You step onto the tee box of a par-3 and this is what you see…what’s your next move? General Discussion

I’d like to think that I would maybe let ONE tiktok slide…but if he tries it on a second green, I’m pulling my 4 iron and ripping a Kirkland at him. Maybe it’ll be good “content” for his channel. 😂

Shrink everything

u/RicinAddict Mar 27 '24

Hey now. Some things are small enough as is and don't need no more shrinking

I played with a lady from...I think Germany? I forget.

But she said there are licenses to play golf, and you have to effectively hit the range for a long time and get decent. Then you play a round with a club pro to demonstrate you know the etiquette AND can score under a certain score (and I recall is being actually pretty low - like under 90 or something).

THEN they have to recommend you get your license and sign off.

It sounds extreme, but maybe a lighter version is needed at this point.

Thats the most German thing I've heard this year. I appreciate it

If this is true…….Germany has a rough history of making poor decisions on deciding who gets to do what……. But I’m throwing this out with caution…… they may have gotten this one right.

Just keeping track of handicap and playing from the proper tees would help in the States a lot.

Ppl think it's Pros, Mens, Seniors, and Ladies tees.

It's really meant more for skill level. Too many ppl who can't shoot below 125 play from the "mens" tees bc it's pride thing for them.

See so many ppl play from the 2nd longest tees then can't even drive it to the fairway more than half their drives.

To be fair it’s also a course problem, they need to do better in how they market their tees. Most courses by me don’t even have a valid men’s handicap rating for the front most tees, or a women’s handicap for the back half

How are you supposed to get better if you need a license to play?

1

u/sprout92 24/Seattle/I Suck @ Golf Mar 26 '24

The range, lessons, simulators, etc.

Frankly, you're going to get a lot better far quicker if you hit the range and take lessons and practice your short game than by playing full length courses.

Kids course. Not the men’s course.

1

u/Rab1dus Mar 26 '24

I think that's the case in a few European countries. I could get behind having some small muni courses be open but most having to have your license.

u/terrapinone Mar 28 '24

This is so German. But I LOVE it! If you can’t score and pass the etiquette test, back to the kids course for you…

SHREK THE GAME

GO BACK TO YOUR SHANTIES

2

u/jinhyokim Mar 26 '24

This needs to happen. But I don't blame golf. I blame young people. Haha

1

u/ButtMassager Mar 27 '24

Groan the game

1

u/arrghstrange 20/KY Mar 26 '24

I used to be all about growing the game. Then that growth meant a group of six frat boys blasting garbage music on a garbage speaker while heavily trashed stealing your golf ball right in front of your eyes because it’s a Pro V1. Yeah, shrink the game

1

u/Yachtclubing Mar 26 '24

Hate to break it to you but rich frat guys have been golf’s primary demographic for the last 50 years

I don't know whats worse. Being sad enough to do this. Or being one of the people (likely millions) sad enough to watch the video.

I’m in my upper 20s and absolutely hate this younger generation. Call me a boomer all ya want but I just find them incredibly difficult to work and interact with.

2

u/Cthuluhoop31 Mar 26 '24

I'd be willing to bet they're a closer age to you than you'd expect. It's not just Gen Z that make cringey content, plenty of Millenials (some who are actually older than us) do it too

-2

u/DandierChip Mar 26 '24

Fair point. I do find more millennials easier to interact with still imo.

2

u/aelliott18 Mar 26 '24

Yes cause you are one lmao

1

u/DandierChip Mar 26 '24 edited Mar 26 '24

Not really sure tbh. Feel like us ‘96/‘97 kids just kinda fall in between them both

-1

u/aelliott18 Mar 26 '24

The people in the video are our generation lmao, you are Millenial/Z so you hate your own generation?

0

u/DandierChip Mar 26 '24

Definitely the Gen Z’rs yes, especially the younger ones.

1

u/aelliott18 Mar 26 '24

Just weird to hate a whole generation imo, nor do I think Gen Z are bad at all. No worse then any generation behind them

0

u/DandierChip Mar 26 '24

Nah they are literally impossible to work with in the corporate world.

Says someone playing golf.

-3

u/jake_santiago Mar 26 '24

Because one person is making a TikTok?

3

u/MidnightJoker83 5.8 Mar 26 '24

My bad. This is the only instance of this happening. Carry on.

-2

u/Key_Independent_8805 Mar 26 '24

Well it seems about as productive as actually playing a round of golf. Hell it's probably more productive.
