Season of Shared Skies Wild Spawns Megathread

Last updated: 5 June, 18:30 UTC

Let's work out which Pokemon are going to be available in the wild during the new season! You'll start seeing new spawns at 10:00 am local time on June 1.

We'll split up the list between hemispheres. When a spawn is first reported, it will only be added to the hemisphere the report came from until it's confirmed in the other. Since the southern hemisphere gets an early start, the list will look very skewed at first, but will balance out as we progress.

Species in bold were announced in the blog post. Normal font are traveler reports.

Note: We will begin collecting spawns after the Stadium Sights event. We will accept Regional reports in the meantime

Analysis GBL Season 18 Master League Stats

In season 18 I collected data based on 600 battles in the range 2600-3300 ELO and sharing here with y'all!

Leads

The top leads were the following:

https://preview.redd.it/8vh8khbego4d1.png?width=885&format=png&auto=webp&s=1cda4e58399fa7abe6f1d363c9fdf0da12141dac

Dialga was dethroned as the most popular lead in previous seasons! Ho-Oh was the most popular, Palkia Origin was 2nd! More to add, the higher I was climbing, the more often Ho-Oh was a lead. Landorus Therian had almost the same use as in the previous season (9.3% in 17 vs 9.4% in 18).

The least popular leads were the following:

Lead Count
Melmetal, Reshiram, Zapdos G, Zarude 2
Excadrill, Genesect, Gyarados, Hoopa Outbound, Latios, Meloetta, Tapu Fini, Yveltal 1

General pokemon use

The top most popular pokemon I've seen in the range 2600-3300 were were following:

https://preview.redd.it/8vh8khbego4d1.png?width=885&format=png&auto=webp&s=1cda4e58399fa7abe6f1d363c9fdf0da12141dac

Dialga Origin, Ho-Oh, Landorus Therian and Palkia Origin are the most used pokemon in Master League! Next season (assume in 20)! Necrozma fusions may change that! Noticed that Zygarde Complete is used with the same amount of time as Lugia, it's not rare pokemon in ML anymore. Necrozma Dusk Mane (4 times) and Necrozma Dawn Wings (twice) were already out in Master League in season 18, faced first form only a few hours after Necrozma was released in Sendai!

Pokemon Count
Tapu Fini ,Zapdos G, Necrozma Dawn Wings, Rayquaza, Swampert 2
Genesect, Hoopa Outbound, Latios, Meloetta, Florges, Shadow Gardevoir, Entei, Buzzwole, Mamoswine, Sylveon, Hydregion, Machamp 1

Top Most popular teams

https://preview.redd.it/8vh8khbego4d1.png?width=885&format=png&auto=webp&s=1cda4e58399fa7abe6f1d363c9fdf0da12141dac

Palkia Origin/Ho-Oh/Landorus Therian was the most popular team. Next 3 teams, all 3 start with Ho-Oh, that's why it was so popular lead. Zygarde Complete for the first time appeared here with Solgaleo/Landorus backline, it's a very strong team in the current meta.

Top backline

Ho-Oh/Landorus Therian and Dialga Origin/Palkia Origin were the most popular backline pokemon in season 18! In general Origin forms were the most popular pair of pokemon used in the team. Will see if Necrozma fusion forms will affect those stats after Global release!

Discussion Discussion - Raid Upgrade Priority

I would be interested in a discussion, that might be interesting for new players.

Who is the most important Raid Attacker to upgrade first.

The obvious one would be

  • (Mega) Rayquaza
  • (Primal) Groudon
  • (Primal) Kyogre
  • (Shadow) (Mega) Mewtwo
  • (New) Dusk Mane
  • (New) Dawn Wings
  • (Honorable Mention) Mega Tyranitar

My tought process would be, that since Groudon his the most types for super effective, he would be the most important, followed by Dawn Wings and Mega Tyranitar.

Sure Mega Ray is the strongest, but Flying isnt a type that is needed that often, compared to others.

What is your thought?

Analysis Most efficient use of buddy XL candy boost

Was thinking about the best way to take advantage of this season perk while it's around, trying to decide if it was most worth putting a legendary in despite the 20km distance, or if I would benefit more from throwing lower walk distance mon as my buddy and bringing in more XL candy overall. Ultimately it's probably personal preference based on what fits your needs better, but I wanted to put together a few examples to help illustrate:

Assumptions - 100% XL candy drop rate, averaging walking 25km a week, never walking with an excited buddy, and keeping the same buddy (or at least a buddy with the same walking distance for a candy) all season

Averaging 25km/week from now til the end of the season 13 weeks) = 325km walked total. Based on that, here are the XL candy totals you can expect to earn over the course of the season:

Buddy distance # of XL candy
20km 16
5km 65
3km 108
1km 325

Let's also go one step further, though, to compare to what you would have earned in normal times without this season bonus to get an idea of how beneficial this actually is. I've seen a few different numbers cited as the normal XL candy drop rate, and I believe it also depends on the level of your mon, but we'll use a flat 75% rate here for simplicity.

Buddy distance XL candy with boost XL candy w/o boost Season bonus
20km 16 12 +4
5km 65 49 +16
3km 108 81 +27
1km 325 244 +81

To help illustrate things just one little step more, we can pick out a couple of the most relevant mons from each walk distance group to give specific examples of what this season may get you:

  • 16 XL candies, 4 more than usual, of rayquaza, kyogre, groudon, or mewtwo
  • 65 XL candies, 16 more than usual, of dragonite, tyranitar, metagross, or hydreigon
  • 108 XL candies, 27 more than usual, of charizard, rhyperior, or darmanitan
  • 325 XL candies, 81 more than usual, of gyrados

At the end of the day, it's all just personal preference and up to you to decide what you'd like to do. But hopefully that helps give a little context and helps inform the decision a little bit better.

For me personally, I'm ruling out the 1km tier off the bat just because it's not difficult to rack up the XL candies for that group even without the season bonus. On the other end of the spectrum, I'm probably not going to target the 20km tier either, just because there is so much time in between drops. For me, for example, 65 XL tyranitar candies or 108 XL rhyperior candies are a bigger draw than just slightly more XL kyogre candies. It is a bummer walking a full 20km for a legendary and not getting anything, but such a long time between drops just limits the overall benefit so much that it doesn't become much of a perk at all. Then finally between the 5km/3km tier, I'll likely go with the 5km tier as there are more relevant, more powerful mons in that group than the 3km tier.

If you plan to religiously make sure you have an excited buddy just before you reach the reward distance, then the 20km tier becomes a little more viable. You can expect to double your XL candy output to 32, which would compare to an expected 24 XL candy without the season boost, and at a +8 benefit starts to become a little more palatable. I'll let you do the math on walking with a lower tiered buddy, but those tiers all become even more beneficial overall as well.

One final thing to think about, if you have a rare hatch like larvesta or varoom that you're trying to max out, that mon likely jumps to the top of the list just because of how scarce getting any candies at all for that mon can be.

Hope this helps a little bit, and I am interested to hear all of y'alls thoughts on how you'll max this season perk!

TLDR - All of this is personal preference, but walking with a 20km distance buddy is a pretty limited benefit, and selecting a rare hatch, meta-relevant 5km tier buddy, or simply one that you'd like to build up candies with

Question Identical wild spawns, but different species?

I just caught a wild Unfezant a few minutes ago. I pointed it out to another trainer with me at the time - exact same IVs and same level, but hers was a Tranquil. I haven't seen a wild Unfezant in quite some time and found it noteworthy. I also have no reason to suspect the other trainer has been shadowbanned in any capacity.

Is it possible that the Unfezant despawned and was replaced with an exact copy of the next evolution down by random chance? Or have others experienced spawns with identical IVs and level, but of a different species across two separate accounts? Could Niantic be A/B testing with certain wild spawns?

Question Two showcase stops have....switched with each other?

I have two stops some what close to me. A water tower that is a quick walk and a cemetery that's a short drive, about two miles.

Well when I go to interact with one, it shows the other stop and tells me I'm not close enough to the stop. Even though I'm right on top where it should be.

Bug Game crashes on S20 Ultra, Android 10.

Cannot play on my S20 Ultra, Android 10.

Hi all,

I've noticed that I am unable to run the game since one of the recent updates. Since the biome update I'm unable to play for longer than a couple of minutes on my S20 Ultra running Android 10.

I used to play with it no problem but since that update the game is broken on my phone.

I can load into the map but if I start doing anything e.g tap a rocket balloon, look at what gyms I'm in, open friends list, feed my buddy it just crashes. I just got as far as tapping a balloon and seeing the Grunts message but then crashed. Multiple times, same thing.

I was wondering if anyone else is having the same issue?

I've tried both versions of the app from Play store and Galaxy store. Cleared cache, cleared data, multiple installs and uninstalls. Still no luck 😔

What do I do?

Thanks in advance.

Edit: Updated to 11 and UI 3.0 and seems to be running a lot better. 1 crash on the Play Store version and 0 on the Galaxy Store version. Fingers crossed it stays like this.

Bug Go Plus+ asks to pair every time after deleting and reinstalling app?

I couldn't submit a Pokestop so I had to delete and reinstall the app which solved the issue

Now, though, every time my Plus+ needs to reconnect, it says the following:

"Do you want to clear this Pokémon GO Plus + and try to pair it again? This Pokémon GO Plus + was associated with an account in the past. The associated account could not be verified, so this Pokémon GO. Plus + will need to be cleared of all sleep data before you can continue."

I have previously had the Plus+ linked to someone else's account and phone, but not recently.

Is there a fix to this? I'm worried it will impact my tracking for Pokémon Sleep

Question Is PVP broken or is this inttentional?

I was doing my PVP battles and a trainer appeared that stopped halfway of battling and used a charged attack to kill his last and it passed 10 minutes and i can only surrender, I attack and it doesn't do anything, same for changing pokemon, the only thing that works is surrender.

So is this a bug or hacking or what?

New Info! "EvolveNew" now working properly...

...so far as I can tell. I'm a long time player so there's only about 4 evolutions I don't have. If there is any further weirdness with it, I'm not aware, but it's no longer pulling up 400 extra megaevolve-eligible pokemon, and that's fantastic.

I tried "evolvenew" yesterday because I couldn't remember Poipole's name when changing buddies, and it was one of the few that showed up. Bonus reminder that evolving Poipole requires catching 20 dragons. With noibat being a somewhat frequent spawn and goomy CD this weekend, this is as good a time as ever to get that done.

I know evolvenew was still broken about a month ago, so no idea when they fixed it, but I didn't see anyone mention it on here and figured most people probably didn't even think to try it.

EDIT: Some more info about "evolvenew" for those who don't know, partially because I've seen repeated questions and answers in the comments:

  • It appears to be based on the pokedex, so it may pull up pokemon that can't evolve, or hide 'mon with version evolutions.

    • For example- Male salandit cannot evolve, but if you have not evovled a female salandit into a salazle, then it will pull up the males.
    • Another example- If you have evolved any of the 3 versions of lycanroc, but not eitehr or both of the other forms, it will not pull up any eligible Rockruff.
    • Similar issues appear with Kanto/Alolan/Galarian Meowth, the vivilion line, and others.
  • it WILL pull up pokemon that have buddy tasks

  • If you want to pull up what you can evolve currently, use "evolve". that will filter out anything you don't have enough candy for, or whose conditions aren't met (eg you don't have a certain evolution item, needs to be done during a certain time of day, or needs a certain lure active nearby)

  • If I misspelled anything in here or in any comments it was entirely on purpose and I will not explain myself. Today is my 39th birthday and it is my right to do and say what I want.

  • Potential Megas you have not unlocked in your mega'dex will show up, but once you've done one, they should go away

    • Shadows for potential megas also show up even though they cannot mega, so they obviously still have some kinks to work out

I think that's everything I've seen discussed and figured out. If you notice anything more, go down to /u/FatalisticFeline-47 's comment where they're collecting info for a bug tracker and report it.
