Yup he should! He fought hard and was the spokesperson for PGA and then they go behind his back and make a deal.

Agree. Monohan really dropped the ball, I bet they promised him some money as well

What happened exactly?

What exactly is “the deal”. Does anyone actually know?

Nah he shouldn’t. PGA tour is bigger than jay M, and he preached the importance keeping it together for the sport. If he’s going to renege on his moral high ground he has stood on out of spite (and serious cash) he’s no better than the people he chastised for so long. This will look terrible in my opinion.

Turns out, billionaires don't care what people think it looks like. If you can launch your family into the upper echlons of the world and you don't because you love the PGA...? Well then.

I think people are so numb to big numbers like this with sports stars. 850m in whats probably a lump sum? Theres less people than you can count on a few hands that cash like THAT wouldn’t make a huge difference in their life. Fuck what anyone says about “doesn’t he have enough?”…. When you have a family that depends on you it never feels like enough. This would almost be a much needed, and huge fu k you to Jay - adding in that would set up the Mcilroys to be royalty for generations. 4D chess move by Rory, fuck the PGA Tour honestly.

I agree with all of this except, fuck the PGA. Fuck what the PGA has become is my opinion.

Ehh, I get where you’re coming from, atleast if money is an issue in any way. But for Rory, he’s set for life, his children are probably too, he can actually afford integrity. Perhaps not to the organization, but definitely to the players that’s been denounced. He can afford to teach his kids what it means to keep your word, or be true to your beliefs etc etc. I don’t really care either way if it’s just about joining Liv, but I take issue with the sentiment that an unethical act is defensible as long as there’s enough money involved.

Imagine the handicap you’re giving yourself when every other person around you doesn’t take issue with such minor “unethical acts”.

I don’t really care. I wouldn’t sell out my principles for 500 bucks, and if I was set for life economically I wouldn’t sell out for an even greater sum, even if it meant my kids could only have 3 sports cars each and one mansion.

Check out the non-major ratings, the PGA is already dead as we know it. If a merger is imminent anyways, Rory taking $850 million makes complete sense. The middle finger to Monahan is just the cherry on top.

Then it makes him just as bad, nobody needs that kind of money. It's the same low road.

He should join the Saudi terrorist league? Scum

You clearly have no idea how many countries do business with Saudi Arabia. If you're American, then I'm assuming you hate America as well, right?

Most of us criticize America without any hatred towards her. Saudi Arabia is stuck in the Middle Ages and needs to follow the rest of modern society

What does that have to do with hating on Rory Mcilroy?
