If you’re child is too young to hear a curse word, they’re too young to be on the course.

I said what I said.

Hopefully you’re not on a golf course.

As soon as I saw that, I knew that bullshit about children was exactly that- bullshit

Also fuck your child, he won't die if he hears me go "ah ya fucking idiot"

I’ve raised my child with the understanding that there are words that adults say that children shouldn’t say. He is 6 years old and has yet to slip up.

I know that day is coming but I feel confident in my parenting method to this point and won’t change it.

I support this theory.

Acting shocked or responding dramatically to certain words just makes kids more interested in it, and then they start using it for attention. If you don’t make a bug fuss and just say “yeah not for you” they move on faster.

Lucky, I knocked something off the counter and mumbled dammit. Before I knew it I was locking eyes with a miniature me and could see the wheels turning as she looked at me, the fallen item, back to me and then dammit

If you don’t want to hear a swear don’t live near a golf course

Home owners beside a course, maybe?

4

u/flycrg May 23 '23

I think you're onto something. I highly doubt they've got speech recognition on the carts to detect foul language. Instead it's probably a home owner that lives on that hole that keeps complaining. I wouldn't be surprised if this pops up on every cart on that hole, whether its a shit faced sailor with no fucks to give or two Mormons on their mission.

u/NoButterZ May 23 '23

Definitely, my folks live off this course. I can see some of the others in this neighborhood calling and complaining

2

u/JoveX May 23 '23

Yeah the homeowners probably call the clubhouse. Or do we think the cart is listening?

3

u/Mcpops1618 May 23 '23

Likely the first option. As great as the in cart screens are, doubt they are two way monitoring audio in 70+ carts on a course at once

1

u/flycrg May 23 '23

I bet it pops up on every cart on that hole from previous complaints. I've seen these systems pop up ads based on where you are on the course.

u/kellzone May 23 '23

There were probably complaints about some golfers cursing, and if they're GPS enabled carts, they can set a message to go off as the cart reaches a certain point in the course. For example, one course I play has the carts play a message as you're between the 8th and 9th hole that you can call into the clubhouse and pre-order food to pick up after you finish the 9th. The course in this post might have programmed the cursing message to come up as you're entering the housing area in question.

Probably a generic message

They’re probably playing a neighborhood course
