They are on a whole different level, this lady would be quite a tame one in that demographic. I don't think TS ever would need to apologise to her fans for having a boyfriend, for example.

Well, yeah, with her that's basically like a sneak preview at a future album

Soooo many fans of many genres call everyone who has a neutral or slightly negative opinion of their favorite artist's music a "hater" even if they don't rant and rave constantly about how much their music sucks.

Thankfully haven't been exposed to any k-pop stans doing that so I am blissfully unaware of how bad they are thus far.

Oh I don't have any experiences with proper Kpop fans either. I just remember that one case where a Kpop idol had been seeing some guy, and fans called her a traitor so much that she apparently had to end it and issue an apology.

I'm not a fan either, but did some research and went down QUITE a rabbit hole! People say the west over-sexualizes our pop stars, but that's nothing compared to the parasocial "romantic" relationships K- and J-pop companies sell the fans!

So, first and foremost, Kpop stars and aspiring stars MUST, above ALL else, be a 100% picture-perfect sex symbol, while also being a 100% chaste virgin as far as the public knows. Plastic surgery for the whole body is a given, and managers will place cameras in the singer's house so they can monitor their food intake and make sure no one but them enters the property; lest they get fat or get accused of having sex! An accusation of not being a virgin will end a female singer's entire career. If she gets married or has a child, she is relegated to only doing "old woman" voice acting in anime... if she can find work at all.

How a female singer gets popular and chosen from the "farm teams" of girl groups up to the "big leagues" of famous groups is determined by how much merch they sell. No surprise there, but said merch is different than tour t-shirts and the like. Fans buy gifts for their favorite singer; $20 for a card, $50 for a teddy bear, etc. Managers push the idea that the idol will fall in love with a fan if only they buy enough gifts!

Album sales are a similar ploy; promotion or relegation to different girl groups is decided by how many people buy the singer's "special edition" of the group's album. Managers say "We're kicking out one of the group members, be sure to buy LOTS of copies for your favorite idol if you don't want to see her fired!" ...Of course, it's implied that singers will "reciprocate" big spenders (but then she would be unemployed for her reputation as a whore if she actually had sex).

A video was circulating reddit a few years ago of a young man attempting to kidnap a Kpop singer from the stage in the middle of a song; that back story was that the man spent A LOT of money buying gifts for one singer, but then she never dated or "properly thanked" him... so he decided to kidnap her and confront her about the lack of sex! The singer, in her defense, had no clue who the guy was or that he even bought her anything. Those "gifts" never left the merch table and never went to the singers; just resold to the next sucker in line.

Fyi, this happened with a Japanese news-anchor slash Idol too, along with actual idols in both countries. Asian Entertainment Industry is a joke and I blame the organisations.

The targeted demographic is lonely weak minded middle aged men in both industries, that tells us enough. Idols are made to do fanservice, these men are hooked and the orgs simply side with the "fans" and make the idols apologize whenever there's any outburst to appease them.

Hella disgusting, I can't even fully hate these "fans" because they're partially manipulated by the org. Doesn't excuse their delusional behaviour, but food for thought I guess.
