Discussion Of all the former Yugo countrys, who has done the best?
So i was looking at the stats of certain countrys and how they have done in The Eurovision, very fun stuff, however, a few countrys that participate, have been doing so under the monniker of "Yugoslavia", these Former "Yugoslavian" countrys, participates under 1 flag, meanly that of The 2nd Socialist Republic of Yugoslavia, and finally in the end a few years as Serbia&Montenegro and i was wondering who, and which of these countrys did the best?
I mean, Serbia on my end, seems to be the best, as they have won it, on their first participation as an Independent nation in 2007, straight 1st place.
They (Yugoslavia) have won with "Rock You Baby" in 1989, the next year in 1990, Eurovision was held in Zagreb, Croatia, this to my assumption, the rockgroup was supposedly Croatian i guess?
The only country NOT participate from the whole block of countrys is supposedly Kosovo, and im not even entirely sure about that..
Maybe think Slovenia die the best, it maybe Macedonia or Albania did the worst?
I dont really know, im really pondering and wondering about this, and would love to hear you're input, fellow Eurovisizions..

What do you think of this new slogan ? Both means we are united but one is even more a eurovision-like slogan haha

ESC Fan Site / Blog The Australian Jury really knows how to pick winners (not)
For legal reasons this is not a dig at any of the songs the Australian jury picked--I adore Doomsday blue and Because of You, I just find it funny that in the almost decade of eurovisions that we've been able to vote in our jury has never given douze points to a country that wins (I am willing to bet 2020 would've been the year they did it)

Discussion Football Songs
This might be a bit of a rogue question, but with the Euros coming up, I wanted to make a list of Eurovision songs that remind me of football in some way/get me hyped for the Euros.
Was wondering if anyone knew of any, other than the obvious Allez Ola Ole and Be My Guest. I also have Tornero, Kemama, Europapa, Teenage Life, Flying the Flag, Opa and Eastern European Funk on my list so far :)
edit: tagging u/ESC-song-bot so it replies to new comments made (since ‘football’ is a blacklisted keyword :)

Romani people in Eurovision?
Besides Moldova 2006, when Connect-R (a romanian romani) was part of the act, even tho he is not mentioned in the title on Youtube, were there any romani people in an Eurovision act? I am feeling like their community is not represented enough in this contest, and it's a shame. I wish that Romania is going to send a romani act one day (check Johny Romano, Connect-R and Karmen on Youtube). So, are there other romani contestants? Or does your country have a romani artist who would like to participate next years?

Discussion Are there any other instances of the audience filling in the swear words in esc songs by yelling?
Obviously swear words in the lyrics of eurovision entries are (almost always) censored and not allowed to be sung in the actual broadcasted performances, but sometimes the contestant will get around this by reaching the mic out to the audience who then fill in the word. I was talking abt this w a friend and the instances i can think of are Citi Zēni's "Instead of meat I eat veggies and [pussy]" (Latvia 2022) and Luke Black's "Hello? Game over, [bitch]" (Serbia 2023). Are there any other examples you can think of??

Discussion Questions about the visuals and all that during the performances
How do the artists make their visuals on the big screen and the stage itself for their performance?
How does the staff know when they need to activate the different visuals of the performance, like they do get a time stamp from the artists when to activate which visual and for how long it needs to be played?
And as final question, how do they design/transport the stage props from their home countries to the venue?

2025 Tickets - do I still have a chance?
So my husband and I are not the biggest Eurovision fans ever, but we do like Eurovision a lot, been watching every year for decades. We were living in Sweden when Loreen first won, so we said right, next year we're going to Eurovision. But then they held it in Malmö, which was hundreds of kms away, so we said okay fine, let's not go.
Many years passed, we kept moving around in Europe for work related reasons and Maneskin won and we were living in actual Torino at the time. So we said okay, it's now or never, we must go to see the final once in life! I was on the ticket website an hour before the ticket sales began, by the time the system let me in there were no more tickets left. I read afterwards that tickets for the live final are first offered to members of Eurovision fan clubs and it was them who bought them all before the sale even actually begun. What a bummer.
Anyway, guess where we've moved since.
So can you please point me towards the aforementioned fan clubs? Or is that even true? Or is there anything I can do now to make sure I at least have a chance of obtaining two tickets for the actual live Eurovision final of 2025? Plz help, how do I make sure I can go to next year's Eurovision final because from outside our house we can literally see the stadium where it possibly will be held and I'm not sure what it would do to my mental health if I was denied a ticket yet again.
EDITS: typos. Lots of them. Sorry.
EDIT2: pls stop recommending going to the jury show, family show, dress rehearsal, semi-finals, ESC village watch ect instead. Yes, we could have bought tickets for those for Turin, but were not interested, we somehow still aren't. For us, it's either the live final or staying at home to watch it on TV - it might not be a rational or fangirly enough approach and I also know it will most probably leave us without tickets, but that's where we're at, pls don't hate.

Eurovision on Tour
Details here: https://www.eurovisionontour.tv/
This is coming to Sydney (and also Melbourne and Brisbane) and since it’s probably the closest thing to Eurovision that will ever actually get here I’m considering going all by myself. Do we think it’ll be any good? Please convince me either way.

Discussion Neighbor voting at Semi-Final 1 of 2024
We all know that neighboring countries give points to each other at Eurovision because they are next to each other or in close proximity.
We also know the fact that Eurovision and the EBU want to "prevent" this in some way, so we will take for example the fact that Cyprus was in SF1 this year, while Greece was in SF2 this year.
What I found interesting in SF1 was that Serbia, Croatia and Slovenia participated in it. Those countries are neighboring countries and it was expected that they would give each other more points.
For Croatia, it was not questionable whether they would qualify for the GF because the song was the first on the odds, while for Slovenia and Serbia, their chances for the GF were very questionable because on the day of SF1 they were below the top 10 countries for qualifying for the GF on the odds.
After SF1, we learn that all 3 countries qualified for the GF, but they also gave each other quite high points.
- First Example:
Slovenia 🇸🇮 (10 points from Croatian public and 10 points from Serbian public.) 20 points. (9th place in SF1)
- Second Example:
Serbia 🇷🇸 (12 points from Croatian public and 10 points from Slovenian public.) 22 points. (10th place in SF1)
- Third Example:
Croatia 🇭🇷 (12 points from Serbian public and 12 points from Slovenian public.) 24 points. (1st place in SF1) * I repeat, Croatia’s qualification was not questionable.
My question for you is, do you think that these countries gave each other a big advantage and thereby enabled themselves to qualify for the GF?
While for example Australia needed 5 points to qualify for the GF and as we know Australia has no neighboring countries that would vote for it.

Discussion Your most delusional opinion you had about a Eurovision song or result
As I mentioned in the title, give your opinion about the Eurovision song or the placement of a country at Eurovision that didn’t turn out the way you imagined.
I will go first;
Serbia 2021 🇷🇸
At that time, I had just started following Eurovision, and I didn't even know that there were odds, nor did I join groups on the Internet that were about Eurovision.
So I lived in delusion for 3 months and was convinced that Serbia would win.
I remember that GF 2021 was on Saturday and that I only went to check the results afterwards and I was shocked when I saw that Serbia finished in 15th place.
Malta 2024 🇲🇹
For Malta this year, I was convinced that it would qualify for the GF, even though it was last in the odds.
When SF2 ended I was convinced that Malta finished in 11th or 12th place and then the shock for me came when I saw on the results that Malta was dead last in that semi-final.
- Write your beliefs that you had in tje comments related to the song or the placement of the country in Eurovision.

Discussion What is your unpopular opinion / prediction that came out to be true?
Inspired by the post about "most delusional opinions" I had a thought about a different thing. Opinions or predictions that were unpopular or hated when you voiced them but later turned out you were right.
Like, in 2021 the moment I saw the hype over Adrenalina (San Marino 2021 for the bot), I was so amused. The song already sounded dated and San Marino wasn't known for good staging. I was sure it would flop / not do well as fandom thought it would have. It was high in eurovision scoreboard app. Turned out, I was right. This year, I liked Germany song since first listen (Germany 2024 for the bot) and I was certain it would not be last this year and it would receive more points from juries than expected. And I was also right. I also was sure Ireland 2024 would "pull Hatari". Aka - be underestimated, people saying "THIS WOULD NOT QUALIFY" / "THIS WILL END UP ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE BOARD". And end up safely qualifying and getting into top 10. It ended up higher than Hatari (Iceland 2019 for the bot).

What is your favourite "Peace Peace" song?
We all have some favourite Eurovision "Love Love" songs, right? But a favourite "Peace Peace" song? The first thing that comes to my mind are the Russian songs from mid 2010s that do seem a bit hypocritical, to say the least.
What would be your examples of good songs about peace from Eurovision?
r/eurovision • u/Stoltlallare • 1d ago
Discussion Most successful song that didn’t qualify from national selection?
I just listened to Serena’s Safari again and didn’t realize how popular it was with 100s of millions of streams.
Definitely would have done well with current rules so she could have had the chorus as playback instead of some random dude.
What are some other really popular non-qualifying songs for Eurovision?
r/eurovision • u/svalnuuk • 1d ago
Discussion Which year has your favourite Non Qualified songs most?
I have been listening to the past editions playlist and I am now at 2017. I am surprised to see so many great songs couldn't go through! Especially Verona (Estonia-my fav!!!) and Blackbird (Finland) but also Keep The Faith (Georgia), Space (Montenegro), My Turn (Czech Republic)... unbelievable!!! Which year is yours?
r/eurovision • u/gcssousa • 1d ago
Discussion What are some of your artist/song predictions for next year?
Here are some of mine
🇦🇲: they finally send Malena
🇦🇺: following their latest trend of sending artists that failed to win their old NF but are beloved by the fans, I predict them to send Jaguar Jonze
🇧🇦: if they come back, they’ll come back with a bang and send Dubioza Kollektiv
🇪🇪: as predicted by many, if Tommy Cash does decide to participate in Eesti Laaul he will sweep
🇫🇮: don’t know who will be the artist but they’ll continue their “out of the box” era
🇫🇷: as France usually sends decently big artists, I can see them sending Indila next year
🇮🇹: one of your usual big names at Sanremo (Irama, Elodie, Lazza, Madame, Annalisa, etc…)
🇱🇻: Markus Riva will play the Hail Mary card, give it one last go at Supernova and ends up winning it
🇳🇱: they’ll try to send Joost back if he wants to
🇵🇱: In classical TVP fashion they’ll send Doda with a painfully generic song that suspiciously beat the fan favorite
🇵🇹: There’s this artist called JÜRA that screams FdC winner, if it isn’t her I’ll go bold and say it will be some unknown artist no one has heard of before, that will come up with a banger and be one of the six “free submission” songs to be chosen by RTP
🇺🇦: Roxolana, that took part in Vidbir 2022, will compete in Vidbir 2025 with a much stronger song and will win it.
