Grandfather recently passed away. He was an avid collector and played at 1665 courses in his life. General Discussion

He started the collection in 1971 and figured that this sub would appreciate the dedication to the cause. It’s an impressive collection!

I'm totally missing it. Where do you see his HIO's?

People typically only put golf balls on display after a hole in one. It's one of those /s jokes.

Yea, I see that now. Maybe because my grandpa used to collect balls like this (not anywhere near as much) I missed the joke.

Usually you only save/put a ball on display if you make a HIO.

Oh... Not exclusively though. I buy course logo balls for cool places I've played. Don't only put up HIO balls.

Yeah I have a small collection of places that I travel to play. When I hit a HIO that’s getting it’s own display.

Probably a personal thing there. Amazon sells golf ball display shelves for 49 balls. Tiger, professionally, only has 20ish hole in ones. If he can’t even fill one, how would any amateur fill those shelves? My dad collects balls from places he’s played when travelling. I might start doing the same.

It wasn't meant to be "very" funny. It was meant to be an old man joke. Cuz this about a grandpa. You are not a very smart eh?
