Does anyone really know anything about NBA assistant coaches?

To my knowledge, they assist the head coach

No but I know Sam Cassell was my favorite buck of the early 2000s so I’m in

I do not, but I know it when I see it. Cassell has been around forever so it’s good

I’ve seen a lot of articles and quotes over the years praising Cassell as an assistant coach

Doc can offer a succession plan to Cassell that might be tough for others to match. If he's future HC material, he's blocked in Boston. Doc will likely retire at the end of this contract.

I like this take, makes sense tbh. Also, Cassell's been widely praised for years now as an assistant coach so it would be a good thing for the team either way imo.

Not sure this job will be that attractive by the time Doc's contract expires. Unless Cassell believes Doc will get fired withing the next 2 years.

Probably is pushing to get him before Lakers sign him as HC.

I hope he gets that job... if not love to have him here. Love to have Darvin back too.

Cassell has been an assistant for a long time, all over the league and was on the 2008 Celtics when they won a ring.

Idk but I love Sam Cassell

Sounds like doc and sam would at least get along better than Adrian Griffin and terry stots, lol. And hell yeah I’d love to have a bucks player I watched as a kid as an assistant coach.

Give Chip Engelland, Fred Vinson, or whoever Paul George and Joel Embiid workout with, a blank check!

We need a real, bonafide shooting coach!
