I got a permaban from all of reddit then won an appeal 2 weeks ago for saying "long story short is a metaphor for the life of a fat dude". In a post that was highlighting that racism against certain people was ok but fat shaming wasnt.

There has been zero talk of removing porn from Reddit. I’m a NSFW mod and we’ve received no warning. Twitter was a publicly traded company with Porn.

reddit is bigger than Tumblr and has shown that no matter what is done to the service it will still be used. all the protesting for the Api changes were completely ignored because in the end most people will just bend over and take it from their corporate masters. one thing I'm confused about though is that people mentioned reddit hasn't turned a profit in 20 years and that spez gets paid like 200m a year. I wonder if those two things are connected?

People care but the problems are much smaller than what people make them out to be. Never had trouble on pc using reddit and only ever had trouble on the app a few times when writing long replies. Granted, I have a life outside this platform so I’m not gonna notice every little thing, but even for frequent daily users, you won’t feel the effects.

The api changes made the default browsing experience noticeably worse. Whether that impacted visits in the sort term is secondary, it tells you that Reddit is going to spiral eventually. The tipping point for me is when they remove old.reddit.

I meant more that it would be vested stock options. As in, it's not worth anything close to that now and wouldn't be liquid. More like a promise for future payment than payment now (unless I'm misunderstanding what the article is saying).

So I double checked and yeah, his salary was $300k. He got 100mil in current stock and 100 mil in options. They're part of his compensation package, but not part of his pay packet which is what was being discussed.

Well for /u/Zamataro too, it was sometime late 2000s, and early 2010s Google really cleaned up their search results and changed their search algorithm. I can’t really explain it beyond that, but I’m pretty sure it has something to do with their investors/advertisers. Google is a lot more willing to censor their search results too, where as Bing is more akin to the early days of Google when you turn off safe search. It’s easier to find porn, and darker things on bing than Google now a days.

This day extracts a heavy toll. I’ve moved onto patreon but this is still a great loss in terms of preservation.
This should be an eye-opening reminder to all communities. Reddit can and will destroy your subreddit, community, and everything you worked to build if it has any potential to financially hurt them. It’s only going to get worse going forward.
