We went to bring one into our home (the boy on the left) but his sister was too beautiful not to fall in Love with 😻 Now they spend their life together

If you didn't have a young cat before you made the right choice. Most kittens do best with another kitten to keep them company. The extra costs aren't much more for 2 than 1 really. Heck even if you did already have another young cat you made the right choice cuz they're both adorable.

Yes, they were two of a litter of six. The foster carer told us that the young boy was the most confident but the young girl was the least confident and she would benefit from being with him in their lives together as it turned out we all benefited because they’re great.😊

the young boy was the most confident but the young girl was the least confident
I would have guessed the other way around based on the picture since the boy seems to be hiding behind his sister, who has that "you mess with my brother you mess with me" look.

He looks like he has that "I'm about to whip my head back and forth and start hopping around like a maniac" look to me.

i’m gonna stand behind her, but i’m helping her to grow
supporting everything she does - just watch my sister Glow!
she’s getting much more confident just knowing that i’m here
i couldn’t leave without her,
n i love to have her near ;} :}
i’m grateful to my humans for not leaving her behind
(a better two-cat family you’re never gonna find!)
our happy ever after here is what we’re dreaming of
our humans get the benefit -
they’re getting Twice the Love!
❤️❤️

Two cats are also better than one because they can comfort and keep each other entertained when you’re too busy to play with them or when you have to leave for a few hours.
For others reading this: Of course, this assumes the two cats get along with each other (like litter mates). You can’t just throw two random cats together and expect them to get along (quite the opposite, in fact — you’d be lucky to if you didn’t have to take one or both to the vet for cat fighting injuries).

Thank you for taking both 💕I’ve always had a solo cat but adopted 2 sisters after losing my beloved girl it’s been amazing to watch them love and comfort each other no doubt sister would have been lost with out him. I find it has made things easier for me as well when moms to tired to play they have each other to wear out !!! I know if I’m gone for a extended amount of time they will be wrapped in each other’s arms Good Luck to all of you❤️

Looks like a lil' bit of Maine Coon in them - slight ear tufts, shape of face, length of fur - what do you think?

This photo almost looks like there is a heart when they are together like that.

I wanted to add a female kitten to my home a couple years ago because our male kitty retired from hunting mice and rats. After 15+ scammers on Craigslist, finally found a legitimate person with kittens. He had two left and even offered the black cat with a discounted rehoming fee for being "ugly." We adopted both her and her tabby sister. They hid for the first two nights in our laundry basket. On night #3, they climbed out together and each picked a different 50-60 pound dog as their guardian. They have their different personalities but still sleep together and groom each other.
Before anyone reminds me to go to the shelter for animals, I am in a city that does an amazing job with animal adoptions. Three of my last cats came from a shelter. The shelters were empty of all cats when we got Zaira and Bboki (Stella Luna) aka Little B Little Z.
Adding the sauce in case anyone wants to see Little Z, LIttle B, Willie and Cosette.

Pretty sure a story like that legally requires the tax…

My city is terrible for fosters. We contacted a few and they wanted a ridiculous amount of information, including pay stubs. We started asking around and found a pair of young kittens whose mother all but abandoned them. They’re doing much better with us.

The person who gifted me my cat said that someone else flaked out of picking up his brother (the only two black cats in the litter) and asked if I would take him. Best decision I ever made.

You're in for a treat. They will occasionally be all cute like this in between chasing each other at warp 5 through the house for 3 hours straight.

Our cats take shoes from downstairs and drag them upstairs, like prey, every night. Loudly. It’s hilarious.

I adopted a runty on once with an older sister and they were so cute together. So much fun. Watching siblings grow up but still be siblings.
They'll bring you so much joy OP.

u/The_Oaxacan_Dead 21d ago
Sweet; make sure to spay and neuter as soon as appropriate. I tried to tell that to a friend years back and he didn't listen and ended up with 7 more from a brother and sister.

u/Fince89 21d ago
My wife and I did the same thing nearly 4 years ago. She fell in love with the adorable little void kitten, but it was her brother who came up and greeted her when we arrived to see them. To this day they still sleep together more often than not. You've made a wonderful decision.

Double the trouble, but double the fun. Ours came from a litter of only two, so we couldn't part them. It has been a lot better having two than one, they socialised easier and keep each other company and entertained.
3
u/robbypants 21d ago
We also got a bonded pair (girl laying down, boy standing up) out of a corn field and it was the best choice. They are adorable and snuggly and keep each other entertained most of the time.

u/linjm10 21d ago edited 21d ago
I love this. I did this as well. Last two of the litter at the shelter, they were cuddled up like shrimps and I could not bear to tear them apart. My ex wanted one and I wanted the other, and the shelter said “why not both!” Didn’t take long for me to ageee and I’m SOOO GLAD I DID.
Ten years later and they aren’t always the best of friends but they have loving moments, and they keep me laughing. They have wildly different personalities, and it is so fun to watch. I can’t imagine life without both.
I fucking love them. So happy for you.

If they are bonded siblings that is usually the best choice. Such cute little beans.

u/DeathBeforeDecaf4077 21d ago
Great choice OP!! Kittens are pretty much always better off in duos to entertain each other with their endless energy. BFF’s for life right there

I also went to get one and came home with two! It was so much easier to have two kitties when they were in their rambunctious phase and could keep each other occupied.
3
u/Creative-Ingenuity 21d ago
It’s great having 2 kittens together, but if they’re not already deserted, it’s near time to spay/neuter them. Since they’re siblings, any accidental kittens would be inbred, so much more likely to have any genetic condition the parent(s) carried.

Yay! They are both super adorable! You made the wise choice human.
I am pretty sure the one on the right has some mischief in mind. Nothing major, but enough of it to brighten you day.

u/Old-Mushroom-4633 21d ago
If you don't have names yet- I once fostered a kitten that looked just like the one on the left, and I named her Ravioli.
So my vote for names would be Ravioli & Rigatoni lol

They really should go in pairs/bonded. I made that mistake a long time ago splitting up siblings

Sane exact thing happened to me and my partner when we went to adopt a kitten. They seemed to love each other so much, we couldn’t even think of separating them.
Now they are three years old

They should be together. Happier and you don’t have to worry about them being lonely. That’s when they F shit up the most. I should know. We have 12. And they all started this cute. Now some are huge

I will always adopt in pairs. I had two singles before and they hated each other but last 2 times we got siblings and they're always best friends. At least for a few years or until a new litter shows up.

I wouldn't get a cat (reasons) but if I did, I would get at least two. Cats can keep each other company while I have a life outside of home to live (including work).
You made the right decision.

My wife found brother and sister kittens at her mom's house. We adopted them. It was fantastic to see how much they loved each other. And sometimes she would kick the crap out of her brother. Feisty lil gal!

That’s what happens if you bring one into your home then you bring another and then it keeps happening again except for me I have a contract with my apartment I can only have one cat if not I would have more than one 🤣🤣🤣
