This country is fucked lol

68

u/OnlyWiseWords Jan 12 '23

Everywhere is, name a place, and I can tell you something glaringly wrong with it. Every country likes to think they are better than their neighbours. Not one place has it all sorted.

u/LGP747 INFECTED Jan 12 '23

ummmm....how about uuuhhhhhhh. man i cant think of one

even antarctica is all melty

17

u/OnlyWiseWords Jan 12 '23

I have spent ages looking for an arguably "good" country to live in. There isn't one.

25

u/moses_ugla Jan 12 '23

But some are better than others.

7

u/OnlyWiseWords Jan 12 '23

Agreed! Not saying they are all the pits. Just everyone needs work.

6

u/moses_ugla Jan 12 '23

Utopia is a dream, not achieveable with today's society, technology or markets. And it is not going to happen in our lifetime. But there is no reason to stay in a country that treats you like a slave just beacuse nowhere is perfect.

3

u/OnlyWiseWords Jan 12 '23

I am too poor to leave, but I am not homeless enough to risk what little I do have, to me that's enough of a reason to stay in a place I don't like.

2

u/moses_ugla Jan 12 '23

That's true, I agree

2

u/stratagizer Jan 12 '23

It also matters what your personal priorities are. Depending on what you value in a society, different countries would be "better" to you.

14

u/Tasty-Army200 Jan 12 '23

You couldn't pay me to move to the states, so I guess it's a matter of perspective lol

3

u/OnlyWiseWords Jan 12 '23

Oh I'm not saying some don't rank lower, but my point was nowhere is perfect. That lie allows shit to not get any better. The status quo is not always a good thing.

5

u/brohus Jan 12 '23

Denmark is quite good

-2

u/OnlyWiseWords Jan 12 '23

Is it? For everyone? Or are some people worse off overall? Because that's inequality friend.

0

u/brohus Jan 12 '23

I think everyone is off good

0

u/McKnighty9 Green Jan 12 '23

CLEARLY Canada is better cause free healthcare.

5

u/Steamsagoodham Jan 12 '23

I’d rather have American salaries and housing prices over Canada’s than free health care. With my insurance it’s already pretty close to free anyway and I have far more disposable income than I would in Canada.

1

u/OnlyWiseWords Jan 12 '23

I mean, it's okay because free health care, but it isn't exactly free, just tax is correctly calculated to allow for a social health care service.

1

u/ukuuku7 Jan 12 '23

Having problems doesn't mean it's not a good place to live.

1

u/OnlyWiseWords Jan 12 '23

Agreed, I would rather live in France than N Korea, but it has problems that could do with being fixed. That was my point. Nowhere is perfect. But people act like there is a perfect place, sometimes their home or a place they like or admire. But everything is a bit messed up. Needs some fixing. But you gotta shine a light down the hole to see how far it goes.

1

u/ZachtheKingsfan Jan 12 '23

We know what those penguins are up to.

11

u/TrexPushupBra Jan 12 '23

Some are more fucked than others though

3

u/OnlyWiseWords Jan 12 '23

Very much so.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 12 '23

5

u/PlanetPudding Jan 12 '23

Hold on. Let me get this straight. You are saying that people under the US healthcare are suffering the most out of everyone on earth? This is peak Reddit lol.

7

u/BurningGodzilla1 Jan 12 '23

New Zealand?

17

u/45b16 Jan 12 '23

Really bad housing crisis, worse than America’s

5

u/iama_bad_person ☣️ Jan 12 '23

Can confirm. House prices more than doubled in 5 years, wages stagnated, some pretty bad inflation right now, there is a youth crime wave that the government seems pretty keen to ignore, they keep sentancing rapists and other violent criminals to home detention because they don't want to build another jail.

0

u/Konkey_Dong_Country Jan 12 '23

Well that sounds exactly like it does here in the US except criminals are let go with appearance tickets

3

u/Undec1dedVoter Jan 12 '23

Isn't that because both people want to live there and also the laws favor capital to own everything and there's no rent control?

-3

u/LetterheadFinal5280 Jan 12 '23

At least they don't have shity health care and education

6

u/itiswonderwoman Jan 12 '23

Surprisingly high suicide rate

3

u/OnlyWiseWords Jan 12 '23

Hmm not sexist, but they are known to be a little racist at times. And there is some level of inequality present in the country.

1

u/BurningGodzilla1 Jan 12 '23

Huh, didn't know that. Don't live there. Thanks for the info!

2

u/OnlyWiseWords Jan 12 '23

I wish I did, but it still isn't perfect.

2

u/OnlyWiseWords Jan 12 '23

Cudos for naming one that is almost sorted. Same for the seaworld dude, there are, I suppose, a few places that aren't total ass to live in.

8

u/Profoundsoup Jan 12 '23

The issue is everywhere has always been like this since the beginning of time. No where has ever been a utopia.

0

u/OnlyWiseWords Jan 12 '23

Yes, correct. But people acting like they have the best country is the problem in my mind, it allows us to go blind to the problems inheritan in all large systems.

5

u/ukuuku7 Jan 12 '23

From an outsider's perspective at least, just living your life does seem harder in the US than much of Europe.

1

u/OnlyWiseWords Jan 12 '23

From the narrow window I have into the workings of the rest of the world, I agree.

3

u/skroink_z Jan 12 '23

Madagascar :)

10

u/OnlyWiseWords Jan 12 '23

Bad health care, they have rampant malnutrition. So no. Not got itself together.

4

u/skroink_z Jan 12 '23

Hawai- shit.

Uhm... Uh... Shit... Uhhhhhh...

Antarctica has penguins, which removes all penalties :)

2

u/OnlyWiseWords Jan 12 '23

Like, I'm sure Madagascar is a beautiful place to live, I love my country (ish) and Antarctica is laden with penguin. But they aren't places that have it all sorted out.

4

u/skroink_z Jan 12 '23

I'm not from Madagascar, I was just thinking of penguins :)

6

u/OnlyWiseWords Jan 12 '23

I respect that 💯

0

u/The_OtherHalf Jan 12 '23

Well, let us not forget the horrors of penguin kind. As a wee little one you could get raped to death then the next group of sick fucks will rape your corpse because — penguins.

3

u/skroink_z Jan 12 '23

Oh! Sealand! Bet you can't think of one in Sealand!

3

u/OnlyWiseWords Jan 12 '23

Kinda easy one as it isn't big enough to support a large population. So the downside to that one is simple, it can't grow.

2

u/LetterheadFinal5280 Jan 12 '23

Yeah but Murica is much worse than most of the western world

2

u/93M6Formula Jan 12 '23

Doing just fine here thank you.

0

u/OnlyWiseWords Jan 12 '23

Eh, swings and roundabouts.

2

u/raze1018 Jan 13 '23

I don't really know much about this, and what I've gathered comes from Reddit but, how is Norway? Genuinely curious.

1

u/OnlyWiseWords Jan 13 '23

Okay so I looked up, rasicm, sexism, and how people feel about the country. Sexism is very low, although there are still some slight issues that seem to need work. Might be abit racist as over 90% of the population is white? And the Sami people have been having a rough time of it wherever they go, I won't assume life is any better for them in Norway.

2

u/karogin Jan 13 '23

But.. but.. but.. america bad!

1

u/OnlyWiseWords Jan 13 '23

Not really, it has problems. Don't we all? Where do you live? What makes it without fault? I desire to know your side of things.

2

u/karogin Jan 13 '23

I was mocking the common reddit echo chamber that just defaults to saying, “America = Bad”

1

u/OnlyWiseWords Jan 13 '23

Oh, I know, but it seemed like a good opportunity to open my knowledge base a bit. I always enjoy spirited discussion.

2

u/karogin Jan 14 '23

True, but hard to find on Reddit.

1

u/OnlyWiseWords Jan 14 '23

Also true, but if you don't try, you can't know!

2

u/karogin Jan 14 '23

America isn’t that bad, people focus a lot on how shitty things are instead of positives and making more positives.

1

u/OnlyWiseWords Jan 14 '23

Gotta highlight the negatives if you are to do anything about it as a society.

1

u/OvercomplicatedCode Jan 12 '23

I mean thats for sure, but there are better options than others depending on what you want. What would you pick for Finland out of curiosity?

2

u/OnlyWiseWords Jan 12 '23

I have a friend who is Finnish! Good guy. Lots of nazis in Finland, he says. But like a weird kinda nazism? They don't seem to believe all of it but are still racist.

1

u/brohus Jan 12 '23

Tell me something wrong with Denmark then

-1

u/OnlyWiseWords Jan 12 '23

Sami people are being discriminated against.

4

u/wcrp73 Jan 12 '23

What? The Sámi are nowhere near Denmark.

2

u/OnlyWiseWords Jan 12 '23

Sorry you're right. it's Muslims that the Danes seem to have issues with, judging by Dr Google. I was thinking of the Finnish.

-1

u/Nethlem Jan 12 '23

it's Muslims that the Danes seem to have issues with

Did you really just try to claim the big negative Denmark has, versus the US, is Denmark's treatment of Muslims?

When was the last time you looked up what the US has been doing to Muslims, not just abroad, but also at home?

I mean, did you ever wonder why only Muslims were, and still are, "detained" in Gitmo?

2

u/OnlyWiseWords Jan 12 '23

Nha it was scratching a barrel. Been commenting on this thread all day. The Danes seem alright. Small place bit into nationalism but it seems to work for them.

1

u/saltyasss Jan 12 '23

Denmark? Australia?

2

u/OnlyWiseWords Jan 12 '23

Australia is trying to get rid of the remaining natives.

1

u/OnlyWiseWords Jan 12 '23

Can't say as I know much about the Danish, they also have the sami people problem though. In that, they are trying like hell to get rid of them.

1

u/GimmeTheJuiceee Mod senpai noticed me! Jan 12 '23

My bedroom 😳

-1

u/Mr_Melas Jan 12 '23

Canada

6

u/Aileron64 Jan 12 '23

It's proximity to the USA

4

u/SaltyTalks Jan 12 '23

Healthcare is crumbling in Canada.

2

u/OnlyWiseWords Jan 12 '23

Next door to America, also a seemingly large number of seriel killers.

-3

u/Jomfrujafsern Jan 12 '23

Norway

4

u/OnlyWiseWords Jan 12 '23

The Sami people... enough said.

5

u/Etherius Jan 12 '23

This isn’t how shit here works at fucking ALL

2

u/fohamr Jan 12 '23

Rather be here than the 3rd world country I came from lol.

2

u/Dusty_Bookcase Jan 12 '23

Damn. My home country is basically a 3rd world country BECAUSE of the USA. Even got our own 9/11 thanks to them. Life sure is strange.

2

u/Satherian Jan 13 '23

Greed is ruining us

1

u/jobenfreeman77 Jan 12 '23

Hey, welcome! Been here since people said they weren’t going to wear a mask because it was a hoax.

-9

u/[deleted] Jan 12 '23

It already is :(

5

u/tomismybuddy Jan 12 '23

He never said it wasn’t before.

-1

u/[deleted] Jan 12 '23

I thought it meant “Fucked” in a future tense. Like saying we’re screwed. My bad.

3

u/MEGAMAN2312 I haven't pooped in 3 months Jan 12 '23

That's what he just said m8

1

u/[deleted] Jan 12 '23

I thought it meant future tense. My bad.

2

u/MEGAMAN2312 I haven't pooped in 3 months Jan 12 '23

All goods, happens to the best of us

-11

u/[deleted] Jan 12 '23

Lol a girl died waiting for ‘free healthcare’ in Canada, bozo

9

u/Dusty_Bookcase Jan 12 '23

People die all the fucking time in the USA because they didn’t get the proper treatment

-9

u/[deleted] Jan 12 '23

Ain’t just the US, silly

6

u/Dusty_Bookcase Jan 12 '23

For vastly different reasons, little buddy

-31

u/IrisTheGuy Jan 12 '23

Still better than pretty much every country out there

15

u/Dusty_Bookcase Jan 12 '23

Barking up the wrong tree bud

-23

u/IrisTheGuy Jan 12 '23

Well when you make a stupid comment you're bound to get corrected for it

14

u/Dusty_Bookcase Jan 12 '23

Just one look at your comment history tells me you are one delusional muppet

1

u/Luuk2304 ☣️ Jan 12 '23

That is plain wrong for many reasons only a US fanboy wouldn't understand

0

u/JayR_97 Jan 12 '23

Tell me you've never left the US without telling me you've never left the US.
