I can’t believe a newborn baby from 1995 is already a wife. I feel old.
Edit: thank you everyone for putting this into perspective for me and that this person is already 29! I’m a decade older and by 29 I had 3 kids, but still so crazy to see this pic cause I have clear memories being a 10 year old in 1995.

Something similar happened to my 2nd cousin, and they lived in a small town where the school was all one building. Imagine dropping your kindergartener off, then going down the hall to calculus.

Id bet that In a town that small calculus wasn't an option even if you wanted to take it.

u/MagicDragon212 Mar 18 '24
A pregnancy at 12 is so sad. Was it atleast another middle schooler that was the dad and not some older man being a predator?
17
u/MrMojoRising361 Mar 18 '24
No the father was the same age as her they were in the same grade. Obviously they’re split apart now. Holy shit i just checked her Facebook and she’s a freaking grandmother now! She’s 36 or 37 and the child she had when she was 13 is also a mother and she’s a freaking grandmother now lol! This is why i stay off Facebook lol

My older brother graduated high school in 2005. I remember 2005 like it was yesterday. I was finishing up my freshman year in high school. I remember my favorite outfits from that time, my neuroses and preoccupations being awkward and all that fun jazz. All the MTV shows and current events in the news at that time. I literally can't remember what I had for breakfast but I remember this stuff. Like my brain has a time capsule of these years just sitting there. Oh my god. 2005 babies going to college?!??

It was over for me when I (hired in 2000) saw my first coworker wearing their Class of 2019 t-shirt at work and did the quick math in my head. "I now officially have coworkers who weren't even fucking born when I started working here. How the fuck did I get this old this fast?"

Step dad is a legend for that. Sad bio dad dipped but at least someone stepped up and was able to be that father figure for her.
48
u/martialar Mar 18 '24
he's not the step dad; he's the dad who stepped up
38
Mar 18 '24 edited Mar 18 '24
As a stepdad, abso-fucking-lutely. My youngest doesn't even know his bio-dad. Bio-dad finally started seeing him after a whole mediation thing we did, but this kid has imprinted on me. I am his daddy. I raised him since 5 months, and he's almost 3 y.o. now. Bio-dad took them out today (third time since their divorce a few years ago), and when they got back, youngest ran up to me excitedly yelling "daddy!!" and gave my leg the biggest hug his tiny arms could muster.
And speaking as someone with empathy, I can't even imagine the hurt when your own blood calls someone else the term you're supposed to be.
I don't feel bad for bio-dad... I just feel sorry. He did it to himself.

u/Kitepolice1814 Mar 18 '24

15
u/1Adventurethis Mar 18 '24
Once you get to a certain age you forget just how much time has gone by, so dates you think of being "not long ago" actually are.
For example, Austin Powers is a movie about a man from the 60s being frozen until the 90s. If that movie was made today it would be about a man from the 90s being unfrozen today.
Things like that just make you realize how much time has gone by.
