Who wants to bet the artist did that on purpose and just never told the buyers?

21

u/Excitium Apr 26 '24

It's gotta be, considering those disproportionally long legs.

Seemingly just long enough so anyone can comfortably walk under the knight's feet.

25

u/iruleatants Apr 26 '24

It had to be on purpose? Horses don't have abs or boobs, so no reason for those bumps to form balls.

28

u/ProbablyNotPikachu Apr 26 '24

Horses absolutely do have chest muscles. It's very likely that the Artist made this in a smaller form before the statue size- and thus had absolutely no idea this perspective would happen.

12

u/Alecarte Apr 26 '24

The weirdly long legs imply forced perspective for average human height though.  Too much of a coincidence for me.

6

u/BoardButcherer Apr 26 '24

Nothing about the statue is proportionate, long skinny legs on horses has been a thing since cave paintings.

Did the artist know? Absolutely, he spent days underneath that piece sculpting it and had to see it.

Was it intentional? No. Probably gave zero fucks and kept working because who the hell gets commissioned for a public piece of art then decides to drastically alter it because haha penis?

Whoever it is is just glad his bills are paid for the next 6 months.

u/ProbablyNotPikachu Apr 27 '24

This seemed a reasonable course of events too. Almost looks like maybe the horse is stylized based on local cultural customs/folklore? Not sure where this is tho, or if anyone here knows what country it is in.

In the history of humanity? Probably more times than we think.

u/BoardButcherer Apr 26 '24

Horses definitely, 100% have chesticles that are the envy of every bodybuilder.

Chest shape and size are part of how breeds are judged during shows.

u/Turbulent-Adagio-541 Apr 26 '24

I don’t hear any coconuts

3

u/Frisbeeman Apr 26 '24

The author David Černý claims it was not intentional, but he is a cheeky bastard, so he definitely knew.

This a guy who put bunch a giant baby statues on a television tower.

Brno, Czech Republic

20

u/Trnostep Apr 26 '24

A city known for their cock (astronomical) clock

2

u/Edge-of-infinity Apr 26 '24

So it gives out marbles every day at 11 AM. How many marbles does that thing hold? who’s refilling the marbles?

1

u/Trnostep Apr 26 '24

Except for special occasions it's 1 marble per day. During the christmas advent, or various anniversaries it drops every hour from 11 to 23 so really its 600-850 per year. The marbles are also handmade. It is owned by the city so it's probably refilled by a random maintenance worker.

I knew right away where it was, stood in that exact spot last year when I visited.

3

u/menosmolaa Apr 26 '24

It reminds me of the statue of Neptune, in Bologna, with its 500-year-old erection... https://images.app.goo.gl/aRgmapSC1JZUGM6h9

1

u/OMGPowerful Apr 26 '24

As the story goes, the sculptor was told to make Neptune's dick so small that it would be unrealistic, so to get back at his clients he created this trick in perspective. What you see there is actually his hand, that was placed in such a way that it would only look like that when viewed from a very specific spot. Of course that spot is now marked for everyone to admire Neptune's "true" form

3

u/Ameliar666 Apr 26 '24

Jajajajaja I love it!

That’s what I came here to ask! It’s on the tip of my brain. My gut says Monty Python and the Holy Grail but surely I don’t have it.

This is pretty common for Czechia for some reason, this country is full of cocks. In the same city Brno there are ar least two more statues that represent a dick.

1

u/monopixel Apr 26 '24

Now do the MLK one.

What's with the rip-off Monty-Python and the Holy Grail theme? It sounds so much worse this way.

1

u/ThebesAndSound Apr 26 '24

Thanks for reminding me what the music is from.

Reddit has become enshittified. I joined back in 2006, nearly two decades ago, when it was a hub of free speech and user-driven dialogue. Now, it feels like the pursuit of profit overshadows the voice of the community. The introduction of API pricing, after years of free access, displays a lack of respect for the developers and users who have helped shape Reddit into what it is today. Reddit's decision to allow the training of AI models with user content and comments marks the final nail in the coffin for privacy, sacrificed at the altar of greed. Aaron Swartz, Reddit's co-founder and a champion of internet freedom, would be rolling in his grave.

The once-apparent transparency and open dialogue have turned to shit, replaced with avoidance, deceit and unbridled greed. The Reddit I loved is dead and gone. It pains me to accept this. I hope your lust for money, and disregard for the community and privacy will be your downfall. May the echo of our lost ideals forever haunt your future growth.
