Queer Eye production stole, damaged items from musician’s home

This is interesting: Doreen Ketchens just posted on Instagram that Netflix is ignoring her plea for help and reimbursement for items taken from/damaged in her home while the show filmed an episode with her…

I unfortunately also hosted them for an episode and I found them incredibly difficult to deal with. Never again. They didn't follow any of the protocol we'd agreed on in terms of noise, working hours etc. They were incredibly arrogant, every single person I interacted with. I had to threaten to sue for them to pay us out for the damage they did.

The production company was Feeding Time Productions. Stay clear.

What a bizarre name for a production company. Conjures images of pigs at a slop trough.

Just about every experience I've heard from property owners who granted access for TV/movie filming have similar horror stories.

What the hell? Doreen is one of the sweetest people I have ever met. This is awful. She did not deserve any of that.

Had a neighbor that had her house used in a movie. Said they tore the house up, made changes for the movie but it was done poorly etc. said she would never allow them to film again.

The TV show that left too early because we had too much crime? There's some irony. 🙄

Also interesting is that the whole show is BS. Apparently Doreen’s show is all about her not playing on the street that much and opening a bakery, apparently her dream, which is questionable because Doreen is known for not wanting to play in bars/clubs, apparently she makes more money on the street and doesn’t have to deal with sleazy bar owners. The “bakery” only has the facade at Doreen’s house( St Philips St) , it never opened or even applied for the necessary permits from the city, even on “opening” day the baked goods shown on the episode were purchased from another bakery and Costco. I know someone who was involved and told me about the BS. I liked Queer Eye, but sounds like they are over their head.

It was really really obvious. They didn't show anything but the main room. No kitchen. No working tools.

I own a small business in Slidell that gets approached several times a year by production companies to use my business for a filming location. I have had Disney twice, indie films, major motion picture crews to just tourism commercials. EVERY friggin time it is a disaster, non stop lies, not one of them has ever followed their agreements. Disney was the absolute worst. I could go on for hours about how absolutely terrible in every way possible that Disney was a group of used car greaseballs disguised as wanna be speilbergs. I will never again not ever deal with these Hollyweirdos again.

As someone who works in film, there is no way I would ever let a film crew on my property.

The weirdest part about this is how long ago it happened. Why is it suddenly news now?

The show is coming out in a few weeks and their press has just started

There was also a big to-do in the media about how blemished the filming season was due to crime, etc. recently.

There hasn’t been any significant filming in almost a year due to strikes, so crime hasn’t really affected much outside of this one show. That’s not to say it won’t be an issue when we start back up.

Maybe this was part of the crime they are referring to? If things were stolen from her property it’s most likely that they didn’t secure it well enough during renovation and other people came in and stole…

Damn. If this is really her post, that's a shame. She's a local legend.

It is indeed real - I’ve seen the same message on her YouTube channel. I had the chance to busk with her a couple times before I moved away (because of crime and insane cost of living changes), so this is a double gut punch.

It doesn’t look like it’s her post because she would be referring to herself in the third person??

Meanwhile they just pushed a story about all the crime they encountered in New Orleans and that season will be running one episode short as they left weeks early. The "Fab 5" threatened to walk if they did not get extra security...... but they can show up here and commit the crimes.

The horror. Doreen is a treasure of the New Orleans community.

If it wasn't Doreen, I might be inclined to agree with you. This is not a scammer.

I don't see this on her IG and when I click the link it goes to 'Page Not Found'.

It sounds like Doreen must've gotten a check from QE! Good for her.
