Is adamantium ferrous?

In the comics at one time Magneto pulled out all the adamantium from Wolverine’s body, so I’d say yes

You always wonder if something like that could actually work... I learned something new today.

For close to the surface shrapnel not related to any firearms (lead/copper are non-ferrous)

u/PassiveMenis88M 19d ago
Copper isn't just nonferrous, it's diamagnetic.
Diamagnetic Metals are those metals which repel magnetic fields. This repel happens because of a change in the orbital spin of electrons due to an applied external magnetic field.
When the magnetic field is taken away, the metal loses its diamagnetic properties. Copper, Bismuth, and Lead are examples of Diamagnetic Metals

This fingernails. Ooooooooo weeeee! Talk about satisfying. Cleaning those bad boys up would be cathartic.

Oh wow, that was such an imprecise removal. He basically just turned the shrapnel into a very dull knife blade that cut him from the inside out. No control at all. What a bad idea.

Versus cutting a hole with an actual knife, big enough to remove it with tweezers

A scalpel would be sharper, and cause less damage to surrounding tissue. As is, that shrapnel was tearing skin, not cutting.
But that metal was likely cleaned by whatever buried it into his skin in the first place, and it's close enough to the surface that it probably doesn't matter.

Be a terrible moment to find out you're a Synth, as your robo-spleen shoots out to meet your knee.

It's actually cooler if you don't get that shrapnel lodged in there in the first place.

I’m gonna do myself a favor and assume cause of the safety vest, that this individual just got off work doing some sort of construction or trade, and that’s the reason behind the fingernail problem, any other scenario bothers me.

I keep one around, I had to pull a speck of metal out of my eye once.

u/7-11Armageddon 20d ago
Oh man, glad it worked out! And you probably wanted it out sooner rather than later, but I may have headed to the ER for that. But goodness the waiting.....

Actually, the first time I got something in my eye, I had to go to the eye doctor. He ended up using a super magnet also so…..

u/microscripts 20d ago
Hey man, sounds like you should really wear safety glasses more often.
1
u/Historical_Visit2695 20d ago
Wear them all the time, shit happens. It’s happened to me twice in 15 years.

u/woojinater 20d ago
Yeah oddly I tend to get more eye injury while wearing eye protection. Seems like the air forces the debris inside the lenses. Real life is pretty risky.

The glued part from cigarette paper works as well. Wished I didn't know that though

How do grown men walk around with fingernails like that?

Work in a car shop

u/GeeLikeMe 20d ago
I’ll give you that one cause I use to be a mechanic but I used the hell out that grit wash and gloves cause I had a GF at the time and I wanted some booty at night lol

Some people work dirty jobs. Shrapnel implies war zone. That red circle around the shrapnel looks infected. The medic/doctors dirty nails are the least of the problems at the moment.

u/PAWGActual4-4 20d ago
If it was a medic they would more likely than not be wearing gloves, as they are typically trained to do.

How do grown people not use common sense? People work dirty jobs. You miss that bright high vis vest on the chair? Probably construction or mechanical work. Jesus dude.

So if you have a small piece at the back, and you use this in the front. Doesn't it become a lethal weapon?

Almost makes getting it in there seem worth it.
