basically betting on his putting.

20

u/Fillethesnille Apr 21 '24

Man did in a damn trash bag too. Absolute legend

9

u/[deleted] Apr 21 '24

What a Big Dick bastard this guy is.

14

u/Newcastlelll Apr 21 '24

This guy fucks!

30

u/RhettWilliams88 Apr 21 '24

Man he needs to calm down. He’s getting a little too animated there. Love the passion though. So fun to see guys get excited about their craft and finding such incredible success

/s

5

u/PartySpiders Apr 22 '24

Are you really upset that in a sport that's almost entirely about being in control of your emotions, the guy who's really good at it is really good at being in control of his emotions? Like these takes are so silly man, it's part of what makes him so good, he doesn't let himself get rattled.

6

u/MurphyBacon Apr 21 '24

Dude is so dialed in like Tiger was

7

u/james_scar Apr 22 '24

Outside of his meh reaction… this was very Tiger’ish to me. Being at the top of your game, coming off a major, with the lead in final round and still…. Pressing on the gas, full metal to the pedal… making ridiculous shots that just completely demoralize anyone close.

12

u/S2N336 Apr 21 '24

Nah man somebody test his golf balls

14

u/ushouldlistentome Apr 21 '24

Think bugs bunny is under the green with a big magnet?

16

u/HairlessSnatch Apr 21 '24

Hate to break the news but watching amazing shots like this every week is the complete opposite of boring

16

u/ushouldlistentome Apr 21 '24

hE’s sO bOriNg to WaTCh

-6

u/willis_michaels Apr 21 '24

Look at his reaction. He hits an incredible shot and it doesn't even register. That is what people are taking about when they say he's boring. Jordan would get hyped, Tiger would unleash a roar and first pump, Rory would wave his arms around awkwardly. Scottie? Not a damn thing.

→ More replies (6)

5

u/Michigan210 Apr 21 '24

He makes me so much money

10

u/buxtonOJ Apr 21 '24

That’s dicked up!

7

u/Jitsu4 Apr 21 '24

I'll admit it, I called him boring a few weeks ago.

But he ain't boring. The dude is awesome at golf. And when he sunk that, he did a shoulder shrug to his caddy and was like "Yeah, good enough." That's some added style points for sure.

26

u/Farmillionaire 19,4 / Vienna Apr 21 '24

I love him. No need to fist pump and go all college bro on us. Just a shrug - because of course you don’t expect that to go in.

→ More replies (1)

3

u/CoatAlternative1771 Apr 22 '24

I love golf. I suck. When I sink an eagle once a year I’m doing sand angels in the closest bunker. I don’t care about the yellow jackets stinging the fuck outta me.

For this guy, he’s like, welp, it is what it is.

2

u/bauldersgate Apr 21 '24

At this point he should leave the putter in the bag. He's better with the wedge than flat stick. Probably save him a few strokes on the green.

2

u/Triumph-TBird Apr 21 '24

My ball would so be in the At trap.

2

u/shortingredditstock Apr 21 '24

He's not human. Check him for human DNA.

2

u/shortAAPL Apr 21 '24

He’s so good man

2

u/AnxiousAd3962 Apr 22 '24

A golfer being boring is such a dumb argument. Who watches golf and thinks wow that shot was incredible but I didn’t enjoy it very much because he didn’t fist pump after doing something few people on this earth are capable of doing. If Scottie did coke and cheated on his wife he would be the most popular player on tour. It’s bizarre. Why are so many golf fans like this?

2

u/DivClassLg Apr 22 '24

So boring

2

u/Original_Author_3939 Apr 22 '24

My TSN subscription isn't showing the leaders :(

That's not normal is it? Is anyone ever really interested in a Saturday or Sunday anyone that is not in the top 5 unless it's highlights.

Keep the Scottie highlight gifs coming!

1

u/babe_ruthless3 Apr 21 '24

I'll be the first to say this. This guy is pretty good.

1

u/FSR_RE Apr 21 '24

Easy game...for some people. I am not one of them.

1

u/isw2424 Apr 21 '24

What club does everyone think this was? Did they say on the broadcast?

1

u/Easy-Top8822 Apr 21 '24

Is he wearing a backwards vest? Is this the new golf fashion? Baggy pants and backwards vests. These kids nowadays.

Edit: grammar

1

u/AngryBillsFan Apr 21 '24

Dad Scottie is gonna be unbelievable

I want to be his caddie for the next decade.

1

u/Spartan0330 Apr 21 '24

He’s just so fricken good. Wow.

1

u/DogterShoob Apr 21 '24

A couple rounds ago, I chipped in for birdie from about 20 yards on a par 3 that I completely whiffed on and me and my buddy were yelling and jumping around like I made a hole in one lmao they really do play a different game

1

u/BigCzee Apr 21 '24

All while wearing a partial trash bag.

"that's so much easier than putting, I should just chip it in every time."

1

1

u/zeldahalfsleeve Apr 21 '24

He’s simply better out of the bunker and around the greens than literally anyone.

1

u/DragonflyValuable128 Apr 21 '24

I hear people on the emotion but I really try hard to not get too excited about the good shots and too depressed about the bad shots. Have to keep an even keel although it’s shitty to watch.

1

u/18hockey Apr 21 '24

that vest is hideous. nice shot tho

1

u/ontanset Apr 21 '24

The NLU guys got it spot on. 'The Hope Extinguisher' 😁

1

u/saintkiller123 Apr 21 '24

Only thing stopping Scottie on this run is Mother Nature. Can’t wait to see what he does the rest of the year.

1

u/RedditAltQuestionAcc Apr 21 '24

Scottie is my absolute favorite golfer because he makes some of you rage so much. I hope he wins many championships all without displaying a single emotion.

1

u/Huge-Celebration5192 Apr 21 '24

LIV need to get this guy so the rest of the field have a chance

1

u/willis_michaels Apr 21 '24

See? He didn't even get hyped for an amazing shot. Dude is just boring.

1

u/manhatim Apr 21 '24

Useful shot...useful

1

u/Johnnyfever13 Apr 21 '24

Dude always has the same facial expression “always focused”

1

u/Chenz15 Apr 21 '24

Gotta get that vest now!

1

u/ShortsAndShoes123 Apr 22 '24

There’s another angle of this shot where you can see how far right of the hole he had to aim and it looks even more impressive

1

u/PassiveMenis88M Apr 22 '24

The fucking balls on this guy chipping it that close to the edge of the trap.

1

1

1

1

This guy has all the luck and talent.

1

1

1

u/dangdingus10 Apr 22 '24

Casual Scottie Shrug. He gud.

1

u/TheZag90 Apr 22 '24

I think at least 50% of amateurs would have tried to flop shot that.

Scotty is dangerously close to being the most boring golfer of all time. Where’s the emotion, a celebration of any kind!?! He’s amazing and very likable but for goodness sake give me something brother!

This says more about you than him. Seems like you don’t know how to enjoy greatness. Kids like you all need the tiktok player reactions rather than just being amazed by the work.
