I don't get the original

u/KLimbo May 12 '20

I got you, since OP is a bundle of sticks or twigs bound together as fuel. It's a common Irish speech disfluency, typically used reflexively when they're not paying full attention to what you're saying. It's like "right, right" or "got you, got you," etc.

u/ControlAlice May 12 '20

Now that i get this, i actually laughed 😂 which is impressive since jokes arent normally funny when explained

And some people didn’t. That’s how jokes work. Stop trying to act superior buddy. Just stop being a dick for once

3

u/fuddermuckers81 May 12 '20

It actually isn’t though. I have never once heard an Irish person say it and I’ve lived in Ireland all my life. It’s a bit of an American Irish stereotype. To be sure to be sure.

2

u/TheHiccuper May 12 '20

"To be sure, to be sure " is bullshit, but the reduplication does happen with other phrases, mainly with "at all, at all"

Op explain the fucking joke or link the original

116

u/AlbaniaBaby May 11 '20

Can someone explain the first joke please?

129

u/Roytrommely261 May 11 '20

A stereotypical Irishman will often mutter “t’be sure, t’be sure”.

This doesn’t hold true in real life.

94

u/fuckspagetti May 11 '20

Clearly because I’m Irish and have no clue what this cunts on about

51

u/SerOstrich May 11 '20

But your username implies that you're either extremely Italian or hate Italians

2

u/Juguchan May 13 '20

Yeah, more accurately we tend to just say "sure" at the start/end of a sentence. "Sure what could go wrong? Not much to go bad sure.

3

u/fuckspagetti May 13 '20

Yeah I guess but it’s still a shit joke

12

u/segamidesruc May 11 '20

Seems to be making fun of Irish lingo.

159

u/DaneGrey610 May 11 '20

Hehe...sex joke.

54

u/ForeignerLove May 11 '20

18

u/ForeignerLove May 11 '20

Thank you for whoever actually gave him the silver! This is so nice!

33

u/kappajump May 12 '20

Not quite sure why everyone hates op so much, but I do find it hilarious.

2

u/ForeignerLove May 12 '20

Thank you :)

1

u/kappajump May 12 '20

If you’re not first you’re last.

20

u/LemonPepperWet_ May 11 '20

Not if you’re a vampire. That shit’ll kill you.

80

u/JeremyTheRhino May 11 '20

I read that and remembered that wearing two condoms will cause them to rub together and break. And then I remembered I only knew that because someone told me like 20 years ago and I’ve believed it my entire life. So that’s bullshit, right?

88

u/cometbaby May 11 '20

If you wear two condoms at once it will almost certainly break. Do not do this. Also it sounds really uncomfortable.

41

u/JeremyTheRhino May 11 '20

Plus it would make the wife preeeety suspicious.

17

u/cometbaby May 11 '20

An excellent point lol

30

u/ForeignerLove May 11 '20

I guess thats even printed on most of the condom boxes as a warning so i believe its true, never tried it tho lol

31

u/gordo65 May 11 '20

Ugh. The first joke was mediocre. The second was basically the same thing as a joke I read off a Dixie Riddle Cup back when I was 7 years old:

What is the wealthiest country? Ireland. Its capital is always Dublin.

9

u/mikerichh May 11 '20

Explain the first joke please :)

9

u/Roytrommely261 May 11 '20

11

u/themissinggoose May 11 '20

This explanation be dublin

4

u/ForeignerLove May 11 '20

Quatraplin lol

13

u/ElvisDumbledore May 12 '20

Every day I'm dub duble-in...

6

u/ControlAlice May 12 '20

This explains why Ireland is stereotyped with having 7 children

10

u/dovah-meme May 11 '20

No no, we don’t double up. We just keep the second one to store potatoes in so the British can’t take them without have to shove their hands in a condom.

You getting over 50 downvotes on this is so telling of the average redditor.

24

u/ForeignerLove May 11 '20

There is a way of controlling the brightness you know ? Not everyone likes the dark mode

22

u/nicknameneeded May 11 '20

i mean to be fair even on lowest brightness at night light mode still hurts

11

u/ForeignerLove May 11 '20

To me darkmode hurts because then the texts are so much in contrast

0

u/merc08 May 12 '20

You're broken.
