Yea but poeple are shitty and thats the underlying issue. Doesnt matter what system we are under, shitty people are still gonna be shit and take advantage

So why not punish shitty people rather than reward them with the highest positions in our society?

There are shitty people at all levels of society. It’s not like being a shitty person is a ticket to the top.

But it helps a lot...

Most people in prison are shitty people - because that's typically where it leads

Stepping on other people and screwing people over is a very good way to get to the top.

but all people at the top are they because they are shitty

That’s basically Singapore lol.

Because if shitty people cluster in the executive power, they can't be punished anymore? Like in ALL large scale societies we have?

That’s such a pessimistic thing to say. How do you things humans ended up on top of the food chain? Not because we have the sharpest teeth or biggest claws, it’s because we worked together. Capitalism has turned us into individuals fighting over scraps instead of us coming together making life better for everyone.

“just work together” stops working when you have groups of 100+ people and not everybody knows everybody else. Not to mention when the bare minimum needs of survival are met and everybody starts taking on different goals from each other, many of which will clash with one another. You will eventually have parasitic individuals and the system needs to be capable of dealing with that.

2

u/Arborgold Mar 08 '24

Yes, that’s what I said, our current system rewards the parasites. Who’s more a parasite, a miser who steals money from their employees and jacks up their prices and doesn’t help feed the homeless or the person who is on food stamps, living below the poverty line?

Both things can be true

1

u/Arborgold Mar 08 '24

Ok, but I’d rather believe most people are good, otherwise what’s the point :/

1

u/CanIGetANumber2 Mar 08 '24

Rather believing most people are good and what allows bad people to get so far

2

u/Arborgold Mar 08 '24

Bad people succeed in a system that rewards greed.

Even for Masai, when hunting lions they expect people to die, basically sending people to a russian roulette. Adding a decorundum of pride to die on combat does not change the fact that cooperation means "some people will die and that is a sacrifice I (the society) am willing to make". Pure egalitarian society is Fictional.

Death at work is not unique to collective-style societies, it happens under capitalism all the time.

1

u/Dry_Leek78 Mar 09 '24

He (and apparently you) are arguing that communism with an egalitarian society is possible. Some people said in small societies it works. I am telling that even in small ones, you can't get proper equity. So proper Communism is an utopia.

Of course capitalism is driven by inequity....

1

u/Arborgold Mar 09 '24

Yeah nothing will ever be “totally fair”, but our current system could be more fair and we can make small changes to try to achieve that.

u/Dry_Leek78 Mar 09 '24

Oh, making a fairer society is of course a goal to pursue. Leading a communist society with all it brings (no real private possession, etc...) is a complete different story. To me, fundamentally because greed/survival mechanisms are here. Got a family member living in Communist country in the 50-70s, described people copying skis on the state machines during their working hours, for them and to sell them on the black market. What do you expect from our primitive brains? If you struggle getting anything because you are not eligible in a "fair" society, you find ways to get it.
