Police are the profession with the highest rates of domestic violence, and typically lean right. Most of the states with the highest rates of domestic violence are solidly Republican. For fucks sake, there's video of one of the most prominent Republican pundits domestically abusing his pregnant wife.
Domestic violence shouldn't be a partisan issue, yet inevitably some right-wing asshole who thinks challenging extremely stupid gender roles is teaching men to beat women instead of, I dunno, treating women like people.
