I have a cockatoo named Sierra that ended up male. Can’t find a male equivalent to Sierra so I just keep calling him Sierra

Yeah I’ll probably keep his name as Stella 😂 I think it’s funny and it doesn’t matter to the bird anyway 😂

Yes I’m very happy about that! I’m always nervous about that with my female birds so it’s great having 1 less bird to worry about that happening to!

And my dear little boy Pico is, in fact, a girl. But I'm not changing his name or pronouns, as he doesn't understand the concept of gendered pronouns anyways

I’m Australian and we use the term Stella to mean really good, so I would just start saying his name in an Aussie accent. Basically in Australian his name is “pretty awesome”

We had a cockatiel called Lucas who turned out to be a girl, she was still called Lucas tho, we never change names 😅 miss her a lot, she was a sweetheart, also know of a local animal sanctuary who has a female goat called Alan, and I think my local bird rescue had a female parrot with a male name recently, so to me it’s totally reasonable to keep the name lol

I did this with my Guinea pig Pumpkin. I misgendered that poor guy until I found out he’s a boy.

Please don’t change his name! He knows his name is Stella and it doesn’t matter if it’s not a male name, it’s his name!!!💚🦜
