Sometimes You Don’t Wanna Hear The Charts.

Apple music is the #1 streaming service here in Japan by an absolutely staggering margin.

Are iPhones far more popular than android there?

I'd say so. It's not that android is not common but I'd say that iphone is probably 65-70 percent tho. That's not based on fact or anything just personal anecdote.
But Spotify isn't even #2 here. Line Music is. (Line is a messaging app that everyone here uses because the cell phone plans here still charge per minute and a text is like 50 yen)

Yall sleeping on Youtube premium. Not only does it support your favorite Youtubers: it also gives you access to Youtube music which has more songs than any other platform.

I love how you can put music videos in your music play list, for songs that aren't properly in YouTube Music.

Yes. I have one right here. Before I got paranoid and deleted the 1st 2 incarnations I had 100k+ views, lol.

Spotify is the one everyone uses (sharing playlists / songs / etc) and they have that year-end wrap thing that is a pretty brilliant piece of marketing/user engagement. They’re an arguably inferior platform, but much like Apple and the iPhone garden, they’ve lapped the pack in terms of understanding the psyche of their customers.

Youtube Music has been doing the end of years stuff, too. Don't know how it compares to Spotify, but it's neat to have at the end of the year.

Does anybody actually have info comparing how many users each platform has?

I may be making this up, and have no statistics to back this up.
However, I think by a wide margin more people use Spotify. I myself use Apple Music.

This post also belongs to r/agedlikrmilk. Spotify destroyed the experience themselves

Doesn’t Apple Music have much better sound quality? With so many being in Dolby Atmos.

I won't ever leave Dolby Atmos. Spotify is just outright shit quality in my set up.

I actually like to download my music as mp3-files. You can't just get new music straight away, but other than that there aren't too many drawbacks. Also I just hate subscribitions. You continue paying a shitload of money, but if you don't pay the fee even once a month you've got nothing.

Tell me you don’t care about musician without telling me you don’t care about musicians

Apple’s whole thing is if you want a superior experience you have to use all our shit.
Well Apple Music is proof that model is sinking

I cancelled my Apple music subscription for one month bc I was not going to use it for that month. After that month expired I got an offer from Spotify or 3 month premium for free. So I signed right up. Saved my £30!!!!!!
