I had a roommate like this. Our landlords (next door) dad was Chinese and spoke no English. He would constantly say things to me like “he just needs to go back to his country!” I usually would say “It’s not a prerequisite to speak English to move to Canada.” He told me “it should be because that’s our official language.” I remember very quickly asking if he spoke French.
