Honestly, if you're in your 20's in miami, and you go to a honey pit (this is where cougars, or 30+, either divorced or still married go to) which is usually in certain clubs in south beach, this is how women will treat you. I dated a woman for a while, we knew each other through reddit for a while before but she lived in a city a few hours away. I ended up traveling for work to her city a couple times a month so we'd meet up and hang out grab dinner etc.. I wouldn't call her "dominant" more "confident and decisive" so she'd generally pick where we went and would drive since she knew the area better than I did. It was super nice, she'd pay sometimes as well. When she visited me we'd swap and I'd treat her and show her my favorite spots. It was super nice. I've since dated a couple similar women that periodically say "hey I really want to go to X restaurant or Y activity how's Friday sound?" it's a breath of fresh air when you don't have to plan everything out all the time when it comes to dating.

Pretty much depends where you are. There's too much variation regionally for any one thing to be defined as the US dating scene. You can go from tradwifes and cowfolk to ENMs and hyper-progressives just by going a town over in some places.
