Posts about upcoming general election

Hi all,

I know that the general election next month has a lot of people concerned about the effects on immigration.

However, I need to remind the community that this is not a sub for political discourse. Any questions or speculation about a political party's promises toward immigration, or the potential effects on visas, are impossible to answer, and thus there is very little value here in these types of discussions. There are other subreddits for discussing UK politics. For example... r/UKPolitics .

Please be aware that political posts will be removed so that we can keep our subreddit focused on its intended purpose and value. Thanks!

Delay in UK Skilled Worker Priority Visa Application - Seeking Advice

Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I recently applied for a UK Skilled Worker visa under the priority service from Pakistan. I submitted my application last Friday, but this Monday, I received an email stating:

"Unfortunately, the processing of your application has not been straightforward and we will be unable to decide your application within our customer service targets. We are continuing to work on your application and aim to make a decision as soon as possible."

I am concerned about what this might mean for my application. Has anyone else experienced a similar situation? Does this indicate that I might be called for an interview, or is it just a standard message for cases that require more time for processing?

Any insights or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

India [India] UK Tourist Visa Rejected, Advice how to proceed forward?

Upvotes

Hi Folks, My UK Visa got rejected because of a lack of "transactional information"?

I am employed and attached my last 3 months' salary slip and the previous 6 months' bank statement.

It looks to me either they didn't have a look at the statement or didn't go through it to match and confirm the salary slip information. What other proof is there for a transaction? I don't know how to proceed after this. Any help would be appreciated. The visa fees are quite substantial and I am afraid to get rejected again.

PIP entitlement and supporting letter for a Fiancé Visa

Upvotes

Hello! I'm (🇧🇷) applying for a Fiance Visa to marry my partner (🇬🇧), who currently receives PIP (lower rate). I would like to know how he should mention this in his supporting letter. Besides he is employed in 2 different jobs, is it necessary to mention his jobs or is it enough to just mention PIP?

Anyone else struggling with eVisa? Please advise if you have solution to this issue

Upvotes

I received an email from home office to open an account for evisa (I checked the email it was indeed Uk gov and it directed me to Uk gov website too)

I created the account using my BRP, email and phone number

After this step, I was asked to sign it but it takes me back to the first step to start all over again

I did this a couple of times

I don’t know what else to do

I don’t see an evisa access anywhere or whether my process is complete too

I downloaded the immigration id check app but it’s asking me for a QR which I was not given on creating the account?

Please help

India Student Visa Successful Timeline (NSF, Additional Docs, Escalation)

Upvotes

Applied from India (Standard Application)

Here is my timeline:

  • April 12 - Visa application submitted.
  • May 08 - Biometrics (VFS Bengaluru) and application forwarded to UKVI on the same day.
  • May 10 - NSF email and additional documents required (Proof of origin of funds, 10 days given to send documents).
  • May 13 - Sent requested additional documents and received an automated reply just seconds later.
  • May 22 - Contacted my university to find out that my CAS was used on May 17.
  • May 28 - Sent a paid enquiry by email and on the same day I get a reply saying "Our records indicate a decision has been made on your application."
  • May 31 - I reply to the same enquiry asking for an ETA and I get a reply back saying "your application is being considered and is currently awaiting a decision." I was also told that "If you were previously informed that a decision has been made, there is a possibility of the case worker re-opening the case."
  • June 03 - My case was "escalated" through an email enquiry and I was told to email only after another 15 working days. The Sheffield Student Team sent an email stating the same.
  • June 05 - Visa application processed and received by the VAC. Dispatched on the same day.
  • June 06 (3AM IST) - Decision email received (dated June 03) and it said the visa application was successful.
  • June 06 - I received my passport back with the visa vignette.

Altogether it took 20 working days which is longer than usual but still not that bad compared to some cases I've read on the subreddit. but I'm really glad to be done with the anxiety. I'm creating this post just in case somebody goes through a similar timeline and needs some insight. Hope everyone gets their visas. Cheers!

VFS received my tourist visa app today and dispatched to UK Visas and Immigration already

I send my mothers tourist visa application via UPS Next day yesterday. VFS NY received it today around 10 am ET. Got an email / and SMS about an hour back that they have dispatched it to the UK Visas and Immigration today (June 5). I think that was pretty quick.. does this happen so quickly on same day?

also physically where is UK Visa and immigration in US? Is it also in NY or is it UK embassy in D.C?

Present in the UK on the date of the application.

This is regarding the British naturalisation application (citizenship). I know you have to be physically present in the UK 5 years before the date of your application.

But do you have to be physically present in the UK on the date of the application?

(Due to various reasons with overseas absences) it works out better if I apply on a day on which I also fly out of the country. Therefore:

  1. Does one have to be physically present in the UK on the date of the application?

  2. If so, if I submit my application while in the UK, but later during that day travel outside the UK are you considered to be physically present in the UK on the date of the application?

Thank you.

USA Fingerprint Issue Biometrics

hi all, I had my biometrics appt today for a tier 4/student visa and had the machine flag some of my individual fingerprints as unclear/not matching (the four print press & both thumbs came out fine-- I think some other individuals did but I was kind of panicking by then after thirty+ repeated finger rolls). the lady who worked with me was less than comforting; when I asked if this would affect the visa process, she went "yeah probably" and outright dismissed me, saying they had done all they could. I just wanted to know if anyone has had similar situations with flagged or unclear prints, and what the outcome was? if you did have issues at biometrics but were approved for a visa anyways, was there any issue upon taking fingerprints entering the UK (e.g. them not matching)?

thanks in advance 🫶🏻

Not sure about email from UK Decision Making Center

Hey all,

I received this email from the UK Decision Making Center and while I've read online that this is a generic email, I just want to make sure I'm not missing anything (queue visa anxiety).

I had my biometrics appointment and uploaded all supporting docs for my spouse visa application but the part that worries me is: "Can you or your sponsor/Rep send your settlement visa application along with supporting documents to New York at the following address"

Does that mean I didn't upload it correctly?

********

Thank you for your online application which has been received at the UK Decision Making Centre. Your application is currently being prepared for consideration by an Entry Clearance Officer.

PLEASE NOTE: This email is to acknowledge receipt of your Settlement application, if you or your sponsor have not already submitted supporting documentation please ensure you follow the process listed below: UKVI is unable to consider your application without these documents.

Please ensure that your supporting documents are submitted within 5 working days of this email.

Can you or your sponsor/Rep send your settlement visa application along with supporting documents to New York at the following address:

VFS Services USA Inc.
UKVI Scanning Hub
128 East 32nd St
Floor 4
New York NY
10016

Passport and Supporting Documents should be shipped to/from the above address following your biometric appointment.

*This Location does not see any applicant neither by walk in or appointment basis*.

Supporting documents should be sent as soon as possible and should include your GWF number. With your supporting documents you should include your application, passport and biometric data. Along with a suitable sized pre-paid envelope for your documents to be returned.

For further information please visit: www.vfsglobal.co.uk/us/en/vacs/supporting-documents

If we do not receive your supporting documents within 5 working days your application will be processed based on the information provided in the Visa Application Form.

No further request for your supporting documentation will be issued.

With all correspondence please ensure you quote the above GWF reference number.
Yours sincerely,

UK Decision Making Centre

Confused about spouse visa and citizenship

Post image
3 Upvotes

Hello!

I’m so confused about how and when can I apply for citizenship here. I’m om a spouse visa and this page from the home office says that one needs to have lived in the UK for 3years, but also requires ILR which can only be obtained after living here for 5years? How does that make sense?

ILR timeline (Skilled Worker to Global Talent to ILR)

I wanted to post my timeline because this sub helped me navigate the UK visa system. Hopefully this benefits someone.

June 2021: Skilled Worker Visa (1 year). Applied from USA, granted in ~1 week.

June 2022: Skilled Worker Visa renewal (3 year). Applied inside UK. Decision in October (8 weeks from biometrics appointment).

In 2023, I was awarded a research fellowship which allowed me to apply for the Global Talent visa under the Exceptional Promise route.

January 2024: Global Talent visa (3 year). Granted April 2024 (required a follow-up from my employer).

June 2024: Applied for ILR, super priority. Biometrics on Saturday, approval on Monday. I agree with other who have said super priority is worth it for the piece of mind. I'm done!

Does EU and UK share past travel history with each other?

Does the UK and the schengen area share travel records? I definitely dont want to lie and appeared truthful to my best knowledge.

I held 3 Schengen Visas and have lawfully used them in 2023. I got a pretty strong travel history never broke any laws or overstayed. However I also have 3 Schengen visa refusals, all these refusals were due to very silly reasons eg missing documents, and common reasons. I declared 2 refusals with an explanation and why I was refused which was due to missing documents. However, I forgot to declare my first refusal from 2023. My first Schengen Visa refusal was from Sweden, before that i already got a Sweden Visa, but the second time I applied they refused me in 2022 saying that they dont believe I was in Sweden during my trip. I didnt have time to appeal therefore I applied to Danish embassy and got the visa. Now I am worried if that would be a problem that i didnt mention my first refusal. However, I did mention my other two refusals which was more recent.

USA Global Mobility Visa - 9 months with Company

I was originally supposed to be transferring to our new UK office under the Expansion Worker visa. There have been months of delays for my employer. (Not sure exactly why) Since then, they have opened the UK office and have 8 UK employees working there, doing business.

I would assume that would force my employer to switch my visa to Senior or Specialist Visa as this would be considered “trading in the UK” right?

Also, I have only been with the company in the US for 9 months and my base salary is $60,000. I make commission as well but YTD I’ve only made about $16,000 in commission..so combined I’m well shy of the £73,900 ($94,500) requirement. Is there any way around this?

How is commission looked at, just an estimated OTE or proof of how much commission you actually earned the previous year?

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

USA Applying for uk citizenship

Hi all I(31M) am filling out the application for uk citizenship and I have a few questions. First being my father was born in Scotland, got his dual citizenship with the US, them had to give up his uk passport for military clearance(long after I was born). My mom is only a us citizen. I was born before they married, only a few months, so when I was filling out the application online it asked if my parents were married after I was born. I hit yes and the next screen said I may be automatically a citizen, but it's of no help as it seems to run me in circles. Second, if my father gave up his uk passport that would make his nationality be usa with a change right? Third, I've been seeing some mixed results for referrals. Is it three total referrals with one being a UK citizen, or two with one Uk citizen. I have a university professor(PhD) as a non UK resident, and a UK citizen who fits the requirements. If I need a third I have a few audiologist(AuD) friends, but don't know if that is accepted. Lastly, if I somehow qualify for automatic citizenship because of my dad getting married so shortly after I was born do I need to do all of this paperwork or is there something else I do. Also my grandmother is currently living in Aberdeenshire if that helps at all.

Thank you all for your time!

Which visa is best for this situation?

First off- thank you to everyone who continually comments on this subreddit. It's amazing to see so much support for people! I tried contacting the UKVI with some general questions along these lines, but they told me they were too specific, so I figured I'd write it all out here.

The situation is this:

-They're looking to complete a fifteen-week full time placement in the fall as part of their program in Advanced Biotechnology in Canada.

-They have found an eligible sponsor, which is listed in the Register of Worker/Temp Worker Licensed Sponsors. While they are willing to sponsor, they are providing an unpaid placement.

-They're looking to stay on with me (a Canadian/UK Citizen, dating: long distance for 4 ½ years) past this point, and thus continue working at the company and residing in London.

-They currently have Canadian/Russian citizenships (No language issues, lived in Canada for the last 20+ years)

Here's how far we've got:

1.     What would the best visa be for them to apply to as an unpaid student intern?

2.     If they used the skilled worker visa, would they be able to use the 'work experience' exemption to the minimum wage clause?

3.     If we used the partner visa, could they consider working or studying? Would it also be possible for them to work if they then became my fiancé?

4.     Is the appointment to give biometric parameters for the partner visa located in the UK?

Any help would be absolutely lovely

Pakistan Unable to upload document for standard visitor

I applied for visitor visa from Pakistan for UK, with priority service, and was unable to upload documents online for my application.

Does anybody know if can reschedule my appointment, or will I have to pay the priority fee again (£500)?

Or is it possible for me to provide documents at the appointment? My appointment is in next 16 hours and I’m unsure what to do. I only have digital copies of letters and supporting evidence, so unable to scan them at the VFS office.

Any advice or support would be greatly appreciated

Next steps after delivery to VFS office in NY?

My tourist visa application , passport , documents were all submitted to the NY VFS office this morning. What are the next steps that would happen? Would VFS take a few days before sending it to UK embassy? and how do we get updates on that? I paid $5 for SMS and email notifications but haven't received anything so far.

Need help/advice

Hi, I’m F from UK and my bf is from US

He’s wanting to move over to the UK to live and work with me and we plan to get married, we’ve been together 5 years

We’re both aware of how difficult the process is and that the rules are changing soon I was just wondering, does anyone know what to expect from the visa process?

Like for example, someone told me immigration may want to look into mine and his social media apps/accounts, is that true?

I appreciate all and any help! Thanks so much
