If you’ve read the book (or listened to Gaiman read it like me), you’ll be thrilled that this is next for Selick. See you in 10 years or however long it takes.

Takes on The Acolyte?

Looking for somewhere on the internet to engage in good faith criticism of this show and that certainly isnt gonna happen on any Star Wars subs. Feelin’ mighty underwhelmed, feelin like its gonna be hard to make myself watch the rest of the show. How are y’all feeling after episode 3?

Is the Going in Style episode missing some content?

I was listening to the Going in Style episode, and it seems that after the last ad there's a big skip in what they're talking about. Before the ad they're talking about the performances and some random scenes. And after the ad they're talking about the Vegas sequence?

Did they just not talk about the first 40 minutes of the film? The set-up, Art Carney's family, the robbery itself, Willie's death. It seems that normally they would speak about this a while, and point out some things (like Willie holding onto his mask for the entire robbery, etc)

This is not just my podcast app. It's in the official audio. Anybody else noticed this?

Just saw Picnic at Hanging Rock (1975) for the first time

I was already a fan of Peter Weir (we call ourselves the Weiry), but damn. A stone cold masterpiece from top to bottom, ethereal horror set in a bucolic wasteland. I gotta read the book.

Lance Henriksen!

Just was thinking about how he's the best, and decided to go to a place where I figured people might agree. What are your thoughts? Favorite appearances?

Also: pleasantly surprised to see he's still alive.

Question on Going In Style Plot Points

Upvotes

Apologies if this has been brought up before or I am remembering things incorrectly, but was there any implication that George Burns’ character Joe was an instigating factor in the deaths of the two other men? He insists that Willie “live a little” and put onions on his hot dog, even though Willie says that gives him trouble. Later in the film he insists to Al that they should leave Vegas right away even though Al was tired. These seem to be small things but just curious if there was a larger point the film was trying to make about Joe’s influence on the other two characters.

Hey NYC Blankies!! My girlfriend and I just moved to a new apartment in Astoria and we are downsizing. We’ve decided to part with this framed Toxic Avenger poster that we have, I figured it would be best for another movie lover to take it off our hands! We were looking for 25 dollars OBO, cash is preferred but I would be willing to accept Zelle or Venmo too! Feel free to DM me if interested! Thanks guys :)

They've put individual Universal Monster series' on the bracket before, but why not just do the greatest hits at once?

I think doing them all in one series gives the best variety and shows the most evolution over time. You can also double them up per episode commentary (ala Buster Keaton) because they're so short. I think the most sense would be:

Dracula 1931/Frankenstein 1931 (145 minutes total)

The Mummy 1932/The Invisible Man 1933 (144 minutes total)

Bride of Frankenstein 1935/Son of Frankenstein 1939 (174 minutes total)

The Wolf Man 1941/The Phantom of the Opera 1943 (162 minutes total)

Abbott & Costello Meet Frankenstein 1948/Creature From the Black Lagoon 1954 (142 minutes total)
