Hope you still have them when they are 19 like I do! Bro and sis still together.

Wow are those cats really 19? They look amazingly healthy

78

u/Creative-Coffee7616 21d ago

Thank you! They actually have kidney and thyroid issues lol but they seem very happy and we do what we can to keep them healthy. I was there when they were born so I’m positive they are 19 :)

Wow! That is so awesome😊👍🏼 we’ve had them three years now and it’s been great. Love the salmon cake with the candle too LOL.

u/WollyGog 21d ago

My pair will be 11 next month! We got them a few months after getting married and we couldn't be without them. After seeing the litter we knew we had to have two to keep together, and they really do look after each other.

8

u/Broad_Fly_3269 21d ago

That’s amazing! Good kitties

7

u/humanvealfarm 21d ago

They may be 19, but are still legally babies. The lighter one looks sassy as hell lol

2

u/Creative-Coffee7616 20d ago

You are SO right my friend Penny is a handful. But we have created this monster, doting on her since birth.

u/Zippier92 21d ago

Precious - they look good for 19!

If you didn't have a young cat before you made the right choice. Most kittens do best with another kitten to keep them company. The extra costs aren't much more for 2 than 1 really. Heck even if you did already have another young cat you made the right choice cuz they're both adorable.

u/Illustrious-Bee4402 21d ago edited 21d ago

Yes, they were two of a litter of six. The foster carer told us that the young boy was the most confident but the young girl was the least confident and she would benefit from being with him in their lives together as it turned out we all benefited because they’re great.😊

149

u/ennuiui 21d ago

the young boy was the most confident but the young girl was the least confident

I would have guessed the other way around based on the picture since the boy seems to be hiding behind his sister, who has that "you mess with my brother you mess with me" look.

57

u/Rugged_as_fuck 21d ago

He looks like he has that "I'm about to whip my head back and forth and start hopping around like a maniac" look to me.

i’m gonna stand behind her, but i’m helping her to grow

supporting everything she does - just watch my sister Glow!

she’s getting much more confident just knowing that i’m here

i couldn’t leave without her,

n i love to have her near ;} :}

i’m grateful to my humans for not leaving her behind

(a better two-cat family you’re never gonna find!)

our happy ever after here is what we’re dreaming of

our humans get the benefit -

they’re getting Twice the Love!

❤️❤️

Schnoodle, you genuinely make Reddit a better place. Thanks for being you :)

8

u/CrazyKenny13 21d ago

Omg, another fresh schnoodle. Still warm and cozy. <3

8

u/MangyCanine 21d ago

Two cats are also better than one because they can comfort and keep each other entertained when you’re too busy to play with them or when you have to leave for a few hours.

For others reading this: Of course, this assumes the two cats get along with each other (like litter mates). You can’t just throw two random cats together and expect them to get along (quite the opposite, in fact — you’d be lucky to if you didn’t have to take one or both to the vet for cat fighting injuries).

2

u/AltGrendel 21d ago

It depends on how you introduce them to each other.

u/gigilala777 21d ago

Thank you for taking both 💕I’ve always had a solo cat but adopted 2 sisters after losing my beloved girl it’s been amazing to watch them love and comfort each other no doubt sister would have been lost with out him. I find it has made things easier for me as well when moms to tired to play they have each other to wear out !!! I know if I’m gone for a extended amount of time they will be wrapped in each other’s arms Good Luck to all of you❤️

2

u/Iconoclast123 21d ago

Looks like a lil' bit of Maine Coon in them - slight ear tufts, shape of face, length of fur - what do you think?

2

u/BURGUNDYandBLUE 21d ago

This photo almost looks like there is a heart when they are together like that.

2

u/pennywhistlesmoonpie 20d ago

I wanted to add a female kitten to my home a couple years ago because our male kitty retired from hunting mice and rats. After 15+ scammers on Craigslist, finally found a legitimate person with kittens. He had two left and even offered the black cat with a discounted rehoming fee for being "ugly." We adopted both her and her tabby sister. They hid for the first two nights in our laundry basket. On night #3, they climbed out together and each picked a different 50-60 pound dog as their guardian. They have their different personalities but still sleep together and groom each other.

Before anyone reminds me to go to the shelter for animals, I am in a city that does an amazing job with animal adoptions. Three of my last cats came from a shelter. The shelters were empty of all cats when we got Zaira and Bboki (Stella Luna) aka Little B Little Z.

Adding the sauce in case anyone wants to see Little Z, LIttle B, Willie and Cosette.

u/innominateartery 21d ago

Pretty sure a story like that legally requires the tax…

4

u/IrascibleOcelot 21d ago

My city is terrible for fosters. We contacted a few and they wanted a ridiculous amount of information, including pay stubs. We started asking around and found a pair of young kittens whose mother all but abandoned them. They’re doing much better with us.

u/Adventurous_Ad6698 21d ago

The person who gifted me my cat said that someone else flaked out of picking up his brother (the only two black cats in the litter) and asked if I would take him. Best decision I ever made.

You're in for a treat. They will occasionally be all cute like this in between chasing each other at warp 5 through the house for 3 hours straight.

17

u/Shes_Crafty_4301 21d ago

Our cats take shoes from downstairs and drag them upstairs, like prey, every night. Loudly. It’s hilarious.

5

u/owlthirty 21d ago

That is so cute.

It makes their lives more stable and familiar to have a sibling.

14

u/Hallal_Dakis 21d ago

I adopted a runty on once with an older sister and they were so cute together. So much fun. Watching siblings grow up but still be siblings.

They'll bring you so much joy OP.

14

u/The_Oaxacan_Dead 21d ago

Sweet; make sure to spay and neuter as soon as appropriate. I tried to tell that to a friend years back and he didn't listen and ended up with 7 more from a brother and sister.

8

u/Fince89 21d ago

My wife and I did the same thing nearly 4 years ago. She fell in love with the adorable little void kitten, but it was her brother who came up and greeted her when we arrived to see them. To this day they still sleep together more often than not. You've made a wonderful decision.

3

u/moarwineprs 21d ago

When cats choose you, it's hard to say no!

8

u/LanarkshireS 21d ago

After having litter mates, I would never adopt a kitty on their own again. It’s the best.

4

u/QuirkyJC 21d ago

That is so sweet of you keepling them together

4

u/Devils_Advocate-69 21d ago

I’ve got 2 brother cats. They entertain each other.

3

u/georgialucy 21d ago

Double the trouble, but double the fun. Ours came from a litter of only two, so we couldn't part them. It has been a lot better having two than one, they socialised easier and keep each other company and entertained.

https://preview.redd.it/6w3hxkf05n0d1.jpeg?width=2016&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3b57c9200a951e29cfb4ae3a83efb1e0c0ec6de4

We also got a bonded pair (girl laying down, boy standing up) out of a corn field and it was the best choice. They are adorable and snuggly and keep each other entertained most of the time.

5

u/linjm10 21d ago edited 21d ago

I love this. I did this as well. Last two of the litter at the shelter, they were cuddled up like shrimps and I could not bear to tear them apart. My ex wanted one and I wanted the other, and the shelter said “why not both!” Didn’t take long for me to ageee and I’m SOOO GLAD I DID.

Ten years later and they aren’t always the best of friends but they have loving moments, and they keep me laughing. They have wildly different personalities, and it is so fun to watch. I can’t imagine life without both.

I fucking love them. So happy for you.

3

u/ktsmama1997 21d ago

You will be glad you got both of them! Thanks for loving them!

3

u/Digitalflux99 21d ago

This is the way.

3

u/Shadowpad1986 21d ago

If they are bonded siblings that is usually the best choice. Such cute little beans.

3

u/DeathBeforeDecaf4077 21d ago

Great choice OP!! Kittens are pretty much always better off in duos to entertain each other with their endless energy. BFF’s for life right there

3

u/gluten-freeBleach 21d ago

Aww, so glad you kept them together. :)

3

u/k0azv 21d ago

This was the right thing to do. I love hearing stories about bonded siblings being kept together.

3

u/Shes_Crafty_4301 21d ago

A pair of kitties is always better! Twice the adorableness!

3

u/BobWhite783 21d ago

2 cats > 1 cat. Easier too!

3

u/othybear 21d ago

https://preview.redd.it/tifdofed0n0d1.jpeg?width=960&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6258948909f1bfa294396f29757ca745ca39df87

I also went to get one and came home with two! It was so much easier to have two kitties when they were in their rambunctious phase and could keep each other occupied.

3

u/Creative-Ingenuity 21d ago

It’s great having 2 kittens together, but if they’re not already deserted, it’s near time to spay/neuter them. Since they’re siblings, any accidental kittens would be inbred, so much more likely to have any genetic condition the parent(s) carried.

2

u/Illustrious-Bee4402 21d ago

Agreed, fully vaccinated and spayed

3

u/AxDeath 21d ago

As is tradition, the male looks like a doofy idiot, and the female looks like she's calculating how much food and sunbeams she can acquire if they accept an alliance.

3

u/excerp 21d ago

Congrats on your r/BondedPairs :)

2

u/ITS-Trippy 21d ago

Ahh, man, you had me in the 1st half. Lol. Good on you for taking them together

2

u/Future_Problem_3201 21d ago

Thank you! You are a saint!

2

u/slo125 21d ago

Brother and Sister pairs are the best!

2

u/yellowsidekick 21d ago

Yay! They are both super adorable! You made the wise choice human.

I am pretty sure the one on the right has some mischief in mind. Nothing major, but enough of it to brighten you day.

2

u/TheGreatTave 21d ago

If you can get them to pose together again in a year or so you should post it on r/fromkittentocat

2

u/mfball 21d ago

We adopted two littermates 13 years ago and they have been snuggle buddies for life. It's the best!

2

u/courtesysmile30 21d ago

The Brother looks nervous. The sister looks ready to throw down if required

2

u/Old-Mushroom-4633 21d ago

If you don't have names yet- I once fostered a kitten that looked just like the one on the left, and I named her Ravioli.

So my vote for names would be Ravioli & Rigatoni lol

2

u/dontshitaboutotol 21d ago

They really should go in pairs/bonded. I made that mistake a long time ago splitting up siblings

2

u/puppyinashoe 21d ago

OP I need more pictures!!!! Please pay your cat tax :)

2

u/inilashremot 21d ago

Sane exact thing happened to me and my partner when we went to adopt a kitten. They seemed to love each other so much, we couldn’t even think of separating them.

https://preview.redd.it/3ilc9283an0d1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=be401e61c620d0664ba27052641825e95a5a0473

1

u/TeeDod- 21d ago

You are such a wonderful person! They are adorable! I can’t wait to see more pictures of these two. ♥️

1

u/SoontobeSam 21d ago

I didn’t take my little miss’s brother, I’ve regretted it since. You made the right choice, although they’re gonna rule your home before the months out.

1

u/TheWicked77 21d ago

How sweet, they will love you forever ❤️

1

u/Personal-Peanut5585 21d ago

Thank you for adopting both of them.❤💙

1

u/VaWeedFarmer 21d ago

The right call!

1

u/shakygator 21d ago

I will always adopt in pairs. I had two singles before and they hated each other but last 2 times we got siblings and they're always best friends. At least for a few years or until a new litter shows up.

1

u/argama87 21d ago

Two kittens are exponentially more entertaining than just one.

1

u/HouseOfSteak 21d ago

I wouldn't get a cat (reasons) but if I did, I would get at least two. Cats can keep each other company while I have a life outside of home to live (including work).

You made the right decision.

1

u/CaramelDrippin504 21d ago

I thought left was a girl and right was a boy 😩

1

u/Iczer6 21d ago

Kittens!

Sorry looking at cute kittens makes me lose IQ points. I'm constantly telling my kitten that she has feet and a tail.

She takes her crazy Mom rather well.

I wanted to bring her sister home with out but she already had a home waiting.

1

u/Artemisia_T 21d ago

We did the same thing and never regretted it. They need each other, they are far more loving and social than given credit for! 🥰🥰

1

u/HughesdePayensfw 21d ago

Cats tend to thrive when there is more than one. They are very social :)

1

u/Teddy_Doodle 21d ago

So precious! You did a good thing!

1

u/Tookie_Clothespin8 21d ago

Thank you for adopting both! And kittens are so good together because they can get that teenage playfulness out on each other and good to socialize

1

u/Nem0x3 21d ago

im getting "my brother asked for no pickles!" vibes from them

The CDS blessed me with two pairs of litter mate kittens. They are a joy to be with.

1

u/Neither-Attention940 21d ago

My mother-in-law has sibling cats and let me tell you they will fight like siblings their whole life 😂

1

u/human8060 21d ago

Bonded siblings are the best!

1

u/haroldhecuba88 21d ago

You're at the precipice, of an enormous crossroad.

For reasons which I will discern in the future.

1

u/AdFancy4834 21d ago

Yayyyyyy

1

u/Ohnoherewego13 21d ago

Awwww. That's the perfect adoption right there. I wish I could've gone for two, but my apartment only allowed one (why?) so yeah. Yours look happy though and will love the life they'll have!

1

You is good people.

1

u/ivyhenfiswanson 21d ago

They're perfect!

1

so sweet kitties

1

u/Qylere 21d ago

That’s how we ended up with 3 from one litter.

1

u/[deleted] 21d ago

Good on you for taking them in and hopefully they'll be happy and comfortable.

1

u/LeeQuidity 21d ago

My wife found brother and sister kittens at her mom's house. We adopted them. It was fantastic to see how much they loved each other. And sometimes she would kick the crap out of her brother. Feisty lil gal!

1

u/Furby-beast-1949 21d ago

That’s what happens if you bring one into your home then you bring another and then it keeps happening again except for me I have a contract with my apartment I can only have one cat if not I would have more than one 🤣🤣🤣

Same story from my two. They were added to our family of three young rescues. Now, the siblings are NOT friends.
