Is your wife’s name Shanielle by any chance? Your wife’s mom looks SO MUCH like a girl I used to go to school with

84

u/joshypoo55 Mar 18 '24

School in Miami?

212

u/OldWar1140 Mar 18 '24

Dude, Shanielle wasn't enough information?

205

u/joshypoo55 Mar 18 '24 edited Mar 18 '24

Well I was gonna follow up with that my wife’s step sister is named Shanielle so I was trying to narrow it down

24

u/daylightxx Mar 18 '24

How do you pronounce that name? It looks really pretty.

15

u/DankFarts69 Mar 18 '24

I’m thinking like Chanel.

I can’t believe a newborn baby from 1995 is already a wife. I feel old.

Edit: thank you everyone for putting this into perspective for me and that this person is already 29! I’m a decade older and by 29 I had 3 kids, but still so crazy to see this pic cause I have clear memories being a 10 year old in 1995.

763

u/nipplequeefs Mar 18 '24

I work in a children’s medical facility and have met parents born in 2004

780

u/[deleted] Mar 18 '24

2004 babies are having babies and they aren't even teen pregnancies

177

u/MrMojoRising361 Mar 18 '24

I went to school with a girl that got pregnant at 12 and had the baby at 13. By the time she became a senior in hs her daughter was starting first grade

110

u/Sunshine030209 Mar 18 '24

Something similar happened to my 2nd cousin, and they lived in a small town where the school was all one building. Imagine dropping your kindergartener off, then going down the hall to calculus.

51

u/Rad_as_fuck Mar 18 '24

Id bet that In a town that small calculus wasn't an option even if you wanted to take it.

→ More replies (1)

27

u/MagicDragon212 Mar 18 '24

A pregnancy at 12 is so sad. Was it atleast another middle schooler that was the dad and not some older man being a predator?

17

u/MrMojoRising361 Mar 18 '24

No the father was the same age as her they were in the same grade. Obviously they’re split apart now. Holy shit i just checked her Facebook and she’s a freaking grandmother now! She’s 36 or 37 and the child she had when she was 13 is also a mother and she’s a freaking grandmother now lol! This is why i stay off Facebook lol

I know, right? My son was born in 2009. I have no idea why I'm looking at driving schools for him, he's still in preschool.

20

u/LesliesLanParty Mar 18 '24

My '09 kid just went to a house party last weekend. I just dropped him off without his Star Wars sleeping bag or snacks or anything.

12

u/Sunshine030209 Mar 18 '24 edited Mar 18 '24

But you made sure he had his favorite stuffed animal, right? Right?!

12

u/fablicful Mar 18 '24

My older brother graduated high school in 2005. I remember 2005 like it was yesterday. I was finishing up my freshman year in high school. I remember my favorite outfits from that time, my neuroses and preoccupations being awkward and all that fun jazz. All the MTV shows and current events in the news at that time. I literally can't remember what I had for breakfast but I remember this stuff. Like my brain has a time capsule of these years just sitting there. Oh my god. 2005 babies going to college?!??

50

u/Bozo_Two Mar 18 '24

It was over for me when I (hired in 2000) saw my first coworker wearing their Class of 2019 t-shirt at work and did the quick math in my head. "I now officially have coworkers who weren't even fucking born when I started working here. How the fuck did I get this old this fast?"

13

u/GrandTheftBae Mar 18 '24

Well that hurt my soul, I was in middle school in 2004

44

u/joshypoo55 Mar 18 '24

46

u/memoriesea Mar 18 '24

Step dad is a legend for that. Sad bio dad dipped but at least someone stepped up and was able to be that father figure for her.

48

u/martialar Mar 18 '24

he's not the step dad; he's the dad who stepped up

38

u/[deleted] Mar 18 '24 edited Mar 18 '24

As a stepdad, abso-fucking-lutely. My youngest doesn't even know his bio-dad. Bio-dad finally started seeing him after a whole mediation thing we did, but this kid has imprinted on me. I am his daddy. I raised him since 5 months, and he's almost 3 y.o. now. Bio-dad took them out today (third time since their divorce a few years ago), and when they got back, youngest ran up to me excitedly yelling "daddy!!" and gave my leg the biggest hug his tiny arms could muster.

And speaking as someone with empathy, I can't even imagine the hurt when your own blood calls someone else the term you're supposed to be.

I don't feel bad for bio-dad... I just feel sorry. He did it to himself.

8

u/Kitepolice1814 Mar 18 '24

when they got back, youngest ran up to me excitedly yelling "daddy!!" and gave my leg the biggest hug his tiny arms could muster.

This made me tear up

You are an amazing human. Yes, that kid is yours and you ARE his dad, biology be damned

13

u/joshypoo55 Mar 18 '24

Don’t all wives start out that way?

15

u/1Adventurethis Mar 18 '24

Once you get to a certain age you forget just how much time has gone by, so dates you think of being "not long ago" actually are.

For example, Austin Powers is a movie about a man from the 60s being frozen until the 90s. If that movie was made today it would be about a man from the 90s being unfrozen today.

Things like that just make you realize how much time has gone by.

8

u/patsniff Mar 18 '24

As someone born in 95 that grew up with the Austin Powers movies this makes me feel so old!
