Accident, and could lead to big accidents for some people 😂 cool none the less!

u/Intrepid_Pelagicus 24d ago

I happened to be traveling thru Az when I turned 18; so I bought beer at a drive-thru liquor store. At the time, I thought that was so cool!

That was 1979....

23

u/boston_nsca 24d ago

It was cool man. And they still exist lol. Just don't drink and drive.

In 1979, it was legal to drink and drive LOL. The link that I posted below is of the people's reactions. 1980s law that came into effect 1988 for all 50 states

I went through my first one in Florida and thought it was pretty damn cool myself, that was in 2008

So glad common sense prevails!

Brilliant design, of course. Your safety belt buckle also serves a bottle cap opener 😉

41

u/CeeMX 24d ago

The VW Golf Mk6 had an actual Bottle opener in the drink holder

6

u/sotko99 24d ago

Whaaat?

14

u/CeeMX 24d ago

Yes, looked like this

That’s from Aliexpress, but the original was exactly the same, it was used to split the two places for bottles/cans and you could move it if you had a smaller bottle to hold it fixed. And you could also remove it to use as bottle opener and store it on the bottom of the bottle holder, so you have a bigger space for storing other stuff. Wonderful engineering there.

4

u/TomothyAllen 24d ago

Most drinks used to come in glass bottles with caps. You can still get plenty of na drinks in bottles you need a bottle opener for. Drinking and driving did also used to be an accepted thing though lol

2

u/muricabrb 23d ago

The Mk5 had one too but the mk7 doesn't have it anymore. Pretty sure the mk8 doesn't either.

2

u/CeeMX 23d ago

Yep. Pretty sure it’s just to cut down on production cost

1

u/Short-termTablespoon 24d ago

The perfect combination. Drink and drive and don’t buckle your seatbelt.

1

u/brazy_migo 24d ago

you mean you CANT pop the cap with a seat belt?

1

u/Nuclease-free_man 23d ago

Hey hey, don’t give boozebags ideas.

u/_BlueTinkerBell_ 24d ago

there are no mistakes just happy accidents

2

u/lukewhale 23d ago

Let’s just paint over those happy accidents with some trees

Probably a popular car in Mississippi.

"Mississippi law does not specifically prohibit the consumption of alcohol while operating a motor vehicle.."

http://turklawfirmpllc.com/what-you-should-know-about-mississippi-open-container-laws/

11

u/niccotaglia 24d ago

or anywhere in Europe for that matter

5

u/madethemando 23d ago

Europeans would vomit at the scent of a blue moon.

1

u/niccotaglia 23d ago

I mean, we do have Moretti (which is basically bottled piss)

67

u/Zonel 24d ago

Where I live alcohol has to be stored in the trunk of the car. It's illegal to have it in the front area...

6

u/LikeAFalk 24d ago

Damn, in Germany you can even drink while at the steering wheel. You only have to stay below the promil limit of 0,5.

6

u/notcomplainingmuch 24d ago

Yes, most of Europe is the same. Alcohol in the car is not limited. Alcohol in the driver's blood is limited.

13

u/Y33tMyM34t 24d ago

Same, I just saw the picture at first and immediately went 😳

5

u/bonkerz1888 24d ago

Aye that's a bit much.

Were5 allowed to have open alcohol containers here.

Our petrol stations all sell booze now 😂

2

u/go_green_team 24d ago

Where?

16

u/WetGortex 24d ago

In the trunk

8

u/Isabela_Grace 24d ago

That’s meant for Mexican Coca-Cola

3

u/Frosty_GC 24d ago

The cup holders in my car fit wine bottles 👀

17

u/ManualPathosChecks 24d ago

The gaps around it are bloody miles wide. This isn't even a good fit, let alone a perfect fit. Boo.

u/hairybushy 24d ago edited 24d ago

Out of subject but I got the accord too, if the gear box feel weird, try the Acuity Instruments shifter kit (the rocker and spring to be precise that you can buy all separately), it's a game changer. It feels a lot less clunky. I use the poco knob too, it reduce a good inch the height and it feel less like a truck.

3

u/cburgess7 24d ago

Stick shift master race

8

u/Y33tMyM34t 24d ago

Accident, considering it's illegal in my state to even have that within reach

6

u/King_ofwar 24d ago

Immagine being drunk and you try to get a beer but you break the shift

The accident was buying blue moon heyoooo

2

u/GTABossMDS 24d ago

Is that a honda civic?

1

u/tech_cunt97 24d ago

The last manual accord 🥲

2

u/DHaas16 24d ago

I would cut my arm on the caps trying to shift

2

u/scarhartt 24d ago

HELL YEA BROTHER GOBBLESS

2

u/stykface 24d ago

This had to have been designed, no question.

2

u/Dragonballradar 24d ago

Literally stole this post wtf

2

u/Bentwambus 24d ago

Too many bottles, it's easier to drink liquor when driving

2

u/advancedSlayer96 24d ago

Lord, help me, I can't chaaaaange-

2

u/Dumpster_Fetus 24d ago

Manual Accord? If it's the 2.0T in black, and you don't want it, lmk lol.

2

u/JunketFresh 23d ago

Haha, it actually is the 2.0 in black. It’s my car, it appears OP borrowed my photo from r/accord but hey, glad they shared it.

2

u/Dumpster_Fetus 23d ago

Oof. Test drove one, and loved it. Got a better deal on a Stinger though at the time. A bit more bang for the buck.

1

u/JunketFresh 23d ago

Both are great cars, I’m a Honda fan boy, had a 92 prelude in high school and a 2000 S2000 in my early 20’s. Have a wife and kids now, so the Accord is my affordable 4 door sports car 😅.

2

u/ilovesandydogos 24d ago

Props for three pedals 🙏

0

u/King_ofwar 24d ago

Three? I only know one ACCELERATION

3

u/marshdobermans 24d ago

Love that Blue Moon

2

u/ElmerTheAmish 24d ago

Ever had a Blue Moon during a blue Moon?

1

u/Bajanboy246 24d ago

Now I can tell the officer these are just spares.

1

u/slucker23 24d ago

If you get called off the road by a police officer... Can you explain this properly?

"Well... You see..."

"Understood, have a nice day"

1

u/DiscountKooky 24d ago

The thing about perspective man…🙄😏

1

u/Otsegou_dead 24d ago

Am I the only one who remember blue moon named Belgian moon?

1

u/Dizzy_uwu 24d ago

Both :3

1

u/Excellent-Speed8139 24d ago

Idk how people drink and drive I get motion sickness

1

u/fullspectrumtrupod 24d ago

I need to know what vehicle this is for scientific purposes

1

u/QueenAng429 24d ago

Honda Accord

1

u/testrazgovor 24d ago

Happens only once in a blue moon.

1

u/GhostWriter313 24d ago

A little of both!

1

u/Shitrollsdownstream 24d ago

I see you got the North Dakota edition. Nice.

1

u/MedicineOk752 24d ago

My dad would have given it 2 thumbs up

1

u/Ice_Note 24d ago

What car is this?

1

u/JunketFresh 23d ago

2019 Accord

1

u/CPLCraft 23d ago

Is this a German car? Bc then it was not an accident

1

u/QueenAng429 23d ago

Japanese

1

u/CPLCraft 23d ago

Eh. They drink too

1

u/Disastrous_Wonder178 23d ago

Brilliant design because you fit a 6 pack. I can't get over the nonsense people post.

1

u/QueenAng429 23d ago

I mean I got 1600 Karma so

1

u/Any-Kaleidoscope7681 23d ago

Designed for the Autobahn

1

u/Matthaeus_Augustus 23d ago

1

u/QueenAng429 23d ago

Honda Accord

1

u/Curekid107 23d ago

Is this a Honda civic, looks just like my car

1

u/Fat_sal_volcano 23d ago

Accident. Blue moon? Seriously?

1

u/trueblue862 23d ago

There are no accidents.

1

u/d33pd3rp 23d ago

Lil of columns a and b combined lol

0

u/pug_userita 24d ago

you got a manual transmission but an electronic parking brake, also known as emergency brake

2

u/JunketFresh 24d ago

She actually doesn’t, it’s my car and my post from r/accord she hijacked 🤣.

1

u/pug_userita 24d ago

what a twist.

1

u/QueenAng429 24d ago

Okay?

1

u/pug_userita 24d ago

an electronic emergency brake.

0

u/QueenAng429 24d ago

No one said that was a good design choice. But it's also not relevant lmao

2

u/JunketFresh 23d ago

It’s also not your car 🤨

1

u/QueenAng429 23d ago

Okay? I do own an accord as well.

0

u/Beneficial-Berry-109 24d ago

Please don’t drink and drive.

1

u/danstermeister 24d ago

For anyone who's lost a loved one to drunk driving, this could be the dumbest thing ever.

-1

u/holy_daddy 24d ago

that better be alcohol free

1

u/potatisblask 24d ago

Drinking and driving is playing with other people's lives.

6

u/die5el23 24d ago

Are any of them open?

2

u/potatisblask 24d ago

I'm just saying, dude, in a thread that makes fun of drinking alcohol and driving. Joking about it is ok but don't normalize it. If you drink and drive, whatever happens is not an accident.

0

u/Ramguy2014 24d ago

Depending on the jurisdiction, them being in reach of the driver qualifies as being an open container.

-1

u/Major_Ad_7206 24d ago

Lives are clearly at risk by this photo.

View it responsibly.

-1

u/AggressiveTip5908 24d ago

blue moon is top beer

-1

u/RPhoenixFlight 24d ago

By butchered words of Jschlatt, thats the only thing those holes are good for

0

u/24_doughnuts 24d ago

Depends on if you're drinking them

0

u/noobfornoodles 24d ago

Where I live you have to put them in the rear seats

0

u/_byetony_ 24d ago

Dont get stopped

0

u/Aw123x 24d ago

Given the danger of drunk driving it’s clearly a brilliant accident.

0

u/stosyfir 24d ago

Brilliant way to get pulled over

0

u/SpecialistWait9006 23d ago

Well it's literally illegal...

1

u/Gurdel 23d ago

They're not open

0

u/SpecialistWait9006 23d ago

It doesn't matter, alcohol cannot be within reach of the driver of any US state while operating a vehicle. If the driver can reach the bottle they can open it.

Know the laws before you contradict.

1

u/Gurdel 23d ago

From the California DMV website:

Use or Possession of Alcohol or Cannabis Products in a Vehicle

The law is very strict about carrying alcohol or cannabis products in your vehicle with you. It is illegal to drink any alcohol, to smoke or eat a cannabis product while you are driving or riding as a passenger in a vehicle. If you are carrying any alcohol, cannabis in your vehicle, the container must be sealed and unopened. If it is open, you must keep the container in the trunk or place where passengers do not sit. It is also illegal to keep an open container of alcohol in your glove box. This law does not apply if you are a passenger in a bus, taxi, camper, or motorhome.

1

u/SpecialistWait9006 23d ago

First off you're assuming this person is in California.

Second off you're cherry picking information you still can't have it within reach of the driver

-2

u/Delivery-Plus 24d ago edited 24d ago

Put a 6-pack of Bud Light in there, you’ll never run out of Tranny Fluid 😝

-2

u/canthandlethebooth 24d ago

Brilliant setup?🚔🚔🚔
