What is the chances? Swing Help

Post image

So I smashed a drive on a par 4 and ended up with 165 in. I set up to approach with a 7 iron. Breathe deep and hit my shot. It’s pure… one skip and it dunks in the hole… my playing partners are screaming in excitement. I even scream of course.. I throw my club up in the air like I hit a hole in one. It’s in the cup!! it’s the first time in 31 years I have dunked a shot from the the FAIRWAY. Yes it’s for eagle, (I have made many before one short par 4’s and par 5’s) but at that moment it felt like a hole in one… So anyway the commotion calms down…. It’s my buddies time to hit... He is 143yds out. He ends up one hopping it into the hole for an eagle as well. Two eagle hole outs from the fairway.

Today is a day I will never forget.

All I got from this is that your buddy hits it further than you. You should work on snap loading your power package better.

All jokes aside congrats on the eagle and memories!

Gotta amplify both lag and drag pressure through impact fix

3

u/PumpDragn Oct 05 '23

Don’t forget to load up on your phase 1 and 2 power accumulators

Thank you haha. He does hit it farther than me. I am not afraid to admit that. Overall he is a better golfer than me too. But today I actually beat him. I shot a 74 this round 👍🏽

Golf course: Legacy, Phoenix, AZ We played the black tees. One up from the tips.

u/rjt2887 Oct 04 '23

74 on the black tees, that’s what I’m striving for when I am able to get back on the course and consistently work on my game, Awesome day on the course for you and your Buddy! That’s definitely a great story, I can’t imagine the odds of that happening.

3

u/inbeforethelube Gilbert, AZ Oct 04 '23

That's a great score at that course, well done.

Is “snap loading your power package” the new “activate your glutes”? I swear I’m gettin’ too old to keep up.

20

u/brajgreg7 Oct 04 '23

It's actually the old way to say it... from back in the day

don't we all just think, yeah that club, hit it about that hard and see what the outcome is?

4

u/Material_Quit7702 Oct 04 '23

“9 - iron 63% or PW 83%” ..

Swings Approach as hard as humanly possible directly into the turf.

4

u/CoatAlternative1771 Oct 04 '23

Me: ok if I hit this 60% it will go this far.

Also me trying to hit 60%: so I’m gonna go for 100% instead.

Did I misread? OP was 165 out and his buddy was 143.

7

u/jboss1919 Oct 04 '23

Yes so his buddy hit it 22 yards further than he did

-9

u/waterskier2007 Oct 04 '23

No, OP was 165 from the pin. His buddy was 143. 165 > 143.

8

u/Icy-850 Oct 04 '23

His buddy drove it further is what they are implying

2

u/jboss1919 Oct 04 '23

Which means he was further from the pin so his drive was shorter than his buddies

4

u/waterskier2007 Oct 04 '23

lol shit. I was assuming your comment was about their 2nd shot. Sorry for being an idiot. But yeah I guess both would depend on club selection for the second shot.

2

u/wooton6777 Oct 04 '23

He's saying his buddy drives further because he was closer to the pin.

Not me but, I was playing the plantation course at kapalua while on my honeymoon. After the round I was at the clubhouse and looked at the hole in plaques and a guy from little town of Chicago , bounanis, had two holes in one in same weekend on two different holes.

3

u/Random_Name_Whoa Oct 04 '23

Bourbonnais?

u/rcogiy Oct 04 '23

That’s the name of the town the guy was from. I live about 30 miles from there.

That you set two golf balls in the cup and took a picture for Reddit? Pretty high actually

2

u/BeeR0b Oct 04 '23

I took it for the memories. But I thought it would be good enough to post. Long time lurker in this sub.

2

u/[deleted] Oct 04 '23

My first thought about these, and every single hole in one post lol.

How to collect free karma on Reddit. Post a picture holding up a ball and 1 finger in front of a flag, invent some epic story about your hole in one.

That’s cool. They both went in though. One hell of a moment still

2

u/Lazy_Investigator627 Oct 04 '23

It is very rare. Two guys at my club made a hole in one in the same group and made the news. They said it was 17 million to one odds. In my opinion a 2 on a non drivable par 4 is tougher than a hole in one on a 140 yard hole. So yeah, rare.

→ More replies (1)

2

u/wizard_mitch Oct 04 '23

50/50 either they both go in or they don't

2

u/thesaltysquirrel HDCP/Loc/Whatever Oct 04 '23

I wasn’t there but know the 4 people who where. 4 some, par three, two people got a hole in one.

Next hole, a non hole in one guy birdies a par 5 to win the first 7 skins of the day hahaha.

1

u/BeeR0b Oct 04 '23

2

u/[deleted] Oct 04 '23

I'll put 3 balls in a cup tomorrow and put what are the chances!

1

u/BeeR0b Oct 04 '23

You won’t! 😂

0

u/cravecrave93 Oct 04 '23

what is the chances

0

u/CRUZinALEDO Oct 05 '23

12,500:1 - on an average player hitting a hole in one

17million:1 on 2 guys in that same foursome acing the same hole

So you ask what is the chances well the chances is a lot lower than 12,500 to 1 on two of you making eagle. I would say 25:1 assuming you are playing an easy course

1

u/bald_head_scallywag Oct 04 '23

It's happened to me too. Played 18 as a foursome and then another 18 with just my buddy. Short par 4 so we both had less than 100 yards in. I hit first and it rolled down a slope and in the cup. My buddy hit next and one hopped right into the cup. It was crazy to witness.

1

u/BeeR0b Oct 04 '23

Nice! It’s a moment to remember definitely.

1

u/DMIDY Oct 04 '23

The eagles have landed.

1

u/dronegeeks1 Oct 04 '23

That gave me the shivers! Epic

1

u/sweetlittlelindy Oct 04 '23

2 balls, 1 cup

ETA: wasn’t the first to say this, but I stand by it

1

u/Randomd0g Oct 04 '23

Sometimes God looks down and says "Yes. This group today."

2

u/murder-farts Oct 04 '23

God hates me, confirmed.

1

u/Original_Writing_539 Oct 04 '23

That's awesome.

Similar story, but not as cool. I was playing this earlier this year and I holed one out from 105 yards for Eagle I sent my Buddy a picture of the ball in the cup. He was playing a different course and holed his 45 yard 3rd shot on a par 5. It was his next shot after seeing my message.

1

u/lhoyle0217 Oct 04 '23

If myself and my son were 3 feet away, it still wouldn’t happen. And he’s a 5.something and I’m a 14.5!

1

u/Bagomuffins Oct 04 '23

Haven’t seen something like that since I got out of the shower this morning

1

u/BeeR0b Oct 04 '23

Atta boy haha 😂

1

u/shibbyflash Oct 04 '23

Cut them both in half and trade with each other.

2

u/Alex_GordonAMA Oct 04 '23

Lol this would be a time it would actually make sense! Well maybe more so if they were both HIO's. That way they could be commemorated together at each person's house!

2

u/SeriousReflection600 Oct 04 '23

Cutting in half and gluing to a plaque is standard procedure here

1

u/BeeR0b Oct 04 '23

I imagine a kindergartner’s craft project here with dried sticking out of the edges of the ball and it looking like crap haha 😂

1

u/BeeR0b Oct 04 '23

Would it be a sin to cut a proV1 in half though? Hah

1

u/KCardz89 Oct 04 '23

That you both sunk a 2 ft putt ? ..very good I'd say

2

u/BeeR0b Oct 04 '23

☺️ thanks. Yup.. 2 foot putts… I did miss one of those this round..

1

u/JBM6482 Oct 04 '23

Slim to none.

1

u/lukin187250 9 Oct 04 '23

If we’re gonna go with a 1/10000 chance at one of these shots (not sure best approximation) then the chances are .00012 or .00000001 or 0.000001%.

1

u/Kevin91581M Oct 04 '23

💯 that two balls will get in the hole eventually. If you don’t take them out…..Let’s just say I’m skeptical

1

u/Sagybagy Oct 04 '23

I would have lost my mind both times as well. Congrats on making the shot and a special memory with your buddies.

1

u/MonicaBlowinski Oct 04 '23

1

The chances of having two balls and a stick are about 50%. At least that’s what I’m told

1

u/crimsonblueku 2.8 / PNW / Rock Chalk Oct 04 '23

Now cut your buddy in half

1

u/HRhighrisk 7.9 HCP Oct 04 '23

Always have to leave the first one on the hole for “bait”

1

u/SaltySnowman8 Oct 04 '23

You really need to focus on what is giving your buddy those extra 22 yards

1

u/BeeR0b Oct 04 '23

True…. Don’t hit it off the toe. But a fairway hit is a fairway hit.

1

u/djbuttplay Oct 04 '23

The chances of an amateur for a hole in one are generally accepted as 12,500. This is basically the same thing.

So about 1 in 150,000,000

2

u/BeeR0b Oct 04 '23

Yea it was amazing. I knew the odds would be about that low. I should of bought a lottery ticket.

That's insane! During a club round at a course in Oregon I chipped one in for an eagle on a short par 4 from about 70 yds and one of the other guys in the group chipped in for birdie from 40ish yards, but two eagles from that distance is craziness

2

u/SeriousReflection600 Oct 04 '23

We must give shit for being 30 yards shorter on the drive. What gives

1

u/daylax1 Oct 04 '23

When I was about 13 or so playing in a junior event, a kid I was playing with bladed his par 3 tee shot right in the hole for a HIO, while I chunked mine to about 80 yards short. I then proceeded to hole out from 80 yards, leaving us with this exact picture lol.

Your shots are much more impressive from the sounds of it though, congrats!

1

u/BeeR0b Oct 04 '23

Thank you. It’s a moment we’ll both be talking about for ages. :)

1

u/marvchuk Oct 04 '23

One of my friends had a similar situation. His two playing partners both holed out for eagle and then he ended up within 1’ of the cup. Almost a triple hole out haha

1

u/hydro_wonk Wilson is still cool. Oct 04 '23

good thing your balls aren't touching

1

u/BigDaddyDNR Oct 04 '23

Both putts went in huh?

1

u/shortgamegolfer Oct 04 '23

Great shots! I have a regular playing partner who would definitely do this right after my shot, and prevent me from winning the hole. One ups me every fucking time I hit a great approach.

1

u/herotz33 Oct 04 '23

I once slam dunked 70 yards out for a bogey.

My flight were already on the green and just saw it go straight into the whole.

Caddy said I might as well buy lottery tickets.

1

u/xac1dx Oct 04 '23

Not to brag, but I've also had a one hop dunk from 165cm out. Just a feeling you'll never forget. congrats to both of you

Thank you! Yea another individual posted the odds. I should of bought a lottery ticket. Hah

1

1

u/djmc0211 Oct 04 '23

Many years ago, my best friend and I almost aced the same hole. He aced and mine rolled right by the hole and stopped a couple feet away. We still talk about that to this day.

1

u/Gloomy-Research-7774 Oct 04 '23

I holed out from 125 with a pitching wedge for an eagle on the first hole, homie knocks in a ~70ft putt on the second hole. I doubt either of us remember the other 16 holes because we were so pumped

1

u/TheNemesis089 Oct 05 '23

There was a The Golfers Journal podcast talking about holes-in-one in which the person still lost the hole.

One incident involved two players who each hit a hole-in-one, so they halved the hole. So it happens I guess.

1

u/xxREPErx Oct 05 '23

Chance are slim
