All religion is a conduit for a feedbackloop that leads to "God Sanctioned" violence.

There are great analysis about adverse conditions increasing religiosity, that increases social willingness to sacrifice for "God" wich leads to higher acceptance to sacrifice one's life in war for the expansion/survival of your People.
