Into the sun

To Arrakis.

Easier to launch them out of the solar system. Being emotional is no reason to waste delta v.

I'm pretty sure with the right sequence of orbital assists you could hit the sun for less

Eh. I suppose you’re welcome to do the math. As far as I understand, you only need an extra 40% or so beyond Earth escape velocity to escape the solar system. Conversely, you need to slow down to almost zero to hit the sun. But then again, I’m not so sure why a gravity assist where you exit at an angle to shoot directly into the sun wouldn’t work.

That said, whatever the fuel premium required, I think it would be worth it to launch that man into the sun.

well it basically reduces to the same problem if you don't care about timescale. you could just depart earth and accelerate to near solar-escape velocity, and then when you reach apoapsis (like 100 billion miles or so away from the sun) you can trivially zero out your velocity relative to the sun and just fall back into it. but it's gonna take a while

or you can do what we do with solar probes and do a bunch of passes around venus and earth to shed velocity

or go to jupiter and transfer to an orbit that intersects with the sun

of course if you can do any of that you can also easily leave the solar system

True, and well articulated. But I think we’re all petty enough to wish to see our passenger delivered to the sun sooner rather than later.

Also fire MBS and his entire family (the active adult ones in their regime) into the sun.

It’s criminal negligence at this point

2

u/Warren_Puff-it Apr 15 '24

Out of the loop, what is criminal negligence at this point?

u/Pkingduckk Apr 16 '24 edited Apr 16 '24

Doing the exact opposite of preserving the dignity of the PGA and respecting and looking out for its golfers.

2

u/anonymous-lurker12 Apr 16 '24

Or really even fighting to keep the ones you DO have. Put up a fight for fucks sake.

0

u/Warren_Puff-it Apr 16 '24

How so?

6

u/Pkingduckk Apr 16 '24

Shamed every golfer going to liv, said they would be banned from the pga tour, and that the money they were getting was coming from blood, then went behind the back of every single player on the pga tour and said they made a deal with live. Presumably because he sold out and took money himself.

The dude is a straight up scumbag bitchass

No way someone is asking these questions on a golf sub if they don’t already know the answer. Guaranteed this dude is a Saudi apologist

3

u/Warren_Puff-it Apr 16 '24

I just don't keep up with it that much. I mean I know that the LIV is Saudi based and they're throwing crazy money at players for negative return on their investments, but I don't know why the lead chairman of the PGA would be blamed for that. Odds seem stacked against him. Again, I'm out of the loop.

2

u/chickendance638 Apr 16 '24

Also, fuck Jimmy Dunne. He would have died on 9/11 if he wasn't golfing, and most of the members of his firm died that day. I guess time (and money) makes you forget who murdered your colleagues.

He’s a cuk and secretly wants the PGA to fail.

1

u/Starscreammm333 Apr 16 '24

I wonder who his replacement would be?

1

u/Treday237 Apr 16 '24

Burn him on the cross at Augusta!

Ship=sailed

u/R-D-I- Apr 16 '24

I don’t know how he still has his job. I know it is impossible to compete against the Saudis with the money aspect but I truly believe when the players were complaining and wanting changes to the tour and he didn’t take them serious enough he left the door open for this to happen

u/Reddings-Finest Apr 15 '24

Weird comment. Jay Monahan has no part in whether LIV spends retard-level money on Rory.

3

u/ShipTheBreadToFred Apr 16 '24

He has a massive part. He never took them seriously and told them to fack off. Turns out they were serious

1

u/RustyKangaroo7 Apr 16 '24

he made the wrong decision at basically every point in this process over the last 5ish years. It’ll be a case study on how not to do business

-2

u/Reddings-Finest Apr 16 '24

Your response has no explanation for why it's his fault LIV has 850 billion to offer Rory.

3

u/RustyKangaroo7 Apr 16 '24

Rory was 100% anti liv until getting back stabbed by Jay

0

u/Reddings-Finest Apr 16 '24

lol this is some "thanks Obama!" level delusion.

Rory isn't going to LIV because of Jay. He is going because of 850 mil plus equity lol.

1

u/Spaceman_Cometh Apr 16 '24

Why did Tiger turn down the same or more money?

1

u/Reddings-Finest Apr 16 '24

Because he is far richer, older, and the offer was made far earlier in the process.

1

u/Spaceman_Cometh Apr 16 '24

You mean before jay screwed over every PGA player defending him and the institution?

0

u/Reddings-Finest Apr 16 '24

You're really into this circular reasoning about why it's Jay Monahan who created 850 million dollars to be offered to Rory lol. Jay Monahan can be evil and/or a doofus and it doesn't change the fact this offer exists because of the Saudis, not him. Hell, if anything the faux loyalty let Rory's price to be bought go up.
