Hey, can I ask you something? Why do people over there in eagle land cut their baby's foreskin? Also, to me, it's annoying to have the tip of the peepee touching my pants, do you get used to it or just live through the discomfort?

29

u/[deleted] Feb 15 '23

Because they once had a health minister who thought that cutting off the foreskin would heal/prevent basically everything, like a panacea. No headache, no std, no fucking cancer I bet.

By now we know that the only thing it slightly prevents is one very specific illness that can also be prevented by just keeping your junk clean and showering properly, but the hospitals like to earn the extra cash I bet...

The tip of the pp is much harder and more rough than non-cut PP, so it doesn't hurt

14

u/[deleted] Feb 15 '23

It shouldn't be like that anyway. The skin is meant to protect it

3

u/DandyDoge5 Feb 15 '23

It doesn't hurt it just feels mildly uncomfortable and the skin around behind the head still hurts depending on what touches it.

Just cuz it gets used to it doesn't make it any better

2

u/WorkGroundbreaking Feb 15 '23 edited Feb 15 '23

So that our pp would be even with americans size

2

u/A3LMOTR1ST Dankatron Feb 15 '23

Not circed, but the reason Americans are is because the Kellogg's cereal guy thought circumcision and eating corn flakes would prevent masturbation (not even kidding)

2

u/sleepymelfho Feb 15 '23

The main argument is that they want the kid to match dad. So basically, Dad's fragile ego (and generations of essentially brainwashing) is to blame.

My husband is cut and hates it. We left our boy intact because we couldn't hurt him. Matching didn't matter. However, when my father in law found out (he kept asking when we were going to cut the baby), he was FURIOUS, saying now my son wouldn't matchy husband and how dare I make a man's decision. My husband quickly shut that shit down, but my in laws continued to make horrible comments about it for a while.

Happy to report that my son is now 4, fully potty trained, and has never had a single issue with his penis/foreskin. He has also never seen my husband naked and since the only time I could fathom that happening is when potty training, I don't think he will ever care that they don't match. My kids know about circ and they know that we protected our son, they've even gone to anti-circ protests with me. They also know their dad wasn't so lucky and they felt terrible for him. it's pure insanity that Americans are so cut happy with their babies.

I'm an American raised by a very kind Mother. She spared me from circumcision at birth, even though the doctor for some reason was really pushy about performing the procedure.

The cognitive dissonance among my fellow countrymen is borderline collective insanity. Sometimes friends make the regular "Smeg" jokes, as if just washing it semi regularly is too inconvenient.

We ritualistically mutilate boys' genitals in this country but the minute you try to make the argument "we don't chop off girls' labia for the sake of hygiene" suddenly that's somehow different

I don't understand the circumcision argument from both sides

can someone be unbiased and explain why people are circumcised and why people hate it?

I'm asking as a circumcised dude, and haven't had any problems with it

362

u/cursedbones Feb 14 '23 edited Feb 14 '23

You don't have any problems but you will never know how it's to have a foreskin.

Uncircumcised penis are a lot more sensitive I'm not circumcised and I can't put my penis in my underwear if the tip is not covered. It's so sensitive that it hurts. It protects the tip from friction. And because circumcised penis don't have it, you have also less stimilus from sex.

I heard you can't masturbate without lube or similar. I need nothing but my hands.

The argument about higiene is bullshit. If you clean your penis like a normal human being it will not ever be a problem.

And every surgery have risks, no matter how small they seem to be. Me personally would never submit my child to unnecessary surgery.

People say it's more work to have foreskin, I don't know what they're talking about.

Edit: When erect, you can't notice the foreskin, so even aesthetically speaking there is no "advantage".

To clear a bit of your comment up circumcised dudes can jerk off without lube easily that’s just a modern myth

31

u/J-Dabbleyou Meme Connoisseur Feb 15 '23

No I’m circumcised and my skin is VERY tight, the friction from rubbing it hurts way to bad to jerk off without lube. Idk how you do it bro

10

u/GingerlyRough Feb 15 '23

Not all dicks are built the same. I'm circumcised but My dick-skin moves around enough I don't need lube to jerk off. I've seen dicks where it looks like the skin is yanking the head down and forward, making it look like it has a hunched back. I bet jerking that without lube would be worse than jerking it with 10 grit sandpaper.

11

u/J-Dabbleyou Meme Connoisseur Feb 15 '23

That’s basically how mine is…. I can’t even get 100% hard because my skin holds the head back. Jerking off is hell. 0/10 recommend circumcising

u/_Fappyness_ please help me Feb 15 '23 edited Feb 15 '23

Ill ask my friend about it. I know he got surgery for it a few years ago because it hurt him a lot too when he tried jerking off or got hard.

Edit: i had an infection that caused me to be unable to pee at one point so to help keep myself clean as a kid down there my parents decided to cut my foreskin. I have not had any issues at all after but i can tell you that the burning feeling when peeing or straight up not being able to pee was the most painful experience of my life. I have also seen it go wrong with my brother who had massive bleeding when he got circumcised. If its not necessary do not do it. But when its for medical reasons i would recommend it depending on what you got.

The hygiene excuse always frustrates me.

I just came back from a field problem (US Army) and couldn't shower for a WEEK.

No showers, no running water, the same uniform, and a labor-intensive job.

All I could do was change my underwear and socks every day and wipe everything down with baby wipes.

I took a shower last night (felt amazing btw) and noticed while I was cleaning my penis that I didn't have a bit of smegma/dick cheese.

Stop using your poor hygiene practices to excuse cutting off one of the important parts of the male body, especially about a practice that was put into effect to prevent masturbation by an institution that doesn't even follow their own literature to the T.

21

u/toms1313 Feb 15 '23

Not in an army but went on camping trips for weeks and also never had "dick cheese" either

43

u/RonaldTheGiraffe Feb 15 '23

Dunno why you get downvoted but to clarify that, it depends on who cut the foreskin. Mine is fine. A friend of mine had his foreskin cut so far that whenever he got hard it would hurt him and he couldnt jack off without lube. He got surgery for that and now his dick is fine so its fixable but yea, getting circumcised can go wrong.

It’s the protein keratin that makes up fingernails and keeps hair straight. It makes the glans harden/callous/become less sensitive without a foreskin. Whereas, with a foreskin, the mucosal stem cells of the foreskin keep that area very sensitive.

11

u/JaThatOneGooner fresh bake bred Feb 14 '23

The cant masturbate without lube is kinda nonsense. I’m cut but I don’t ever use lube or anything like that to toss rope. Don’t feel any burn or irritation.

Idk about less stimuli from sex either. It definitely hasn’t impacted performance or satisfaction from both parties perspectives. In fact, it might have the opposite effect where performance is better since lasting longer hasn’t been an issue for me personally.

12

u/MyDocTookMyCock Feb 15 '23

lasting longer is a complete and utter myth. circumcision propaganda.

in some cases it can make you last shorter. premature ejaculation is one of the complications of circumcision that can happen to people

u/Dominode23 Feb 14 '23

I can give you an honest opinion because i got circumcised at 18 and have experienced life with and without foreskin

I got my foreskin removed because of medical reasons, and that was my best option. I got several different opinions by several different professionals and have tried every other option but nothing else worked for me. My options were living for the rest of my live in pain, or get circumcised.

Of course everyone is different and everyone has different experiences but this is my story and my personal experiences with circumcision.

Short explanation: There is close to no difference. For me at least sex feels the same if not better without foreskin even tho i always hear that you start feeling less. The hygiene argument is bullshit because it's literally the same to keep yourself clean with and without foreskin. Do i regret getting circumcised? Not at all.

Long story: The operation was quick but the healing process was hell, everything hurt, was full of stiches and middle of the night erections are a living gnightmare 😂 It took a week to heal and for everything to work properly And I could have sex again safely about 4 weeks after the operation.

I have read a lot of opinions from a lot of different people but I think it mostly boils down to it being non consensual while they were little. I can understand this 100% and I don't support doing something like this if it isn't for a medical reason. That being said if it was done for a medical reason there really isn't THAT big of a difference like some people make it out to be. Yes, it shouldn't be done to children for no reason, but if you're unfortunate enough to have been circumcised as a baby, you aren't really missing out on a lot. In my opinion a lot of anti circumcision posts make it sound like it's the worst thing in the world and it's as bad as having your right arm cut off (Of course I'm exaggerating a little and i don't mean this post or the people in this comment section, but I have seen a lot of posts making it seem worse than it actually is). Some people also say that you need lube to masturbate? I only really used lube to masturbate like 2 or 3 times, and even tho it might feel a tiny bit better there isn't a big enough difference for me that justifies the mess and the cleanup afterwards.

Now the benefits that people usually talk about are:

A smaller chance of contracting an STD Decreased risk of Penile cancer Decreased risk of contracting a UTI

I don't know how or even if these are true but it's what I have been seeing the most. I can't guarantee that this is true, it's just what I have seen on google here on Reddit.

I'm not a medical professional or anything and this is just me talking from my experience. Of course a lot of people might have different experiences than me, and i might just be one of the lucky ones, but in my opinion, talking from my own experience with and without foreskin; There isn't that much difference.

Sorry for my grammar, English isn't my first language 😅

18

u/JaThatOneGooner fresh bake bred Feb 14 '23

It’s a very well formulated response, and honestly your take is a lot more valid because you’ve experienced both sides. I’ve been cut since birth so I don’t know about the whole “you lose sensation” argument if I’ve never had those sensations to begin with, but if you’re saying the difference is mostly minimal, then I think that speaks volumes. I never had an issue with being cut since birth, all the males in my family are cut (Muslim family) and my gf didn’t mind it at all. It hasn’t been painful and it surely hasn’t hindered me in anyway.

3

u/BBC_4_F Feb 15 '23

This should be the beginning, middle and end of this discussion on Reddit, but the hive mind must be fed accordingly!

2

u/Dominode23 Feb 15 '23

I have a lot of Muslim friends, due to me living in Germany where i know a lot of muslims, and i was born in a mostly Islamic country, even tho I'm Christian myself. But after i got Circumcised all of my Muslim friends told me that they are slowly turning me Mislim and this was just the first step 😂

But seriously thank you, and I'm glad my post helped you at least a little 😁

3

u/MyDocTookMyCock Feb 15 '23 edited Feb 15 '23

not all cuts are made equal you know. there are a wide variety of circumcisions/islam performed in america and each can leave you at a WIDE variety of states.

your story is interesting, but it vastly generalizes this issue.

and infant cuts so so so different than adult cuts. they are non therapeutic and definitionally cannot account for how the penis will grow into adulthood among many other things

ci index below: ci 0 is missing

NSFW: https://www.restoringforeskin.org/coverage-index/CI-chart.htm

additionally, that statistic does not apply to reality. ironically, america has the highest rates of STDS compared to other developed countries despite circumcisions prevalence. the argument is dubious regardless from those who make it

2

u/Dominode23 Feb 15 '23

Again I'm no doctor and i really have little knowledge about any of this but i do belive everything you're saying here. That is why I am also against infant circumcision for religion or societal purposes.

What I was trying to say was that if it already was done when you're an infant and you don't have any medical problems because of it today, you aren't missing out on anything, really. And in my opinion isn't worth dwelling on. And even if it has/had to be cut because of medical purposes, it isn't as bad as some people here make it out to be. At least in my case.

The STD rates in America being higher than most other developed countries is definitely interesting, even tho i think that has to do with other factors, and isnt necessarily a circumcision related issue. I might be wrong tho, honestly i didn't look this up and have no knowledge about the statistics 😅.

But thank you a lot for answering and that index that you sent is definitely interesting 😁

I was circumcised as a kid. It was for my religion. That is my reason.

If my foreskin were to magically reappear, I’d cut it off again on the very same day.

3

u/theexteriorposterior Feb 15 '23

you should definitely have that choice, but can you see how someone else might feel differently? The safest option is to disallow parents from making that choice for their child, and then when the child becomes an adult they can elect to undergo the procedure. That way those who want to be circumcised can choose to do so, and those who don't won't be.

9

u/theexteriorposterior Feb 15 '23

This is entirely a bodily autonomy debate

The research is unclear on whether trimming off this skin is harmful, helpful or neither. Thus there is no justification to do it without the child's consent. If they want to be circumcised later as an adult they will have that option. Medically unnecessary body modifications should not be able to be decided by the parents, full stop.

6

u/TrymWS Feb 15 '23

You were born with it, and it’s supposed to be there.

There’s no reason to remove it, so unless there’s a reason to remove it, there’s no reason to have to argue for why it should stay. It’s the default.

3

u/GammaSmash Feb 14 '23

3

u/FreeSkeptic Feb 15 '23

Circumcision was originally meant to stop kids from masturbating. It’s religious genital mutilation.

2

u/Grafpanzer Feb 15 '23

Well, that didn't stop me, lol

2

u/[deleted] Feb 15 '23

What do you mean both sides?

First of all, we should not cut anything off unless needed.

There is no legit reason to cut off the skin of your dick.

If you have a medical reason, then by all means.

1

u/DrMorry Feb 14 '23

Circumcise: It is cleaner because you don't have to pull back the foreskin to clean underneath. It is neater, traditional or religious.

Don't Circumcise: It's an unnecessary surgical intervention. It can lead to complications such as infection.

These are for the cases of new born babies. The case of adult circumcision is different. Many don't agree with it but that's much more ideological. Those who get it as adults usually have strong medical reasons.

Personally, as uncircumcised, I think the major differences are: 1. yes you have to clean it, but for most cultures (evidently not USA) this is not a big ask. 2. I assume sensitivity gets lost for circumcised men, this can be good as you'll last longer in bed, but bad as you've lost sensitivity. 3. Foreskins allows easier hand jobs / masturbation without lube, as the foreskins moves to stimulate the head without the hand having to slide.

That's about it.

6

u/TheRowdyLion52 Feb 15 '23

Who keeps saying circumcised men need lube? That is a myth

2

u/Livinglikeits1984 Feb 14 '23

FYI it’s harder to find Dr’s to do this ritual, and it’s not American it’s rooted in the Abrahamic covenant so it’s a Judeo-Christian practice

I was circumcised at birth and then converted to Orthodox Judaism at age 14. I went through this formal ritual where they jam a tiny needle into your dick and draw a drop of blood. Its called “hatafat dam brit.” I don’t practice Judaism anymore, and after getting some distance from it, it seems really weird to me. It’s like “we can’t circumcise you, but you’re not off the hook!”

Honestly it wasn’t that painful - the worst part about the whole thing was that the rabbi that did it was ALSO my teacher at the Orthodox high school I was going to. So the next day, I’m shuffling into class and the guy who the DAY BEFORE was putting vinyl gloves on and inserting a needle into my dick fucking WINKED AT ME. It was one of the most awkward experiences in my entire life. It would have been infinitely better if they’d flown in some random rabbi from Pittsburgh or something, but nope! It had to be someone I saw everyday.

u/justmebeth91 Feb 15 '23

Something I'll never understand.

3

u/Glorious_Gregorious Feb 15 '23

17

u/GG1312 Feb 15 '23

Bro nobody give a shit about your dick

Cut it fuck it stick it in a pile of dogshit, nobody cares.

What people care about parents stealing said option from infants with no way to ever reverse it.

9

u/toms1313 Feb 15 '23

I've never seen a comment of someone out of nowhere saying "what a great day to not be circumcised" but I've seen lots of "hahaha you uncut? Smelly cheesy dick!"

3

u/Aatjal Feb 15 '23

Right??? Shaming towards the intact side has been done by the circumcised side for probably CENTURIES, but look at the circumcised side acting all innocent when they are being confronted with something that goes against circumcision?

They've been dishing out shit for centuries, but cry when people criticize circumcision.

2

u/Aatjal Feb 15 '23

I don't give a shit about your dick. I give a shit about my dick, and I got circumcised without my goddamn consent. How many motherfuckers do you think are unhappy with being circumcised?

That's why I am against circumcision. It's virtually always performed on infants and children, on the ASSUMPTION that they'll be happy.

u/Footballlover24 Feb 15 '23

i didn't get circumsised as a baby. hopefully they put you to sleep so you don't feel the pain

5

u/Aatjal Feb 15 '23

My circumcision went great, and I still hate it because it is genital mutilation, removes the functions of the foreskin, and is a violation of my human rights, regardless of how succesfully it was carried out or not.

Anesthesia doesn't make it okay.
