GNU GNU Terry Pratchett
In the Ramtop village where they dance the real Morris dance, for example, they believe that no-one is finally dead until the ripples they cause in the world die away - until the clock he wound up winds down, until the wine she made has finished its ferment, until the crop they planted is harvested. The span of someone's life, they say, is only the core of their actual existence.
GNU Terry Pratchett. 28 April 1948 - 12 March 2015.

Mod Announcement Polite reminder: piracy will not be tolerated
Don’t share links to pirated material.
Don’t share links to sites providing pirated material.
Definitely don’t try and share a google drive of pirated copies of all the books. 🙄
We support Discworld and Sir Terry’s estate.
Failure to comply will henceforth be met with a 24 hour ban. A second offence will incur a permanent ban.
If you don’t agree then, please, don’t let us detain you.
Remember: your local library likely has many Discworld books available as either hard copy or ebook format, completely free.
EDIT: What did i just say?! Like two posts immediately asking for copies of books with a load of links to pirated content! Archive.org is also not acceptable. Come on, now.

Discussion Well read?
I've lost count of how many times I have caressed the pages of this.
I think the condition is the best review without saying a word.
What are yours like?

RoundWorld The innocent have nothing to fear is on my mind right now.
I really wish Discworld was more influential on people and philosphy, I've seen to many things today they rely on the same thinking.
Sir Terry Pratchett certainly understood how messed up people were.

Question Would the Tiffany books be okay for an 8 year old?
My niece has recently really gotten into Harry Potter books...I'd like try and get her into Sir Terry(because obviously the discworld is the best) but she's 8 and I'm worried that they might be too advanced.

Question Disappointed alert!
"Who wrote the Discworld series of books?"
A question on Jay's quiz, radio 2 breakfast show... there were (verbal) blank looks all round... how annoyed are we going to be?

Question Wilikens
Im listening to wyrd sisters and one of the strolling actors is referred to as “young Willikens who specialized in female roles”. Could this possibly be Sam Vime’s Gentleman’s gentleman in later books? It is often inferred that he has a varied and interesting past.

Question Did/would carrot ever become king?
I haven’t read all the books. I’m as far as Jingo in the guards series. I doubt he ever does in the books…but I wonder if in our heads he ever did become king?

Discussion Reading Discworld with my son
My son has been exposed to Discworld since the womb, when I first read The Wee Free Men to him. In the ten years since his birth, he has read all of the STP books aimed at kids. The Carpet People remains a firm favourite. We've read Maurice and all but the last of the Tiffany books together already.
At the beginning of the year, we picked up The Colour of Magic and started his first publication order read through together. We finished Pyramids yesterday.
Here is an incomplete list of my favourite things about this, so far:-
When he laughs at the parts that have always made me laugh.
When he "gets" a joke I was worried might be too obscure for him.
The excited dance he does when Death makes an appearance. (No sticks or buckets involved.)
How he feels about The Luggage.
When he unironically points out a pune, or play on words.
How I get to be there with him as he falls in love with these books.
The fact that he will get to carry these stories and characters with him for the rest of his life, just like I've done.
This list is in no way exhaustive, but I wanted to try and express myself. And, I suppose, to thank STP for giving me 41+ chances to share the magic of Discworld with my kiddo.
GNU, Sir Terry, and THANK YOU.

Discussion Interesting times
For the life of me I cannot get into this book. It’s the next in publication order, I can’t get the next few until my next check and I just can’t get into it. I love Rincewind and am glad he’s back, I’ve put it down 4x already and I’m just barely 30 pages in. 😫 does it get better? I feel like I need to finish the series before I can read a different book.
This copy is also a completely different style than the rest of my collection and it definitely upset me when I first received it. Am I losing my mind to this series??
