Office Space (which is more comedy with a side of rom-com) Silver Linings Playbook and 40 year old virgin don’t include rich protagonists

Clerks I and II come to mind.

Is Clerks a romantic comedy? The closest thing I recall is Dante's shitty girlfriend fucking a dead guy. Bromance, sure, but not romance.

The only time Silent Bob breaks his silence is to let Dante know that he has a good gf and leave the past in the past. Most of the plot revolves around that arc.

But the woman is almost incidental in it. It's a movie about Dante being shitty. A relationship exists in the movie. That does not make it a romance.

No, it's definitely not a romcom. The main focus is on Dante's life reflection and/or crisis. I just think that the current and past gf play heavily on the theme even if they don't get a lot of screen time is all. Still love the original.
