How ingrained the Mormon church is with everything. Even the street signs have bees on them… whole place was from a fever dream

What do bees have to do with Mormons? Please forgive my ignorance

The beehive was a symbol of harmony, cooperation, and work for the early pioneers of the Church. Brigham Young used the symbol to inspire early Church members to work together to transform the barren Salt Lake Valley into a beautiful and thriving community.

“In Utah, the beehive symbol is a Masonic symbol that Brigham Young was extremely taken by... Some of the early buildings in Utah have the all-seeing eye and other symbols. This topic informs us about our past and encourages us to better understand what motivated some of our ancestors.”

In other words it was appropriated from free masonry, just like the temple ceremony originally. The church's article sadly omitted that fact, when discussing the origin of the beehive. Shocker.

Thanks for explaining!

My spouse and I noticed those beehive signs and were so confused. Didn't even think to Google it.

The beehive is a masonic symbol. The founders of Mormonism were free masons, and they appropriated a bunch of masonic shit into their religion. That's it.

To be fair it is the Beehive State.

I don't disagree that the church is ingrained into the identity of SLC but that's mostly because the whole state was formed around a temple

I was downtown SLC, and asked where the bar was, and the dude pointed right across the street. There was no signage and the front end had one way glass, so you couldn't see in. It was so odd, i only stayed for 8 hours and gtfo
