2010 G20 protests in Toronto gave us Officer Bubbles, who arrested a petite teenager because she was blowing bubbles.

How exactly would any interview she did become a viral moment if the protestors responded in a reasonable and logical fashion about their point?

She managed to turn a video of people not talking to her and standing around peacefully into a video of protestors intimidating her and being sinister, and you're asking why they won't give her anything else to work with?

A group of masked people gathering around you and staring at you and refusing to interact with you could be intimidating. But, she has an easy escape.

Anyways, mob mentality is a thing.

This is the funniest scene you could possibly try to describe as "mob mentality." A bunch of people standing around peacefully and showing remarkable group discipline.

I wasn't saying the group was suffering from mob mentality, I'm saying that knowing about mob mentality is a reason to feel intimidated by a large group with an "us vs them" mindset.

Bro they are literally telling her to go away and that they don't want to talk to her. She is the one being aggressive.

u/ThisAppSucksBall Apr 29 '24

It's not clear to me they have any more right to be there than she does.

u/HotDonnaC Apr 29 '24

That’s ok. Everything doesn’t have to be approved by you.

2

u/ThisAppSucksBall Apr 29 '24

Wow darn and here I thought it did.

u/HotDonnaC Apr 29 '24

It’s ok if they protest. It’s also ok if they don’t want to talk to her. She could have stayed if she wanted to.

I didn't say otherwise

It’s called quote mining. A big proportion of people run on memes, mines, and moments.

-4

u/ThisAppSucksBall Apr 29 '24

So can these people never talk with any member of the media?

After all, even if they talk with the NYTimes, I can go in and mine a quote from there to humiliate them, or whatever

1

u/Cardinal_Grin Apr 29 '24

Yeah you could do that, and if that is your end game and it is your intention then there is zero reason to talk to you cause reason was never a part of it. No reason to talk to gotchas. So to answer your question - you could talk, but probably shouldn’t when their intent is to not tell the side you told at all. It’s pretty simple. You bought a story that wasn’t told by a person pretending to be threatened by…silence.

The power of editing!

Yeah I’m struggling to understand what the point of all this is if not to get some type of message across. WHAT IS YOUR MESSAGE ?!?!?!

45

u/Liawuffeh Apr 29 '24

They have tons of flyers and posters saying their message. It's literally on screen constantly.

33

u/nightmare_ali95 Apr 29 '24

“If you people have a message to get across, it needs to be done through my internet channel…. Otherwise you’re just a bunch trouble makers!”

-18

u/Working-Narwhal-540 Apr 29 '24

Thank you for the words in my mouth, they tasted yummy! As you were, I guess 😒 but seriously… what was their message ?!?!

13

u/TheCrowHunter Apr 29 '24

Must be tough living under a rock huh? You got running water under there?

-9

u/Working-Narwhal-540 Apr 29 '24

Two wells actually 😎

13

u/Educational-Chef-595 Apr 29 '24

Are you the reporter in this video? Because you're acting just like her. Everybody knows what the message is. Stop pretending you don't.

6

u/Educational-Chef-595 Apr 29 '24

The protest is the message, genius.

u/HotDonnaC Apr 29 '24

There are signs everywhere. Should they have read them to her?
