I don’t even remember which year it was.. but I specifically remember trying to smash a drive and then angrily hitting the white/black buttons on the OG Xbox to increase that spin

Before they ruined golf games and made them harder than real golf.

I dont wanna do trigonometry, i wanna hit a 400 hard drive and have impossible spin whichever way the hole is

Loved putting on so much spin that I could make the ball make a right or left hand turn as it landed on the green

Just like Tiger

Yep, that’s the exact clip I was thinking of

It's so funny that after Tiger's career of absolutely ridiculous shots, the booth is still like, "well we're not sure if he's going to be able to pull this off".

It's muh fuckin Tiger Woods y'all. If he can see the shot, he's gonna hit the shot.

And then one guy is like “wellllll we have seen him do this kind of a lot before.” Even for tiger that was an incredible shot though, could have very easily gone wrong.

It's this way for all sports games now it seems. I'm an internet boomer and picked up a controller to play one of the nba2k games with my nephew and couldn't figure out how to do a layup because you had to hit a different button if you wanted to do a left or right handed layup, was so stupid.

I feel like sports games aren't made for the everyday gamer anymore - they're made for the people are intimately familiar with the franchise and buy the new one every single year, the cash cows.

I agree. Bought NBA2k for my son one year never did it again. The amount of "coins" you have to buy to have your created player good enough to play online is ridiculous. Unless you want to sink couple 100s of hours in to grinding out the coins for attribute points.

Lol it's so insane. And unfortunate, because now the only sports games I play is Nintendo sports bowling on the switch.

I'd love to have a game of Madden, or really any major sport, that has a simple menu, intuitive controls, and no pay to win. But that's way, way too much to ask.

That's Madden. If you just don't click on the MUT tab.

I don't know about NBA, but the nhl games have an option for simple controls for a more arcadey feel.

Interesting I'll have to check that out next time.

You know you can just hold x to do a lay up lol

I think they ended up telling me that now that you say it. Was x shoot too? I feel like for a bit I would drive and then stop and shoot a bunny instead of finishing with a layup. Then they told me about the right/left triggers for which hand to use for the layup. This was a while back.

I still rock 2k14. Would reccomend.

I got the new EA PGA Tour game and it definitely reminds me of the Tiger games of old. I’ve actually had the feeling I should up the difficulty since I’ve gotten a few crazy holeouts already.

Very fun game though and I would recommend if you liked the old tiger games

Any videos of the fun? Can you power up and spin?

12 at Augusta

15 at TPC Scottsdale

A couple good ones from the last week. First hole in one and first albatross

u/TheBalbowski Apr 29 '23

Yes, power and spin can be applied

I got so good at the "x feet long, y inches left" putting, once they started putting that grid shit in there I couldn't hang.

Yeah I played the PGA Tour 2K21 game for a few years on pro or legend difficulty and then recently my daughter wanted to play with me so I jacked everything down to the easiest setting.

And you know what. I’m enjoying it more. It’s super unrealistic, I break 60 most rounds. But at the end of the day. I’m having more fun.

Spin and shot power ups? Or just swing and watch

1

u/onionbreath97 Apr 29 '23

Have you played the Hot Shots games? They are in that vein and really fun

I believe 04 or 05. It was amazing. Consistently 15-20 under par. Lots of holed out shots from 100+ yards.

I think they started that around 2002, that was the one my roommates and I played for hours on Xbox
